@@MaskinJuniorAlso Sweden did , as unlikely as it sounds like today, did kinda helped the protestants win. There is a fun sketch with steven fry about the treaty of westphalia when sweden germany, england and france made a treaty after 3 decades of war, the 30 years war. Back then, sweden was also a small country, one contributing factor as to why historians think sweden did so well in the 30 years war, was because the soldiers themselves really thought they were doing the right thing by trying to cast out all the catolic beliefs. And hey im happy for it, well done / a swede who sucks at latin numbers.

This war started as a conflict between protestants and catholics, in Central Europe, (1618-1648). Sweden got involved in 1630 because Swedish territory was threatened and had to be defended. One really sick thing about it, was that Swedish nobles (and the crown as well) made fortunes of this war. Some of the castles in our country was built with blood money...(religion and greed). That was one reason why Swedish government and nobles didn't want it to end at first.
    Great reaction, again!🤘

And nowhere is that more obvious than in the song 1648 on the album. When the rest of Europe are trying their hardest to negotiate peace after 30 years of war, Sweden goes on a rampage through Bohemia (nowadays Western Chech Republic) to secure as much loot as possible while its still up for grabs.
It's a good song, check it out! :D

@@markusjongren4098 Yes, as long Sweden was good at war they could earn money and riches by it, it was said that it was cheaper for them to go to war than to have peace. So the logic became that they shoud finish what they had started, it became normal for them to both start and end war over and over, many kings that way inherited ongoing wars and conflicts from earliers kings. This is how Sweden became an empire for a while until Russia and Norway took down the empire and humbled the swedish nobles and kings. The swedish people were actually really poor because all the money earned through the war was also used only for the impressive buildings and then for the military. The Caroleans was one of best military power in Europe despite it's small size. This only because Denmark was the wake up call for the swedish kings for making Sweden wanna get stronger in the first place as had lost to Denmark and felt humiliation during the 30 year war and noticed that if wanted save the swedish land and save it from outsiders Sweden had to become the bully. Swedish kings did not want to lose to Denmark and Norway so Sweden did everything they could to improve its military that had lost to Denmark. The bigger and stronger Sweden became at war then the more enemies it got, the goal for Swedish kings was probably to be recoginised as a super power in Europe kind of like how France and Great Britain was. Greed and Religion and the success definitly got to the swedish kings heads.

I'm turning 29 this year. So if this war had begun when I was born, it would still have over a full year to go. It's insane to realize the scope of this. You could have easily been born and died without ever knowing peace in this time. And given how many millions of people died in this war, a lot of them probably did. Imagine living your entire life in just one war. Man truly has gone insane. And it's sad to realize that we're not any better today.

      @ragulper 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

@mikewachowiak4976 This is why I prefer the English version. People tend to get the wrong the ideas from the Swedish, as if they aren't listening to the lyrics. It was a disasterous war for Sweden.
People dragged away from their farms, leaving poverty and famine behind. Hundreds of years to recuperate for that disaster. They didn't fight for their country, their fight is what helped destroy Sweden. And with the poverty, the King even melted down the church bells to pay for the war, no one had time to mourn people they hadn't seen in the last 10-20 years.
The lyrics clearly say there was no glory to be found, yet people still try to find it. It was a meaningless war that only destroyed.

Lyrics from Swedish version translated to English!!
" I look around and see my home disappear
My time at home now feels far too short
Only youth, hardly a man when duty called me
If I get to see my home again, I do not know
Among relatives from my village, I went out to battle
    And the world burned
    For the war it can
    Destroy a man
I give my life for my homeland
    But who misses me?
    So see me as it
    A husband, a friend
Father and son never coming home
    But who mourns me?
Went out in battle for Sweden, was baptized in blood
Out there, death awaits, not heroism
In fields where relatives fall, no song is heard
    Challenging our destinies, once again
    Far from home
Be baptized and die in battle
    And the world burned
    For the war it can
    Destroy a man
I give my life for my homeland
    But who misses me?
    So see me as it
    A husband, a friend
Father and son never coming home
    But who mourns me?
    "Guitar solo"
And when my time has run out
    Who cares then?
    They are struggling
Does a soldier get a dignified end?
    Get to sleep
    Disappear
    And never wake up

The 30 years war was dark. It begun with Roman Catholic persecution of protestants - and protestants resisting.
But it spiralled into something broader - notably Roman Catholic France allied with the protestants because they were worried by the political ambitions of Spain.
I think by the end everyone just wanted the fighting to be over - however, as dark as it was it paved the way for (some measure of) religious freedom in several countries.

Greetings from Germany :) I live in Schaumburg, which is till now named the county of Schaumburg-Lippe. The thirty years war lead to violence and death. The earl (or count idk) died in the middle of the war (kinda unfortunately bc he reigned really well and had brought education and wealth) and in the peace treaty in 1648 the county was divided and then sort of unified later. I have to say, that I am some times proud of our castle and the big roles Schaumburg-Lippe played (we even have a place in the National Museum of Portugal). The funny thing is, that I am not proud at all to be german.

    • @EskChan19

Was it though? Because that book endorses quite a lot of violence and backwards thinking. I respect the christians who live peacefull despite their books teaching, but as I said that is DESPITE the book, not because of it. Let's not pretend that the Bible doesn't expressly endorse war against non-believers, slavery and other things the primitive tribes who wrote the bible believed to be just during their time period. I respect you as a christian man, but let's not pretend that the people who killed in the name of your god did so without justification from your book, and that those who waged war injustly simply didn't believe in the teachings of your book.
      Jeremiah 50:21
“Against the land of Merathaim, go up against it,
And against the inhabitants of Pekod.
Slay and utterly destroy them,” declares the Lord,
“And do according to all that I have commanded you."
      Jeremiah 48:10
“Cursed be the one who does the Lord’s work negligently,
And cursed be the one who restrains his sword from blood.
      Samuel 15:3-23 ICB
"Now go, attack the Amalekites. Destroy everything that belongs to them as an offering to the Lord. Don’t let anything live. Put to death men and women, children and small babies. Kill the cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys."
      Chronicles 15:12-13 ESV
And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul, but that whoever would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether young or old, man or woman.
      Genesis 17:13
a slave born in your house, as well as one purchased with money, must be circumcised. My covenant will be marked in your flesh as an everlasting covenant.
      Colossians 3:22-4:1
Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not with a slavery performed merely for looks, to please people, but wholeheartedly, fearing the Lord.
      Isaiah 14:1-2
But the Lord will have compassion on Jacob and will again choose Israel and will settle them in their own land, and aliens will join them and attach themselves to the house of Jacob. 2 And the nations will take them and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will possess the nations[a] as male and female slaves in the Lord’s land; they will take captive those who were their captors and rule over those who oppressed them.
And that's just a few examples. I can list more if you want. A lot more. Jesus straight up tells an abused slave to return to their master for they will receive justice in heaven only if they serve well. That is the book that according to you, people who commit violence don't actually believe in.

    • @Avetho
      @Avetho ปีที่แล้ว

If they read the Book, they'd realize that the Book says to "rightly divide" so anything after mid-Acts is for us and tells us of the history of the Body, anything before mid-Acts is history and/or for the Jews only, anything in Revelations is post-us (as we are the Body _not_ the Bride) and is for the Jews instead and a foretelling of what will happen once we as those of us who have accepted His gift and placed our trust in him (and everyone below the Age of Accountability, most likely 20 years)(and also note that we do not need any works to be saved nor can we lose our salvation no matter what though we can lose rewards in Heaven) are caught up and brought out of here before we face any of His Wrath. The Roman Catholic Church added loads of shit to it and with their basically black-ops Jesuits they can be called a nation unto themselves with some level of military power, basically their own little church-state, and it wasn't even a century yet after Jesus returned to Heaven did the Romans twist the Word and start perverting it. Then there was the Roman Catholic Church's reign and restricting the Word from the common man by burning every non-Latin copy they could find of the Bible, their priests preaching a tainted false "gospel" that goes against what the Word says and it wasn't until the Reformation centuries later did the Word begin to be translated into common languages, many decades of basically hot potato as authors run from the Jesuits who were hunting them down like rabies-infected mad dogs to slaughter them as they translate the Word and get it out there so people can read it and come to know the Lord through his Word rather than the words of that unholy pope and their sacraments and demonic false gospel. And after all that chaos and death the Jesuits and their masters the Catholics failed to stop His Word from culminating in the most accurate English translation in history, the 1611 Authorized Version, aka the King James Version. Just read it with a dictionary beside you if you ever have trouble with older words, its got all the context, all the old and eloquent meaningful words that mean more than our simplistic dumbed-down English, and you get the actual idea behind what the writers put to pen those millennia ago when they all wrote a coherent Book separate from each other without collaboration, somehow being a Book with proper meshing between books as if it was written by one person instead of, what, 44 writers I believe it was? All separated across many hundreds of years, thousands even from the start to the end. That's amazing, and not only that but the Bible has been used as a sort of Rosetta Stone for ancient cultures, like the Goths who we learned were a colorful people who wore clothes of many colors kind of like Joseph did.

    • @IzsakJoraszZ9
      @IzsakJoraszZ9 ปีที่แล้ว

@@EskChan19 Well, firstly, I don't expect you to understand what I mean by what you're listing is out of context, not only in the sense that you're mistaking commands at the time to mean commands now, but also before Jesus Christ. The wrath of God towards the brutal evils of this world had not been satisfied until the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, after which the Father drew all towards Himself. Before that, however, God had allowed certain civilizations to exist for a time, given them chance after chance, until their wickedness had become so immense and perverted that they had become too dangerous to exist--I'm sure various folk today could think of such civilizations in our pasts. Secondly, not only are you misunderstanding what a "slave" is certain contexts, but you're also misinterpreting commands to be submissive to one's master to mean God is okay with slavery--that's simply not the case. What IS the case is that God wants us NOT to repay evil for evil and to bear the image of Christ and love, and part of that is to bear all things--being rebellious would simply go against that. While you're thinkibg about that, you should ask yourself why we even think slavery isn't okay. Also, not that it makes that big of a difference, but I think you mean Paul rather than Jesus urged a runaway slave to return to his master, because that sounds like you're referring to Onesimus (Philemon). Regardless, as it turns out, Onesimus himself played a crucial role in bringing his own master to Christ BECAUSE he returned.
God is a God of perfect love but also perfect justice. Unfortunately, because of our own perversity, God was unable to show that side of perfect love in its entirety (though many times, executing justice IS an act of love, which people today have forgotten)--it is only by his grace that we still exist as a race! That's why we needed Jesus to be that perfect sacrifice to cleanse the sin of the world so that the wrath of God towards evil could finally be satisfied. Now all that is left is simply accepting that he did that for you and giving your life to him, and he'll take care of the rest.😊
And of course, whether you believe me or not and are willing to have an open mind about it is totally up to you.😉

Here's my translation of the swedish lyrics, that also goes well with the melody. Let me know what you think.
I turn around to see my homestead fade away
I wish I could have stayed there, just another day
Not yet a man, though called to arms to do my part
Will I see my home again, I wish with all my heart
With kinsmen from my village I went out to war
    In a world of flames
‘Cause war surely can, devastate a man
I give my life, for my motherland
    But who’s missing me?
    So see me as them
    the husband and friend
the father and son, who’s never seen again
    But who mourns over me?
Went out to war for Sweden, baptized in blood
No gallantry awaits us, dying in the mud
In fields where friends has fallen, there’ll be no songs
Our fate once more we challenge, and marching on
    Far away from home
(To be baptized and die in war)
    In a world of flames
‘Cause war surely can, devastate a man
I give my life, for my motherland
    But who’s missing me?
    So see me as them
    the husband and friend
the father and son, who’s never seen again
    But who mourns over me?
And when my time is finally here
    Who’ll sing my song?
    They’re fighting on
I hope to die without much fear
I fall asleep, and fade away
    And never wake up
‘Cause war surely can, devastate a man
I give my life, for my motherland
    But who’s missing me?
    So see me as them
    the husband and friend
the father and son, who’s never seen again
    But who mourns over me?

Sometimes I wonder if the world would've been better these days if the islamic world had gone through a similar experience. A lot of the instability in that region is caused by the sunni/shia rivalry. Maybe if they would've had a century or so to fight it out amongst themselves and come to the conclusion that it might be better to just tolerate each others different views of the same religion the region would be in much better shape right now. It seemed to work fine for Europe, although at a large cost of lives.

I will repeat my commentary from one of your previous videos.
    Привет из Крыма;
    Greetings from Crimea!
I was delighted with your reactions and would like to ask you to listen to another Sabaton song - Camouflage, this is their cover of a popular song from the nineties, telling about the meeting of a soldier lost in the Vietnamese jungle and a strange, but very big marine. And a second song i would request - Wolfpack, telling us a story about the convoy ON - 92, and a day when they was attacked by German group of U - Boats.

You are mistaking the 30 years war with the northern war. This video is about the 30 years war when Gustavus Adolfus was ruling sweeden. The war is between catholics and protestants. Basically they used religions as a way of controlling masses and other countries.

I think you have missed this part In History class. The Protestants in Central Europe revolted against he Catholic Churches persecution of Protestants. Gustavus Adolphus, the Lion from the North, came to aid the Protestants.
During the great northern war, Denmark-Norway, Sachsen-Poland and Russia all declared war on the Swedish empire. It was not an aggression from the Swedish king. He did however go on a counter offensive after being attacked, and thus defeat Russia in the battle of Narva and later push the Poland and saxony out of Lithuania and Poland into saxony, forcing Augustus II to yield his throne.

I love your content, but arguably the Swedish fanaticism in the protestant religion and belief that our king was chosen by god, was what enabled our king to start wars. Religion and morality is not alone the answer, we must apply rationality when we apply our values so we can best follow them.
