  • Allison is at The Natural Baby and walks us through how to use reusable menstrual sea sponges for your period.
    Product Info:
Jade and Pearl Classic Sea Sponges Multi Pack which she is showcasing has 3 sponge sizes : Small , Medium, Large.
Sea Pearls are completely natural sponges that come from the sea. Each sponge has been washed and inspected, trimmed and packaged.
    Harvesting of Sponges:
Sea sponges are harvested so that the living sponge can regenerate and grow new sponges thus making sea sponges a renewable resource and a more sustainable source for your cycle needs.
    Songe Care:
Take care in cleaning your sponges. If cared for properly, sponges can last for 3-6 months or more.
Sea sponges should be rinsed and reused multiple times and do not need to be sanitized after each use. It is recommended to clean your sponge:
    1. Before first use
    2. Once Daily or every other day during cycle
    3. If the sponge develops any unpleasant odor
    4. Prior to storing
    Cleaning Instructions:
    1. Use a natural chemical-free soap OR
    2. Soak for 5-10 minutes in warm water with one of the following ingredients
    a. 2-3 drops of tea tree oil
    b. t TBS vinegar
    c. 1 TBS baking soda (helps restore volume and density)
    d. 1 tsp hydrogen peroxide (helps reduce coloration)
Then rinse sponge and squeeze out excess water
    Hang to dry
Do NOT boil your sponge. Boiling shrinks and toughens the sponge.
Do NOT use harsh soaps or chemicals.

Super helpful! I'm extremely sensitive to chemicals and have battled with feminine products for way too long. Hoping this will end the battle.

      @@tanziameherin2696 actually Gynecologists recommend them.
The FDA in America won't approve them because they get paid an awful lot by Tampax to flood the market during our flows 🤷‍♀️

I don’t understand why people would put dead animals in their vagina unless they didn’t know that a sea sponge is actually an animal....

The same way women put sponges filled with bleaches and chemicals inside of their vagina and complain a smelly pussy after🤭🤭🤭 we can do what we want with our bodies, calm down

You're right, it is an animal without a nervous system or brain.
However, in harveston these to use as natural feminine products you are actually benefiting the entire ocean.
Because tampons now have plastic applicators that are all over the sea, tampons their packaging pads and their packaging I've all got plasticky components and bleach which are not good for our bodies or the planet.
In the collection of sea sponges a small amount is trimmed from each sponge and they regrow just like you would trim your plants in the garden.

Is it safe to use overnight when it can stay in for more than 8 hours? Can I use it for overnight travel lasting for 13 hours or so? I am concerned about bacteria getting built up if it stays for long. Also what if its bits get broken up and stay inside?

sonal shriwant I have used mine 8 hours long several times. You might want to sterilize it after first thing in the morning with the recepies mentioned here and let it dry. Use a spare one meanwhile the overnight one dries. Sponges remain fairly compact. There's no reason why a piece of sponge would fall apart inside the vagina. If you're like me you sew a piece of dental floss to aid in removal, the sponge may deteriorite over time due to the pull focused on the area the floss is sewed. This deteriorated parts can be trimmed to expand lifespan of sponge and avoid loose pieces. Hope this helps. Sponges are great for menstruating. Amazingly comfortable.

Update: it has been a year since I started using sponges for menstruation. It has been my best experience with alternative menstrual absorbtive material. Not going back, ever. Something I love about using them is how I don't have to remove them to extend their absorption capacity hours; I just squat in the toilet, squeeze and the excess blood is out. And I go about my day.

The sea sponges seem...terribly unhygienic and dangerous.. that’s a no for me. But I guess if it works for someone else.
