sounds all very Green and Idyllic , they may be able to build in these systems to newly made ships , but retrofitting this into an older ship is probably a fairytale , I used to work on cruise liners , and space is a premium , and is accounted for and planned in the building phase ,

How can these people not immediately see the problem with dumping massive amounts of waste into the ocean? Is it really necessary to use officers to regulate these things? Is it because the ocean is so large and chunky, it becomes a case of "no big deal, we'll worry about it later"? Imagine you were to just come around every week and dump 3-4 bin bags into their living room, and then act surprised when they take offence, because the bin bags aren't very large compared to the rest of the room.

I really wonder what percentage of ships are processing waste in the manners shown in this video. Not just luxury cruise liners, but military vessels, fishing fleets, container ships and everything else on the seas. Most ships dump humans waste into the ocean as long as they are a certain distance from a country's coast line. I crossed the Atlantic Ocean twice in 1960, when I was 8 years old on two Cunard ocean liners. It was fun at 8:00 am every morning to stand up on deck, when the big bay doors opened at the stern of the ship and a hydraulic ram pushed the previous day's waste out into the ocean and mix with the propeller wake. Hundreds of sea gulls, that followed the ship across the Atlantic would swoop in and fight over the floating bounty. Everything was dumped into the ocean.

0:44 Stupid design requiring the crew to lift bins thar high just to empty. Clearly no thought gone into that 😒

It’s totally not. They have long histories of fines and they count the fines as a budget item. Celebrity is the worst of the worst. They just hope they don’t get caught, but mostly they don’t get caught. What happens at night, stays in the night.

Such such lies. At 3 am they all dump tons and tons into the water. Your karma for making this is gonna hurt your family.
