  • This video highlights the winners from a lineup of ten electric shavers in our full review. Check out all the details here: www.yourbestdi...
    The Panasonic - Arc3 is the best electric shaver. See it on Amazon: geni.us/arc3
    We buy everything we test ourselves and don't monetize these videos, but we get a commission from retailers if you buy through our links.
    After nine weeks testing ten designs side by side, our team has sorted and ranked the best new designs from all the top shaver manufacturers. The Panasonic - Arc3 mowed down the competition with the closest shave and affordable price to earn our pick for best electric razor.
    If you're more worried about irritation than saving money, the Braun - Series 7 is a good shave that should leave your cheeks and neck less sore. It doesn't cut as close as the Panasonic, and we don't think the cleaning stand is worth the hassle, but it's a lovely piece of gear.
    Index:
    How we selected - 0:04
    Foil vs. rotary shavers - 1:17
    How we tested - 2:23
    Best electric shaver - 4:09
    For sensitive skin - 5:54

    I used the Braun series 7 for a long time and that shaver really didn’t do well like I thought. It was not smooth at all and tugged a lot and pulled hair. It does not have moving blades that go in all directions like the Panasonic does. I have now a Panasonic arc 4 and 5 and they both clip and shave hair like you wouldn’t believe. No pulling or tugging. It has been a year and I still have a sharp clean cut and shave. Panasonic has wonderful blade tech that the blades move in ways that kills other razors. I will bee also getting a Philip’s 9000 which is expensive but it is a rotary shaver. I like more the foil shavers but a good rotary is good as well. But for a clean shave like a blade shave the Panasonic arc 4 and 5 are wonderful electric options. I never have tried and used the braun shaver when I had it wet. I don’t think the series 7 is made for wet/dry. I always have used it dry. Also I did oil it but that didn’t seem to make a different. The razor just tugged and snagged probably even worse than a rotary shaver. When I got the Panasonic’s though they both the 4 and 5 really grabbed the hair and you couldn’t even feel it. You can even feel long hair coming off. You might just feel a little tickle but it doesn’t at all snag like the Braun razors do. For the longest time I thought Braun was the best razor but really it is not. The worse razor would have to be Remington. I did have one that had a cleaning station but the damn thing broke in half. That was a while ago. That actually was years and years ago. The thing broke in half. For me Remington is cheap. I do not trust that brand but the Panasonic is so good as far as wet/ and dry shaving. No pulling of hair or nothing. You can enjoy your shave. The blades work in ways that other razors do work. The inter blades are constantly moving up and down and all around so you don’t feel any snagging. Where as the Braun the inner blade just moves back and forth. Plus in the Panasonic’s you have the cutters on the motor but then you have the blades that move in all directions inside the shaver head.

    I am keen on finding a razor that shaves close and also has a comb attachment for maintaining a medium to short beard. I don't want to beef up my dopp kit with two devices, a shaver and a trimmer. I have been using a Norelco 6900 with trimmer attachment. I bought a braun series 3 just to try it last month, using a razor is literally not possible or me every day, my face is stupidly sensitive and I rash up for days after using one. Got tired of having a beard and thought I'd try a safety razor after hearing they cause less irritation but even that was also a no for me. Using the braun in the shower with foam is the best I can do, gives a decently close shave and doesn't cause my face to turn into one big rash. Definetley recommend it. Might upgrade to the series 7 one later on. but for 30 quid the braun 3 is a great buy.

      @@arielspalter7425 Hi Ariel. I like it. Definitely an improvement over my previous rotary model. Like any electric I've used, there are areas that you need to go over a few times before you get everything (neck in particular), but that's a trade-off I'm willing to accept over a blade - and honestly, even with a blade, I would still have to hit some areas harder than others. I'm still using the original blades on the Remington, as they are working just as they did when I bought it. Obviously can't say how it compares to any others on the list, but I'd buy it again.

    I have currently Braun Series 7 7880cc. I bought it because it's very advanced. Has 5 motor speed gears, pop up trimmer, cleaning station etc... But, but, but. Performance is not comparable to Panasonic. I do regret because i haven't sticked to Panasonic. I'll get myself soon the Panasonic ES-LL21 or LL-41. First reason is the performance and how advanced is it as well. Also i like the fact it has the same performance of any Arc's in a family, but much smaller head. Big plus here. Compared to Braun, it has much more powerful motor, better blades, way easier maintenance. Remove the foil, clean the blades, done. Ready for next round. With Braun you have two options. Get it with a cleaning station or "unscrew" the plastic which is holding the blades to be able to get to them 😆. Bad move on this one. Overall, i choose Panasonic 👍

    I tried an arc 3 wasn’t a fan....it wouldn’t shave the hair on my neck. I had a braun series 3 before and I liked it a lot but the side burn trimmer broke off. While I could’ve gotten a new one for free probably I guess I was a little frustrated that it broke off and I got a Panasonic GB80...it would’ve been nice if it had a foil smoother attachment but it didn’t. Then I got a Panasonic ES-RT47-S Arc 3 and wasn’t happy with its performance in order to get a smooth shave I would have to press on my skin pretty hard causing painful razor bumps....not fun. I tried using it for awhile but it just disappointed me. So I went and bought a Braun series 5 5020s and I absolutely love it. I get the smooth shave I want with out razor bumps. I honestly think I’m gonna stick with Braun from now on.

    • @YourBestDigs

      It is a beast. Braun's blades aren't as nice, but they put Panasonic's batteries to shame. (Which is ironic since Panasonic makes some of the best Li-Ion cells.)
      To be fair, these numbers are from a run test without load, so actual shave time might be different. In the testing period we never hit the end-of-charge for the S5 or S7, since we were comparing different shavers, but we did manage to run the Panasonics all the way down in a few weeks.

    1 question does this take out ingrown hairs, and stubs from skin?

    • @YourBestDigs
      @YourBestDigs  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The moving blade inside can't grab anything from below your skin, since the "foil" is in the way. (Hairs have to poke through the foil.) The lift-and-cut bars on most shavers (usually the middle row) have sharper edges than the foils on either side, so it's possible that they could catch on a scab, pimple or ingrown hair bump and cause a cut.

      It almost made the cut, but remember it's quite a bit more expensive than the Arc5. (Especially if you're trying to get the more recent model.) After reading reviews we wanted to test a high-end shaver, so we picked the less-expensive of the two.

    • @jackoff1826
      @jackoff1826 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's an option on the series 7 (at least there was) that allowed for different settings for skin type.
      My first shaver was my grandpas old corded shaver from the late 70's probably. It was a Norelco hp1131 that you can surprisingly find being sold on eBay by a few people. It has a setting for how close of a shave you wanted, literally 9 or 10 settings. It worked so damn good and at the time I used it in the 90's, the thing was about 20 years old. If you wanted the closest shave possible, you'd be best to maintain the close shave every day or if you had sensitive skin you could simply go with a 2 or 3 setting just to make sure you don't irritate the skin. And if you missed a couple days of shaking, set the shaver to a 9 or something at first to get the hair down closer to be able to go at it at a closer setting. I've almost struggled to find a shaver as great as this one over the past couple decades and have gone with a couple cheaper Braun models for the most part... until being in the market now for another, which scares me to spend big money. There was one rotary shaver I had spent big money on about 20 years ago $250 thinking that's the route I had to go to get something as good as my grandfathers, it was some fancy Norelco at the time, and those blades seemed to hate my skin. No adjustments on the blade settings or anything. It was a waste. So the series 7 might be the way to go these days (if they still do the adjustment with the newer versions)

    Strongly disagree. Phillips series 9000 shaves the closest (compared to the best from braun) assuming you use coconut oil (i haven't tried conventional shaving cream but it should work as well) as shaving cream and the right shaving technique. I tried braun series 9 and it is simply junk. Mind you, i tried all shaving technique with it so it is surely not misuse from my part. It looks luxurious but shaves so bad its not even funny. Luckily i returned it and got a refund. Panasonic should not shave any better than the braun since both braun and panasonic use foil type. Mind you, i have a sensitive skin.

      A few days ago i bought the 9000 and got it for all most 50% off RRP. This is my 1st electric shaver and it gives me a shave that is very close to a razor while not irritating my skin, i used normal shaving gel. One thing i don't like about it is the side burn attachment is shit tho.

    There are like 10 different models of Panasonic Arc3 shavers alone, so this alleged best seems incredibly unreliable

      Panasonic keeps all of their old models around, for some reason. They also keep the very latest models out of North America, for some reason. It was a nightmare trying to decide which one to test. (Note that Braun has similar inventory weirdness, just to a lesser degree.)

      @@YourBestDigs So which model are you recommending? Or are all models basically the same?
