It's called the Carina E in Europe and we got plentiful of those back in those days and it's the last Carina in Europe. They are becoming a bit rare nowadays and there was a GTi version available that featured a 3S-GE. These cars were also raced in the British touring car championship and win various times against the dominant Volvo V70R

The Carina II had very soft suspension/dampers from factory. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Carina E had the same kind of setup.

This we're available in Europe as a Carina until it was replaced with the Avensis in 1998, also known as a Caldina in sedan form in japan. Europe still has the Avensis as in Japan.

Corona "the Barrel / the snowdrift". I've studied to drive on that model. 5MT, 2.0 diesel 2C, 4wd, all the possible (for Corona) options were powered only by buttons.
Nice car. No emotions, no risk of unexpected malfunction. Just another Toyota as it is supposed to be a Toyota.

these were known as the Carina E in Europe and the UK where they were built and are related to the sixth generation Celica/Curren. it was later modified to become the avensis/caldina.

Considering the mileage, its not a bad deal even after considering importing. Insurance might be expensive but all things considered, its probably a decent price for a probably good maintained car of this age.
If insurance wasn't a pig in Ontario I'd be calling up PCA for stuff like that. Great to see cars like this.
