ปี พ.ศ. 2528 - 2531 นายไพฑูรย์ สุนทรวิภาต ดำรงตำแหน่งผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดสตูล เห็นว่าจังหวัดสตูลยังไม่มีเพลงประจำจังหวัด จึงส่งเสริมให้มีการแต่งเพลงขึ้นหลายเพลง นายพล มัชฌิมพฤทธิ์ รับราชการที่ด่านศุลกากรเกาะยาว กรมศุลการักษ์ เป็นผู้ประพันธ์ เนื้อร้อง/ทำนองให้ ได้แก่เพลง ขวัญสตูล สตูลที่รัก มนต์รักปากบารา ทะเลบัน สาวพิมาน และสวรรค์เกาะยาว สมัยนั้นผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดสตูล ส่งเสริมให้ราษฎรเลี้ยงไก่ดำกันทั่วไป เนื้อร้อง เพลงขวัญสตูลจึงปรากฏคำว่า ไก่ดำ อยู่ด้วยเพราะเหตุนี้ ซึ่ง ผู้ขับร้อง คือ วินัย พันธุรักษ์ คำร้อง/ทำนอง คือ พล มัชฌิมพฤทธิ์ และจังหวะเพลง รองเง็ง

Year 1985 - 1988 Mr. Paitoon Sunthornwipat Governor of Satun Province. saw that Satun Province still doesn't have a provincial song. Therefore, it encouraged the composing of many songs. Phon Matchimparit served at the Koh Yao Customs House. Customs Department is the author Lyrics/compositions include the songs Kwan Satun, Satun Rak, Mon Rak Pak Bara, Talay Ban, Sao Phiman and Sawan Koh Yao. At that time the governor of Satun Province Encourage the people to raise black chickens in general. The lyrics of the song Khwan Satun have the word black chicken included for this reason. The singer is Winai Panturak, the lyrics/music are Phon Matchimprut, and the rhythm of the song is Ronngeng.
