I still use blue magic on my hair. I cut out a lot of natural hair care products and went back to the basics. It’s been the best way for my hair to grow and stay healthy
Even though they set not to do this before a braid appointment, I definitely put grease on my ends. It has saved my ends so much damage from the synthetic braiding hair
I can see that. It likely makes the hair harder to grip because it smooths it out and the best thing about our hair is the texture which makes it easier to braid.
👋🏾, stylist and braider here . Skip the edge control and always always always add some sort of barrier in-between your hair and the braids. A leave in conditioner and then shea butter whatever suits your fancy to mid shaft of your hair and ends It saves you from dry brittle hair once you take it down. You can oil your scalp if you so choose while your hair is braided however it's much harder to moisturize hair that's already in braids. I don't even know if that's what this video is about. I just wanted to agree with the young lady it's time for a change.
I just recently went back to using blue magic a month ago for my daughter who has very dry skin and nothing was working. I said I don’t recall all this drama growing up when mom used grease in our hair. It has been a game changer for her. I started applying to my hair and oh my goodness what a huge difference in the softness and healthy look! Thanks for sharing!
I stopped using grease years ago around the movement. But recently I experienced breakage and I’m like I’m oiling my scalp but my hair is still being nourished. I went to my mom bathroom and saw some grease and I took it lol … mind you my mom perms and fry’s her hair and she doesn’t have any breakage. After using her grease my hair was bouncing back and flourishing immediately ! I went out and bought more grease and stock up just in case people find out the secret 😊
I used avocado/olive oil to seal but recently I went back to grease, my ends stay moisturize longer and less breakage with grease . No scalp problems, regular grease on the length and sulfur 8 light on scalp. Chefs kiss 💋
I have seborrhea dermatitis and using medicated shampoo every week tore my hair up. I use sulfur 8 in between shampoos (wash every 2-3 weeks) and my scalp stays healthy. I also apply so scalp and brush through before flat ironing and my silk presses always last 2-3 weeks+
You were one of the FIRST natural hair TH-camrs who I came across and followed when I big chopped 15 years ago! I watched for inspiration and styling ideas when I had no clue how to moisturize or maintain it. I’ve always loved your hair from when you went red to back to black. You always shared the tea on maintenance and products for caring for our natural hair. I remember using Blue Magic way back too and Dax (the green one) and Kuza Indian hemp. Stopped by my local beauty supply the other day and was surprised to see all the different variations of Blue Magic. I only remember the blue one from back in the day! I did pick up the super gro one and tried it today. So far zero complaints! Glad to see you’ve incorporated this segment back into your channel 😊 your Bantu knot out is gorgeous as usual.
I never stopped using grease. I'm 30+ now and ever since I can remember my mom has used grease and castor oil in our hair. We've always had a full head of healthy long hair and it's a simple routine. So I didn't feel the need to fix what wasn't broken. Only thing I've added to it is a butter
I use Vaseline and grease on my ends. I mix a little Vaseline and castor oil with my face moisturizer. My skin looks amazing. Of course, I've also been working on my diet.
Lots of gems dropped in this video! I tried returning to using grease a few months back, but I couldn't figure out the right place for it within my regimine. I feel like adding it under my styler may be the cheat code, lol. I have always appreciated your honestly and the way you embrace all aspects of the glorious beauty that is our natural hair!! tfs!!
LEEEE!!! Im so excited to try I can't wait to take these braids out this weekend , I knew I wanted my bush I was just goin to do it my reg way but im goin to try them your way 😍 def was brought up on Blue magic I use it for my sons hair now
Leee, thank uooo stepping up and defending the Blue Magic. The grease Old Faithful. Why we got away from using the grease because the others🙄 got into it
I still use grease (Vo5 to be exact). But I was usit on my scalp because I have medium density hair (more on the fine side). After watching this highly anticipated video 😉 I will be trying this soon.
Leeee thank you for coming to Greece defense. I am older I still use Blue Magic. When the youngins Come to Me asking Miss Avis what can I use on my daughter's hair daughter's hair, I asked what are you using and they give me some old mess what ever is trending .you don't supposed to put grease on your scalp. 🙄 they say..we got away from it when the trends changed and people started cashing in on the natural hair Trend . they have black ball grease. 😔 that's why
Grease will give you some beautiful waves and coils grease and water man that's how I used to get my Afro to stay. Every other day I would have to put water in my hair put grease on it braided up and then I will tuck it under and take it out the next day and I will have a nice curly Afro❤😊
I still use my Indian Hemp grease every now and then. I don't like using it all of the time especially in the summer because it can run down and create acne on my forehead. It gets on my glasses, my purse, girl... I have grease prints all over stuff.
I stopped using it years ago but only because I grew up with perms and didn’t go natural until I was in college. So, I kind of always associated grease with permed hair not natural hair. But maybe I’ll give it a try. Also, details on this choker necklace ? It’s gorgeous!
I believe we stopped using grease in our hair because "greasy hair" is frowned upon in the straighter community hair. The transfer of the oil, the heaviness, etc became a lot

That sounds like a great hair routine!
I definitely & will ALWAYS incorporate hair grease in my regimen. It has so many benefits for the hair not to use it.

I recently went back to grease for my twist outs and I also went back to a pressing comb when I want to lightly dust my ends
I use Vaseline and grease on my ends. I mix a little Vaseline and castor oil with my face moisturizer. My skin looks amazing. Of course, I've also been working on my diet.

Yup, I use black magic grease and xtreme gel for my wash n go.
now that sounds like a combo
Do you apply gel first then grease or grease then gel?
Hello Lee your hair is thick and healthy.Your hair came out pretty and fluffy. I haven’t used grease in a while but I would use it again.💜🌸
Thank you! I'm glad you loved the results!
I started using it a month ago before doing mini twist and it kept my hair moisturized. I used the blue magic olive oil grease.
That is so cool! I’m glad you found something that works for you.
That style is so cute!! I don't have a dryer but ima try it air drying. Hope it comes out like hers. 🤞🏾
I hope it works out for you. It’s a lot of fun!

I still use my Indian Hemp grease every now and then. I don't like using it all of the time especially in the summer because it can run down and create acne on my forehead. It gets on my glasses, my purse, girl... I have grease prints all over stuff.
Girl, I feel you! Grease can be a little messy! 😂
Beautiful
Thank you so much! It's my current favorite hairstyle. 😊
I still use hair grease
I stopped using it years ago but only because I grew up with perms and didn’t go natural until I was in college. So, I kind of always associated grease with permed hair not natural hair. But maybe I’ll give it a try.
Also, details on this choker necklace ? It’s gorgeous!
It's definitely a game changer for natural hair! And it's so fun to wear. the choker is from forever
@ thank you! 💕
What brand was the holding spray?
Loreal
I have never stopped wearing Blue Magic or Coconut Oil grease. My hair needs grease.
Same, didn't hop on the no grease no oils trend. I just kept doing what my hair needed and loves
Is there a fragrant -less grease?
I don't think this one is but I am sure some are.
I believe we stopped using grease in our hair because "greasy hair" is frowned upon in the straighter community hair. The transfer of the oil, the heaviness, etc became a lot
I totally agree. It's time to reclaim our beauty standards!
What kind of hair spray do you use? I can’t keep a twist out more than one day because of humidity
Loreal

It’s the no you I don’t! 😆😆🤣
I still you grease, but not for all my hairstyles. ✋🏾
