- Top White House Official has said that Russian defensive preparations are slowing down the pace of Ukrainian counteroffensive to reclaim 'lost' territories. White House acknowledged Ukraine's President's admission that the much-hyped operation has not made significant gains on the battlefield. U.S. NSC Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said there were objective reasons for the slow pace of the counteroffensive. As per Kirby, the Russians knew what awaited them and prepared well. Watch what he said here.

"They knew" Gee, I wonder how they knew about the Counteroffensive?
He says defense is the strongest position in war which makes the Bahkmut battle that much more impressive on behalf of the Russians. Bahkmut was a fortress and it was taken in less than a year. Some might say it took a long time but with modern weaponry and defensive capability this was not long at all to take a position that was extremely fortified and defensed. The question is can Ukraine take any of the Russian defenses in 9 months starting from June. Not expecting them to take the whole front but can they retake any area that Russia has dug in, in the same amount of time or less. Russia has so far has been able to attack and defend, while Ukraine has been only able to react. The more time it takes Ukraine to try and breach an area, the more time it gives Russia to complete fortifications along the entire front and from there start to advance. By August we should see Russia start to advance from one of the 3 regions (Kharkiv, Bahkmut, and Zaporizhia). I gave Ukraine too much credit it seems and thought they would be able to launch some type of successful offensive but their leadership seems inept or Russia is just that capable.

Go back and read up on what Ukraine themselves said about Bahkmut months ago. They said and claimed it was a fortress and put a lot of stock into it and Russia rolled right over it in less than a year. If it was not important then why is Ukraine trying to retake it and also did not accept its defeat even after the entire world knew it was lost.
Don't forget Russia also took another stronghold in Mariupol which was considered another fortress. Every fortress Ukraine claims to have is eventually toppled by Russia. When they complete their fortifications of the current frontline they will set their sights on another supposed fortress.
