I believe "A Little You" is the group's best recording. Freddie was the most underrated singer from the British Invasion. He could out sing a great number of lead vocalists. Here's to those wonderful times!
@@BleedBNG it did briefly hit the top 40 in the US, but no, it wasn't as big as "I'm Telling You Now" or "Do The Freddie". The group was thought of more of a novelty act , and music critics couldn't stand them like the fans did, despite attempts to sing serious ballads like this one & "I Understand." "A Little You" was their last US Top 40 as the fad of The Dreamers waned in the US after that. 1965 was definitely their year.
Probably Freddies best recording, sadly only reached no.26 in the UK charts. Don't hear enough of him on the radio these days even on the 60/70/80 stations.
When Freddie passed a few years back, I had the honor of talking to the woman that ran the US website for F&TD. I wrote then, what I could not say, when I bought this single at the age of 11...it was almost metal to me then...it seemed to roar out of the 3" x 5" speaker on my Atkins record player. The 60's had their bad spots....but they were still enchanted years. What a time to grow up.
Wotta surprise to see this show up on TH-cam! Like many others, I've always thought this was Freddie & the Dreamers best and definitely toughest performance. It kinda makes up for "A Windmill in Old Amsterdam."

I'm really surprised it didn't take in the States. Would have liked to have heard this song as a kid.
@@BleedBNG It was on Freddie and the Dreamers' best album, "Do the Freddie". It started the second side, if I remember right. I wore that album out!
Freddie often acted like a clown distractung from his
music. This & do the Freddie I still listen to, a very
upbeat song

Did a great live version of this one at the NME Pollwinners concert 1965.
A totally underrated mega-talent. The best true singer of the whole British Invasion.
My favourite freddie and the dreamers song!
Brilliant singer very underrated group wish we could bring them all back
Probably Freddies best recording, sadly only reached no.26 in the UK charts.

Best recording by Freddie. The Holly influence is definitely here.
When I first heard this I thought it was the Searchers

RIP Derek Quinn... this is my favorite Freddie and the Dreamers song.
He was a great guitarist. I read he passed from Covid 19 infection.
One of their best songs

the best song of Freddie indeed !!!!
Easily!
It rocks really, not too hard just really good.
...was #25 on the CHUM Chart on Aug 23/65..
Rock and roll!
Released on Mercury in The States b/w "The Things I Like to Say."
Good job with such a great song. I think they were underated. Really don't here anything about them anymore and never really did anyway.
Great song, great band and a very underrated band at most. Cool re-master. :)
Unfortunately, it was the clowning around that made them famous but later blinded people to them being actually quite talented.
brillant - GREAT
Originally released on Mercury records (U.S.) in June 1965.
Thanks for the great upload...
a great song by the real 60s dreamers original vocals by freddie
Still got the 45
The dreamers were good but one time they were taken into a professional studio and this was the result
I can't find the up tempo version of" the very thought of you" also bin Freddy and the dreamers
The b side side is brilliant called I will
This really didn't need the orchestral backing. It might have charted higher as a straight rock and roll song. RIP Freddie.
works for me with and without the strings. Great ditty !!
hij is mooi bedank
What I want to know is...who's playing the piano? It sounds so good and it holds the song structure together!
Probably a session pianist. Manfred Mann played organ on Playboy (a flop single).
needs more reverb
Sorry I will is the b side to I understand
Prefiero el sonido original.
