I use librarything but so far only for what I have read, but this was a fun video, must be nice to know what you actually own! I forget! I have a friend who often buys books twice because he has forgotten he owns them!
This was very interesting. I had no idea about this app and it seems very helpful to keep track of books especially if your library is very large like mine. I have often bought a book that I already owned. Thanks for the info!
Yes indeed! I was so happy when I found it. It’s been a long term goal of mine to get my books more organized. As you saw in the video, I definitely have a lot of books, so it seemed overwhelming until I found the app. I hope it helps you too!
Thanks for the LibraryThing tip! I am selective about which books I keep once I've read them, so I don't have quite the collection you have. That being said, I may give this a try.
This is me being selective. 😅 I only keep books i rate 4 stars+ and that I really love. The problem is that at least 75% of the books are unread, so I need to start reading and clearing them out more.
Thanks for introducing me to this app. I’ve been thinking of doing an inventory of my books but didn’t really want to enter them all onto a spread sheet. While this will take some time to scan all my books in, it will be a lot faster then typing out every author/title. I like all the stats/info it gives as well. Will also be so handy when going to a library book sale etc.
I’m so happy this was helpful! I had the same dilemma. Manual inventory via spreadsheet is so intimidating. Next time you do a bookshelf cleanup, make a bit of extra time to scan them all and it won’t be so bad. :) thanks for dropping by! 💜
This is fantastic! I am in love with all the great books around you ! Ugh 😩 this is a great video to get motivated. Spring is coming so I am going to try this out ! Music and organizing ❤
Yes! That’s what inspired me to jump into it. I always spring clean the house and since I had piles of books everywhere, I figured I’d start with that.
Inventorying my books has been one of the best things I’ve ever done. It’s been so useful in many ways and definitely worth taking the time to do. Loved looking at your stats and looking forward to seeing your end results.📚
I’m hoping it will be a similar experience for me! Once I have everything uploaded, I want to really sit down and analyze the data to create reading plans going forward. I’m glad that stats section wasn’t too boring. I felt like I rambled on for a fair bit. 😅 Thank you for stopping by.
I'm not super familiar with Tinycat, so I don't have an answer for you there, although it looks to be from the same company. As for using a laptop, there is a method for inputing books manually via the computer. You just search the book title and you can add it to your collection
I’m not a big e-reader, so no, I don’t buy digital copies. This is only based on my physical books. But you could definitely do dígital inventory with it if you wanted to.
Have you tried Book Track or Book Buddy? I’ve used Library Thing for years, but I have well over 1000 books now and find that the app is super slow when I’m searching through my collection to see if already own a book. Have you experienced that?
I haven’t tried either. I haven’t noticed that Library Thing is particularly slow, but I’m usually connected to decent wifi or in a good service area for data. That said, my collection is currently only about 500 books.

I think it has the functionality to show what has been read and what has not been read, so once I get everything added in for inventory, I will go through and rate/review all the books I’ve read so far. And yes! I’ve done that once or twice where I’ve accidentally double purchased a book. I’m hoping this will cut down on that.
Had not heard of that app. Will check it out!
I hope it works well for you!
Oh!! Im going to check this app out!!
I hope you enjoy it!

That’s a good way to do it! It’s so helpful knowing what I own. I’ve definitely accidentally bought books twice before. 😅

I love LibraryThing. I use it as an inventory (still incomplete) and a replacement for Goodreads.
Awesome! I was so excited when I found it. I’ve been wanting to inventory my book collection for a long time.

What a great way to inventory and organize your books! I like how it recommends books, and you can easily add them to your wishlist.
Yes! It makes the process so much easier.

That's quite an app. I can see how useful it is with a large book collection.
Omg! It saves so much time!
What is the difference between this and Tinycat? And a minor point is that I haven't got a mobile phone! Maybe one can do it via a desk-top computer?
