Dave, this is just a great surprise!! Being 65 yrs old now, and the Knicks of today are finally relevant again, first time in 30 years(1994). Very Few remember that six or seven months before this game, the NBA Champion Celtics took SEVEN games to beat the Bernard King led Knicks in the Eastern Conference semi finals to move on toward their Championship. So this game is 40 years old, and I was 25! This is such an Amazing Gift!!!!!!!!!!! The entire game!!!! Thank you!!!!
I have searched for over 25 years for MJs' regular season games. My vhs collection is withered at best. Dave, I found your channel, and I couldn't be happier! The quality in resolution like this you just can't find. And for it to be games that you also just can't find. You really ARE A GOD SEND! From my family to yours. Thank you, and God Bless!
The pre-game interview with Hubie Brown was outstanding. How often have you heard a coach give such detailed, articulate, and insightful answers after losing 5 games in a row? No cliches, no dismissive responses. Great stuff. And watching Jordan in his rookie season brings back so many great memories.
Yep! No surprise he’s become one of the greatest TV analysts of all time. When I was a camper at 5 Star in the 90’s I saw him lecture and what a treat it was.
This wasn't the greatest recording to begin with, but Topaz cleaned out TONS of crud from it. Check out before/after screenshots here -- imgbox.com/g/QTvP9OFI6e
Dave you have restored a timeless classic, Jordan’s first ever NBA game. This game should be in the Smithsonian now with the work you did. Now that you have the Knicks on your channel all I need is my Mets to make their debut on your channel. Hopefully that day will come soon.
He was destroying the league that year (nearly 33 ppg). Then, in a game at Kansas City, he tore his knee up. Although he came back, he was never quite the same again.
MJ comes to MSG for the first time and puts up 33!. Thanks Dave. Miss the old MSG broadcasts. Also miss hearing Hubie Brown talking hoops. Guy just seemed to talk the game unlike many others.
Agreed. A foul was a foul. A travel was a travel. Palming was palming. Three seconds in the lane was three seconds in the lane. The sad part is, the current game plays under, essentially, the same rulebook. SMH
I wonder if you have any 80s Sacramento Kings games. My dad used to take me as a boy to the cheap seats to watch them when I was too young to know what was going on. Just strong memories of wearing those red white and blue colors and happy to be among the excitement. It would be great to see some of the games i "saw" live in person at 4/5/6 years old, but as an adult and understanding what is going on.
MSG Network showed this as part of their Vault Series but i dont think they showed alot of the game i think they just showed a few minutes of the game. And ironically my comment is the 23 Comment on this video

can you share with us your games and do you have a list of your stuff at all?

Truly a Professor of the game. And a gentleman. He's still calling games today at 90 years old. Tip of the cap to Hubie Brown.

Thanks, Dave! I wish all NBA games were from this camera angle. Really reveals the athleticism.
Thank you so much Dave! Michael Jordan rookie game in HD. 👍
Had to be one of the first MJ games. Thanks, Dave!
Absolute brilliance. More 1980s NBA and MLB, please sir. This is gold.
It is!!!
Super job on cleaning up the recording, Dave. Thanks so much for sharing NBA gold. As an NBA-history podcaster, this warms my heart.

1:33:21 the crowd buzz after that dunk was insane
Great game. Thank you! Jordan as a rookie was mesmerizing

Actually this was Jordan's 7th game :)
@@davevolskysbackdoor5673 ahhh, his first game at MSG.
Great to watch Bernard King at his peak!
He was destroying the league that year (nearly 33 ppg). Then, in a game at Kansas City, he tore his knee up. Although he came back, he was never quite the same again.
Dave for president!!!! These are great videos and makes me feel like a kid again.
Thank you, Dave! Just what I was hoping for. Seeing Jordan in good quality video is a real treat.
As a life long fan, nice to hear the voice of John Condon who was the PA announcer for the Knicks back in those days.

Thanks Dave! Another wonderful surprise!!
It felt like i was watching the game in person court side,MJ was amazing, incredible athleticism.
Coaches corner! Best basketball era ever.

Thank you for this. Amazingly clean.
Hubie Brown might be the smartest coach in NBA history. Listen to how much detail he's giving on why the Knicks are doing bad during that time period
Gold.
I was one month and 6 days old [2 October 1984].
So nice to see the NBA game called by the actual rules of basketball. Remember the rulebook?
It’s so hard to understand why people are so blind to the fact that this rookie would take anyone to school.
👍🏾✌🏾
20:17, that's the good stuff 🥵
Perms and Combovers Oh My!!!
Thank you!
Who were these experts that said MJ couldn’t hit a 16 foot jump shot with consistency?
Awesome! More NBA please
Was this MJ’s 7th game as a pro? Wild.
Wow. I swear people on average were smarter back then
It’s a fact. Intelligence is declining globally. The fruits of our technological progress.

Yeah. Bill Russell on the sideline and Theus, Drew, LaSalle Thompson, Eddie Johnson, Olberding, Ed Pinckney, Kenny Smith, Michael Jackson..........
You can have all your light shows, smoke and drama. Nothing will top the introduction of the starting lineups by the late great John Condon.
🔥🏀🔥

niiiiice!!!
Was that Sam Rosen as the host?
Where was Marv ?
One other comment: The 3 point line is there, but nobody is taking any threes. And Michael Jordan still has semi "tighty" old style NBA shorts on!!
Jordan got called for traveling?
