Jon, Don't underestimate the Happiness buff; especially for slaver empires (like if you want to roleplay as some glorious space Aztecs) Happiness directly affects Stability, which also then can affect literally every yield on all of your planets. It's a small 1-2% range, but noteworthy nonetheless; and if you role high and get closer to a 20-30 happiness boost, that can be even more of a boost to literally everything in your empire. (oh, and it helps slaving despot types deal with potential revolts)
Exactly. I'm running this right now as a memorialist. And the stability to pop growth spam is very real. Especially since that -pop growth is a lie. You're earning 3 new pops (6 on upgrade) every decade on every world with a Chamber. *And* stability. The problem lies in that 1) you will turn your empire sprawl into a number approaching the national debt in short order. And 2) You never. Ever. Have enough Consumer Goods. Also, Nihilistic Acquisition w/ necrophage= all the pops you'll ever need. Just don't let those egalitarian bleeding hearts pass laws that ban your necessary use of other species as...fodder.

I've played a bit with necroids. Base growth for organic pops is fast enough to not be completely exhausted by use of chambers of elevation, though sometimes in colonies if your not careful you can run out of normal pops.

Tip I found out that worked great... take those primitives and DON"T invade. you can't do anything with those pops for 3600 days. better tecno advance them and make them into a vassals. Then max out opinion of one of the two. release that pleb then form a hegemony. You now have a federation of you and 2 members. (the other is your pleb and a member of the federation. If you also influence them first you can convert them to your government first, making a better member of the federation. but not necessary. The playstyle I used next was to make vassals out of my outer sectors (new taken lands) forming one sector vassals. they will keep the federation navy full, also when needed you can use your excess influence to integrate a pleb to get more pops and take their fleet (you didn't have to build). rinse and repeat. remember all members of the federation should be your plebs so you can prune the branches easy
Jon, you want colony ships to get away. All those scared civilians can go find a nice out of the way haven to build up for years.. Then you swarm in and take it!
Congrats on 500k MaTN. But I will point to Stefon's use of Death Cult in the Paradox MP event and say that the Pop for Unity/Stability trade is a solid one. Happier workers are more productive workers. And snowballing Tradition trees is never a losing proposition either. And necrophage is Syncretic Evolution, done better and more sinister. Playing one now, and pops are *not* an issue. In fact, I've used population controls this game more than any before. BTW, your subspecies will be around a *lot* longer than 3 decades. As their pop growth continues unless you stop it.
It was kinda painful to see Jon fall right into the trap of how not to play a necrophage lol. Take nihilistic accuasition and abduct pops, don't take over worlds you can't live on. Also he skipped over the memorialist civic which is kinda the best thing in the pack overall.

Because at base speed it should only take about 8 and a third years to grow three pops, which is the number of pops that the base building converts to your main species. In addition you should generally want to be going strong, adaptable, and rapid breeders on your secondary species with fleeting and unruly as the negatives for your secondary species because they don't matter that much as negatives (esp for your secondary species). That increases the production of your worker and slave pops, increases the speed at which they grow to only about 6 and 2/3rds years for 3 pops, and increases the number of planets they can live on because you'd want to send the secondary species as colonists as they can grow and can eventually become your primary species. And ofc adaptability means that even though your free worlds were replaced with primitives you're able to use more planets.
Speaking of Lithoids, have you ever done a Terravore run? It's like devouring swarm but you eat the planets themselves. Couples well with Calamitous Birth.

The Stellar Culture Shock modifier is just on primitive planets you've invaded, which is why the cyborgs didn't care but the iron age guys needed like 10 years, surprisingly it has nothing to do with the zombie death cult. I think it's more of a balance thing because otherwise invading would always be the superior option whatever your civics.
You know I have always wanted to see Jon play as a war based culture, not just eventually become one due to circumstance. So I would love to see a Jon converts the galaxy game so he can become an unofficial end game crisis in his own right.
I really quite hope that in another version or two we can get a new series on Stellaris. Perhaps after they introduce espionage or overhaul districts once more? Or both?

MATN playing Stellaris as a race of Trauma Harnesses was the OWB cross-over I never knew I needed.
I guess zombies and robots figuring out how to absorb each other is the opposite of humans and mermaids figuring out how to bone each other.

Exactly, then there are free mods too, like More Events and Auto Repeatable Research, which add content and make the late game more playable.
All of that doesn't matter when the game completely freezes at year 100 from the performance.
