Well you should know that in our India, the marriage which was practice most was the Gandharv vivah. Girls have the right to choose her groom. Even some of them married old man too. So who think that movie is destroying India cultur and traditional should stop being stereotypes and let girl decide who she wants to marry after they have reached their consent age. If you think that groom has some defects except the caste and clan then tell her straight forward that he is not suitable groom , he has (what ever bad habit he possesses) that or he is not earning enough to handle his and yours livelihood. And even if she doesn't agree let her do whatever she wants to and cut all ties from her telling her that if in future your decision proved wrong we won't be with you. If you go with our selected groom and it is proved wrong we will be with you till end. That's all.
Rest I agree but choosing a partner should be done by woman or man not by their parents ofc parents can do background check and check the character of the person whom son or daughter wants to marry . If the character is not suitable and still son and daughter marries then either they improve their partner or they suffer but family should never close the doors even if they take wrong decisions ofc parents have warned them but parents love and care should be more than their ego and always keep their doors open for the kids . If parents cut ties with their suffering daughter then where will she go ? even if she is independent has good income source she can manage her living but still family is needed she will be lonely and will take more wrong decision to remove her loneliness. And if unfortunately she is dependent and parents are not supporting then jst like many previous generations Indian woman she has to endure all the pain and suffering life time . Ego should not be come in between any rlnships , if daughter does love marriage by her choice or arrange marriage decided by her parents and in any case if she ended up being tortured and abused then parents should support and save their daughters as early as possible . People generally don't break ties with son even if he marries against parents wish and if son gets divorce parents insults him but they expect him back do same for ur daughters pls .
