This is Doomguy after a psychotic break and they're throwing everything they can at him to stop him, to slow him down, to get him to hesitate for one moment. But he's far beyond caring. The difference between fear and dread: You fear something because you don't know what it might do. You dread something because you know *exactly* what it will do.
(this isnt cannon its just what i like the think) its like, after he killed enough demons he thought they were even so now in doom 2016-eternal he killed them quickly and efficiently, not to reduce the pain since they dont feel pain, but to not slow down, also just incase there is a little bit of human soul left in the demon that does feel pain and he doesnt want to hurt it so he kills the demon quickly. BUT later something happened that made him just lose it completely and now he just tanks the hits, not even running, just walking towards the demons while thinking of the most painful ways to kill them, because he doesnt care if they dont feel pain. He just does it and they beg for it to end if they can talk.

The original makes you feel like in a never-ending cycle of killing demons, fast, efficient, with aggression beyond even your understanding. This version; however, makes you realize that you are not stuck in hell with the demons, they are stuck in hell with you. You are not in any hurry, walking slowly through the piles of mutilated corpses, draging a demon and just watching as you prey runs, only for you to then catch up to them, pummel them into oblivion and kill them in ways, that are sheerly brutal, vile and wretched. You have no rage, you have just the need to kill. To add, this does not give you just the perspective of the slayer. It shows you just how horrified the demons are.
You can do this if your a good enough lucid dreamer, just get the will to get up, and since it’s your mind, if you have the willpower… well, you aren’t the one in danger anymore.
Original version makes me think of doom guy in a montage of ripping and tearing through hordes of demons, this, this feels like doom guy reloading and cleaning his weapon while slowly being shown the mountains of corpses he’s sitting on.
This feels like a ponderous, methodical, stalking massacre. No haste or adrenalin, just cold calculating slaying on a pace that says "I am inevitable and unescapable".
I can just imagine being in a nightmare. I am running from monsters but then the dream becomes a lucid dream, which means I now have all control over the dream. And I stop running and turn around to face the demon. Then I give a little smile, and next............ *This song kicks in*

The original sounds like the actual gameplay. This one sounds like time is slowed down, with Doomguy walking in "normal" speed, and killing demons one by one in indescribable ways. This sounds like he's walking up to an Imp, fueled by nothing but pure rage, and sticking his fingers into its chest, grabbing its heart, and slowly but violently ripping it out and crushing it. He's doing that kind of unique violence for every. Single. Demon. God knows what he'd do to a Cyberdemon.
This song perfectly summarizes the difference between Rage and Fury. Rage is more in control, feels more agile. You can think. Fury stops all mental function. You are no longer in control. You don't use weapons, as YOU are the weapon. You fling yourself at the enemies, fist or something basic in hand, ready to start a melee fight. All strategy leaves the mind in exchange for the pure overwhelming strength adrenaline gives.
The original feels like his unending rage channeled into fueling his raging battle lust, rampaging through the battlefield leaving but chunks of death. Like a exploding sea of magma. This one. This one feels like the rage has tipped past boiling point, and suddenly, the pure, unadulterated rage completely overtakes him, and something snaps, and his mind became blank. He exists solely in the now, and only here. With his mind in a weird state of intense focus spread on everything around him. Like the world became one. Thinking does not happen anymore. Only action, in silence, and a cold, intense, and menacing oppression washes over every single being around him as he instinctively (with surgical precision) moved according to the most efficient route and slaying demons with the most efficient methods, not wasting a single bit of effort and time, at a seemingly slow pace yet crossing distances quickly with wide, steady steps at a constant speed. Like a cold, sharp, forged surgical knife.
The original is psychopathic, taking joy in the rush, the adrenaline of the kill, this feels sociopathic, like something that is done like any other task, no enjoyment yet no mercy
If this was on Spotify I would totally put this in my playlist to feel like a bad*ss because the original was angry and brutal but this one feels like years of anger is a coming out no thoughts no plans no remorse just anger and the only thing you think is pain

The original sounds like the actual gameplay. This one sounds like time is slowed down, with Doomguy walking in "normal" speed, and killing demons one by one in indescribable ways. This sounds like he's walking up to an Imp, fueled by nothing but pure rage, and sticking his fingers into its chest, grabbing its heart, and slowly but violently ripping it out and crushing it. He's doing that kind of unique violence for every. Single. Demon. God knows what he'd do to a Cyberdemon.

This one. This one feels like the rage has tipped past boiling point, and suddenly, the pure, unadulterated rage completely overtakes him, and something snaps, and his mind became blank. He exists solely in the now, and only here. With his mind in a weird state of intense focus spread on everything around him. Like the world became one. Thinking does not happen anymore. Only action, in silence, and a cold, intense, and menacing oppression washes over every single being around him as he instinctively (with surgical precision) moved according to the most efficient route and slaying demons with the most efficient methods, not wasting a single bit of effort and time, at a seemingly slow pace yet crossing distances quickly with wide, steady steps at a constant speed. Like a cold, sharp, forged surgical knife.

This feels like it'd ne a really great soundtrack for the "First Age" of Doomslayer, when he was simply fending off and slaughtering the occupants of hell with a sword. I still think it might be a novelty idea but DAMN, the lore stating Doomslayer killing demons since Medieval times really makes me want a Medieval Doom game despite how absolute niche and far from the original genre it would fall.
