- TURN ON THE SUBTITLES I was lucky enough to try Japan Airlines' brand new First Class suites on their new A350-1000 on the way back from Tokyo Haneda to New York JFK. It's was a magical trip from start to finish. While I loved the business class on the way there JAL's new First Class sets the bar very high. Their service was incredible, the crew was one of the best I've ever had on a plane, and the food was delicious. The new suites are, in my opinion, the best first class seats out there. I liked them better than the Emirates' Game Change 777 First Class seats.

Japan Airlines and ANA (I have flown both) put all American airlines to shame for their service, graciousness and cleanliness.

Great news that JAL is ordering additional A350-900 and will use for international flights!
I like how there's a possibility of having a bed and a chair next to it at the same time. This suite is classy without being over the top. Very elegant!

Japanese are the best in designing 'boxed' products. So much thoughts and cultural influenced in it. Plus the food and service, pretty much a complete JAL experience.

The standard for first-class is still Singapore First Suites (especially for couples) and The Residence.
The air stewards and stewardesses are the heart of any flight, they work so hard and are so knowledgeable. My ex sister in law was a British Airways stewardess, some of the stories about ungrateful, entitled (or in their own world) passengers who treated airline staff as servants really annoyed me.

Have a look at Singapore Air's First Class and Etihad's The Residence. You'll be surprised just how large an airplane seat can get

Like the bed and chair next to each other, this is a precursor to Qantas' upcoming Project Sunrise in First Class for their A350-1000 Ultra Long Hauls. Even that chair section (side seat) can become part of the bed. Although it's enough room for you and maybe a small child to read a little book with, it's really only certified to hold one sleeper for safety reasons.

great video. may I add though 34:49 when you are eating caviar you shouldn't use a metal spoon, it adjusts the taste of the caviar and not the best. A mother of pear spoon is the best choice.
right! they didn't offer any mother of pearl spoon for the caviar
Either plastic or wood spoon also work fine.
I guess when they serve the Japanese meal, they expected the passenger to know how to use chopsticks and scoop them onto the fish.

I’m a Japanese American, and NO expert in Japanese culture. That being said, I was taught that you dip the fish part, not the rice part in the soy sauce. Some people put the wasabi on top of the sushi, some people mix it in the soy sauce. Not sure which is the correct way. But I say, if you’re not in some kind of traditional setting, enjoy it whichever way you like.

On QF sites you can obtain points awards in all classes.Better availability if Emerald.Quite generous unlike Qantas own awards seats and ridiculous points usage and fees.
I’m Qantas Platinum but checking on QF website there aren’t any award availability for JAL First Class from Haneda to JFK. Maybe JAL First is hard to book for any redemption
Better still, depending on dates, there is POS F on JAL if using F RTW ONEWORLD TICKET 455 K MILES

Wasabi in Soy sauce is totally the norm just go easy on the wasabi !!
The only thing wrong with the incredible service was no proper utensil for the caviar. Abalone shell spoon is the best. Not regular silverware.

All that wasted electricity and space in the lounge for what? How many people did they think would use first class? There's 100s of chairs and amenities it's obscene in today's society when we are trying to reduce waste and load, and trying to cut carbon footprints. One rule for the rich and one for the poor, and it's the poor who pay every time.

I cannot believe how poorly designed this First Class suite is. When I first saw the PR photos and video I thought - wait for the real videos to start being uploaded to decide what I think. Well after seeing the finer details it's worse than I expected. The seat pattern still looks cheap. The pull out table contraption is clunky and traps you in your seat until after the meal service is over. The shoe drawer is not big enough. I'll stop there.
Good observations! The table really does block you from getting out even if you can push it a little bit! Regarding the shoe box, I thought my shoes were just too big 😅
The Taylor Swift comments were tedious. I am really tired of hearing that name. The rest of your video was great!
