Shanmei Waqas Thank you for watching and I am so glad you enjoy the videos and in time you yourself will be making beautiful works of art for the world to see. Happy Tatting
Very detail again ! 1 what is the difference between what you can do with these as to the cheaper ones ?? Also can you be new starting out tatting is it possible to be as easy as working with anouther !? I clearly am going to learn how to do this and I can see that I wanna buy the big one you guys carry but however I’d like to buy this Russian one as well ! But could you use beads on these later down the road ? Also is it worth using a plain needle tatting ? I hear it can be easier for you newbies ? But the gr8s how are these different when it comes to tatting
Also hon the one your aunt gave you what name is it ? And how can you tell if your buying vintage ones besides making sure it’s not rusted can you tell around how old they are ? And is there any real difference in the 60s and or can you tell the difference in the age of the boye ? Lol one last please I seen some of the tiny ones you shown the Celtic ones ? I would love to get into that type but idk if it’s too hard ! Idk and how knows if it’s worth what they are asking either !
Brenna Rush Hi Brenda and thanks for watching. I am learning how to use a double decker shuttle myself currently. I got myself one as I found it to be useful when using the smaller threads for tatting. I know Karen Cabrera has a fantastic video for using a double shuttle and the technique is the same as a double bobbin or double decker shuttle. You just have to look past her lovely nails. Once I master the technique I will be coming out with a video on how to use the double bobbin shuttles. Hopefully soon with that plan as I am finding with what time I have been playing with it is fairly simple to do and use. Here is the link to Karen's video. I advise watching at least twice. Once to admire the nails then the second time to see how the double shuttles are used. LOL. Hope this will help you understand the double bobbin a bit better. th-cam.com/video/dkYFUuaqFCM/w-d-xo.html Happy Tatting
I do not know how to make the shuttles. There are alot of shuttle makers out there that can help you if this is what you are interested in. If you look on Etsy and search for tatting shuttles many of the people who create them may be willing to help you with learning to do this. I admire those that do such intricate work with the hands as the shuttles themselves if not made right won't work. Shuttles come in a variety of sizes and also they have post shuttles, bobbin shuttles, flat shuttles, netting shuttles, celtic shuttles and the list goes on. some shuttles are made for a specific use and others are made for general use. You can also look on Facebook and join some of the groups on there as well to get more information. I wished I could help you more in this as there aren't as many shuttle makers here in the states as there are over seas. We really need more here so tatters have an easier access to getting supplies. I hope I could help you some. Happy Tatting.
where can I find one of those extra large shuttles? I'm a 6ft3 lady so inevitably I have bigger hands with long fingers so I would be able to hold a larger one more comfortably! I live in the UK.
+Cristina Capella Hi Christina and thank you for watching. The only place I know of to get the shuttles you are asking about is Handy Hands. I understand your in the UK and there is a possibility you may find them there as well. They are called Tatsy Shuttles. Lacis online may have them also but not sure about that. Let me get you the links to the suppliers I use and hopefully that will help you. www.hhtatting.com/ lacis.com/ If you can't find them or get them to you let me know and I will ask some folks over in the uk and see if they know of a place to find them. Happy Tatting
I have the "Prym" and they are great, but their logo is on the side and it sticks out - it catches the thread and it is annoying! I am so jealous of your collection, I must go shopping for shuttles : D
Extraiokken I started with one shuttle and I am still building my collection. Do we ever not need one.. LOL. I tell my husband I need new shuttles mine are all full. He just laughs while I shop for more. LOL. I have gotten a prym and I see what you mean about the name sticking out. I just wanted one for my collection mainly. I am now on the hunt for a Milward shuttle. Another one of those just to have it shuttles. Have fun collecting them and Happy Tatting.
Are you able to give the name of the shop that Veronica has, (the lady from Russia) who custom made the beautiful shuttles you show in this video? If not, will you give the sizes of the shuttles? I've watched quite a few of your video's and have enjoyed each one. You are an excellent at teaching! Thanks, Tam
+Tamera Godshall Thank you for watching. Sorry I wasn't able to get back to you as soon as I normally do. I was at the Palmetto's Tat Days event as well as vacation with the family. Here is the link you requested. Just remember when getting shuttle's from Veronika it may take some time to receive them from her. I will say they are well worth the wait though. www.etsy.com/shop/TattingShuttles?ref=l2-shopheader-name Happy Tatting
Hi Sujatha. Thank you for watching. There are several places to buy supplies from online but these are the top 2 suppliers for tatting supplies. www.tattingcorner.com/ www.hhtatting.com/ Happy Tatting
Madeline Williams Hi Madeline and thank you for watching. The big blue shuttle is called a Tatsy Shuttle. Handy Hands has them. Here is the link to the site. www.hhtatting.com/ Amazon has them also but they still are sent by way of Handy Hands. I usually get my orders from Handy Hands within 2-3 days of ordering. Other tatters I know of no matter where they live within the USA say the same thing. Happy Tatting
Could you please tell me where you got the far right bottom row shuttle . I really love the very far right bottom one . Handy Hands does not carry that one .
Hi Leona. If your talking about the silver heart one i got that one at Lacis.com. They have some really beautiful shuttles. It is silver and it will tarnish. The blades can bend out some while tatting with larger threads but can easily be put back into shape. I got it just to have one. I thought the filigree was too beautiful not to own. LOL. Happy tatting.
I will say they are a nice shuttle to tat with if you understand how to use them. You do have to adjust the tension frequently when you use them. I don't use a bobbin shuttle myself as much as a post shuttle. Those that do use the gr-8 shuttles loves them . Hope that helps
Hi Tonya, Here is the link to her shop on Etsy. www.etsy.com/shop/TattingShuttles?ref=l2-shopheader-name She is listed under TattingShuttles and when you see the wooden engraved ones with the name Veronika under the name of the shop that is her. Her name is spelled the way I spelled it. I hope the link works for you so you don't have any issues finding her. I love her shuttles and they just glide through the tatting. Let me know if you need anymore help.
That is so sweet of you to say. I just wanted to help others learn that had difficulties with the process. Sometimes seeing a written instruction actually being done helps with the Ah Ha moments. LOL. Happy Tatting
Very informative. I'm new to tatting and this was really helpful. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the great information. I’m new to tatting and wondered what the differences are.
Boye metal bobbin shuttles will take any sewing machine bobbin. The metal can be expanded or tightened without damaging the shuttle.
When she stuck that Emory board in her shuttle and made it go zzzzzzzikkk I almost died. 😬🔥🤯

Are the shuttles collectable?
Some of them are but not all of them. They are my personal collection and it has grown immensely over the years.
