    10 years a professional brewer here, getting my chops in on the social media side. I've found this video to be by far the single most helpful for shooting beer release posts. As someone who has specialized in wood-ageing beers for the entireity of my career, I just want to say it's not an enzyme in wood that causes the beer bubbles! It's the pores in the chopsticks causing "nucleation" sites that allow the CO2 to break out of solution. That's why salt works, too! The jagged little crystals of salt give the CO2 surfaces on which to form bubbles. For that reason, the efficacy of a chopstick will be reduced as the chopstick becomes saturated. For both salt and chopsticks the efficacy will be reduced as the amount of dissolved CO2 remaining in the beer decreases. Some glasses actually have etchings to create nucleation sites on the inside of the bottom of the glass to produce a steady stream of bubbles that replenish the head.
    Nucleation is also to blame for the bubbles on the side of the glass; if a glass is "beer clean" alllll of the bubbles will rise to the top.
    Anyone who has ever microwaved a glass of water to the point that it's superheated and then stuck a spoon in it has seen this phenomenon play out, too.
    Anyway, just wanted to share and say thanks!

    Does that special background paper really make more of a difference than just using a big white sheet of paper for $8 from the art store?

    • @workphlo
      @workphlo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fair question and the answer is, yes - sometimes. Paper has a slight texture to it and is usually thinner than this material which comes in Light, Medium and Heavy. I typically use heavy which is the furthest from a thin paper-like diffusion and really 'averages out' the brightness.
      However, I often use the nylon diffuser (linked in our description) but double them up for a more diffused result. At the end of the day though, you can get away with anything including a white wall behind you - though always the smooth the texture the smoother it may appear at deeper DOF.
