Ripping a New Backroad in my BMW 128i Track Car

- Just a chill drive on a new backroad I found. Still on a shitty alignment from the last track day. Also keep in eye on the rear view mirror; the brake light isn’t the only light you’ll see in it.

You have me considering an N52 e82. I’ve have an N54 for less than a month and I’m already going to sell it because I’ve spent so much on maintenance. I have a track membership but getting this 135i to the track is going to cost an arm and leg to get it setup on top of the bullshit I’ve spent money on. Considering an e30 or another Miata but this looks like a viable option for lightweight and reliable!
that's the exact reason I went with a 128i over a 135i even though it would only cost marginally more for 135i for the initial purchase price. It has enough power to make it interesting and to be able to hotlap the car for full 30 min sessions you need to do minimal modifications (oil cooler, and addressing the brakes). Everything else is optional to make the car faster and more fun to drive. Only thing that sucks is buying any parts do tend to be pricey since it's not a very common track option so you either pay the m tax for m parts or pay a high price on low volume aftermarket parts. I still think it's worth it and the more people that track them the cheaper it will be.
You should have got the n55 then. N55 are very reliable.

@@aurah8245 They're a lot more reliable than the n54's lol. Don't know where you're getting your information lol. Probably n54 owners coping with their engine throwing an engine light every second. I've had both and literally sold my n54 because of how unreliable it was. Has 0 issues with the n55.
@@Hesus_they might be a decently reliable engine - but you can’t beat the simplicity of an NA engine. Less parts to even think about to begin with. Less ECU magic to think about. More room in the engine bay, with everything packaged more neatly. Less extreme heat.
Sounds obvious and stupid, but it’s impossible to have turbo issues if you simply don’t have a turbo😅 and that’s the same for the intercooler, additional coolant plumbing, boost pipes etc. It’s a whole complex system that you don’t ever have to think about anymore!

Wicked driving man, love the build. Have another question. When your ripping backroads like this. Do you have all safety functions off? In dtc mode? Or in full safety base mode? Also what mode you use when ripping in the open diff? Thanks
I always drive in full off. Even with full off it still uses brakes to act like a diff and it does help because I tried coding it off to see how it feels and it felt a lot worse with it coded off. Once so installed the lsd I coded out the e-diff.

Lol yeah definitely not a stock tune. I just copy paste the mods and forgot to add the n54 intake manifold and stagefp tune to the list. Also when I did run on stock tune I didn’t get a cel immediately but after driving for a bit I got one. Car still ran fine though
@@slow.e82 Word lmfao, I'll try lookin for a set of longtubes on ebay and get the tune right away from stagefp. Looks like stagefp is the way to go, everyone has it and I havent seen any complaints. What do you think of it?
