Boy, great review. Looks so good. I'm a mostly out of box collector. Bit with 3 other Vader's on the shelf. With the complications of Helmet. But he looks sharp I may unbox and display maskless. As I would worry about him in a shelf dive a locating mask pieces. I always appreciate your hard work on reviews great job yet again.

From what I know, the helmet comes off when you move your head because Anakin's head being separated from the respirator (the part that holds the helmet) means that when he wants to move his head, only the helmet moves but the head inside does not move with the helmet as it is separated from the respirator. This happens because the helmet mask is attached to the respirator and the face.
Great review! Thanks for confirming the mask issue isn’t just a problem with my copy. I’m tempted to either replicate the mask parts or buy another copy so I can embed some magnets to hold it together.

The original blue line RotJ figure was my first BS figure back in 2015! This new one is better in every way, but it is a shame that the helmet is a bit finicky. I haven’t had too much of an issue tho, and I’ve been displaying him with the helmet off anyway, with Luke taking it off just like you showed. Also love seeing Mara Jade and Kir Kanos in the back of your RotJ shelf too, don’t think I ever noticed them before!
That's cool that the blue line release was your first one. This one is very nice as a whole. The helmet is kinda screwy... Once you get it to stay put, it looks good. I still haven't decided how I'm going to display him. That Luke looks so good wiith his saber, so I kinda want Vader with the saber as well. The issue with the face mask is probably why the Figuart verson doesn't remove the face mask but just the helmet. The helmet on the Figuart version had a peg that keeps the helmet in place. I feel they could have done that with this figure or used a magnetic contraption to keep the helmet on securely.
Ah, that's interesting. Hasbro could have certainly done better here. Magnets would be awesome, but even more substantial pegs would help. This is one figure I don't mess with too much. I got the helmet just right, stuck him on the shelf, and I leave him be. Thanks for checking out the video!
Nice review. I watched other reviews of this figure as well, and your facemask fits best! All the others had a very visible gap at the mouth part. I would have prefered two different heads, even as a deluxe. This is IMO the best wave of all Black Series Anniversary waves, including the TESB and ANH waves. Great new versions of popular characters, except maybe the Emperors Guard, but there was nothing to complain about anyway.

Yeah, the helmet can be a bit of a pain sometimes. As far as the best "fully masked" Vader - The Empire Strikes Back (either in the ESB galaxy line or on the 40th of ESB cardback) version is still hard to beat. I appreciate you checking out the review!

Should I buy this now at 45 bucks? Is the demand high and are they getting increasingly scarce? Is it limited edition? Do you guys think the price will go up or down? Help please 😅
It's about 45 on Amazon and I'm sure it's even higher on eBay. The price did shoot up pretty quick on this one. As far as "limited edition" - it's of course part of the 40th anniversary of ROTJ carded line - so they won't release it on card again. I'm not sure if they'll re-release this one in the galaxy mural packaging in the future. As far as price, it's totally up to you. I don't like spending almost double retail for a figure, but this one may be hard to find and pretty expensive for a while. But, if have the money, it may be worth considering if you want the figure bad enough. I appreciate you watching!
Honestly, I just glued the mask to the neck piece. I almost passed on this figure because of the finicky helmet. So I just glued the mask on since I’m never taking it off anyway. Really cool figure nonetheless.

I just picked up this one on the mail today (arrived from Pulse, since apparently Amazon got a delay, and in the end, it was just a $5 difference on shipping, so why the hell not) and it looks incredible. The vertical hinges on the hands are the difference for making great duel poses, however,it is a shame that Hasbro didn't redo the legs and hips, since they always come loose after a time (my ESB Vader has that issue, my Kenobi Vader still doesn't have it). Consider myself lucky that my mask and helmet doesn't have that big of an issue with getting in place, but I do feel that a bit of heat is necessary for everything to fit correctly.
Sweet, glad you were able to get one. It's a great figure overall. The hips are weird... It's nice that your helmet works well. Mine is okay once you get it - you just can't move it too much afterwards. I agree with you, heat would help those tabs to sit down where they need to be. Thanks so much for checking out the review!

Another excellent Vader. I am hoping it will be released in the window packaging as the 40th is too big. I am still a keep in box collector. I do not have the A New Hope so have ordered the upcoming Archive Vader. I would display it without the mask and the lower arm otherwise it will look like the ESB one. The accessories could be put back in the packaging??

I cut a "door" in the bottom of the bubble leaving the front of the bubble attached - lift the door and slide the tray out. Then I can close the door back and secure it with clear tape and hang the card on the wall. I show how I do it in this video th-cam.com/video/7ndHaODvufE/w-d-xo.html
Both Duel’s End and RotJ40 Vader look absolutely fine. What I would hope in the future is that the tunics shouldn’t affect the shoulder articulations. Because of how they’re tucked in, it’s not ideal. New legs would be most welcome to that the whole weight can be supported. I have two of RotJ40 Vader since I keep at least one carded, but I honestly believe the TVC version takes it. I’m happy to have both versions, loose and carded.
The tunic is a little funky - and it definitely affects movement. I totally agree with you on the legs - they could certainly be better. I've seen pictures of the TVC version. It does look very good. The helmet sculpt itself is really good compared to the others. The should releases another vader using that helmet sculpt but one that doesnt seperate

The helmet was a great idea from Hasbro, but poor execution. They should’ve just added small pegs to the mask to connect to the mouth respirator or better yet a completely swap-able helmet/head.

Black Series are killing it with the head sculpts. Just a slight criticism is his flesh looks a bit too tanned and healthy. In Jedi he was as pasty as Hell after being locked in his armour away from the sun. British TH-camr Centurions Corner heated his mask up to get it to fit better. I'd most likely display him holding the mask and helm. That was the marvellous face sculpt isn't hidden away. Plenty of other Vaders with no face showing.

If u want to move the Darth Vader you have to pinch 2 fingers on the helmet, Also is it just me or does the helmet look like a miniature size of the Obi wan kenobi black series Darth Vader helmet, the one that you have in the Background.
Yeah, I mentioned at least putting a finger or thumb on the neck as well as the helmet if you want to turn the head. Otherwise, it just comes apart. And yes, the full size helmet is like a big version of this one. 👍🏻👍🏻 I appreciate you checking out the review! 👊

I collect gi joe classified and Hasbro is using this gummy,rubbery plastic on there accessories looks like there starting to use it on black series…..they said they were going to stop using it because of all the complaints but that has yet to happen
I don't have any experience with GI Joe - but that sucks. I've seen quite a few blasters and saber hilts in TBS that are just way too soft. I'm hoping one day they'll stop using that type of plastic. We'll see...
You actually seemed to have less trouble with the helmet than a lot of other people have lol I am •so damned conflicted• here, folks… I want this fig' so bad, but you've gotta' admit… It kinda' represents Hasbro at its very best •and• its very worst ×D I'm pretty picky about my Hasbro Star Wars figs, too. . .
Haha thanks. It is a frustrating figure for sure. It's a great looking Vader as long as you don't fiddle with it too much. You pretty much nailed it in saying, "best and worst." I think if you have any sort of ROTJ display, you kinda need this one. I just fixed it how I wanted it, stuck it on the shelf, and just left it be. It does look nice on display with ROTJ Luke. I am so glad the one i got from Entertainment Earth (in a seriously unnecessarily huge box) was not a defective product in regards to the mask. I was getting so frustrated when trying to get a photo of him. When posing him, he always ended up with a gap between the face mask and the respirator it annoyed me so much. That and trying to bend the elbow on the right arm was a pain at first to where his hand popped off when trying to bend it amd i had to reattach it. Other than those two gripes, its a well done figure imo.
Glad yours arrived safe and sound. Yeah, this figure can be very frustrating - especially the mask. But apart from a few gripes (just like you), I love the figure. You can't go wrong with Vader. Thanks for checking out the video!

I collect gi joe classified and Hasbro is using this gummy,rubbery plastic on there accessories looks like there starting to use it on black series…..they said they were going to stop using it because of all the complaints but that has yet to happen
I don't have any experience with GI Joe - but that sucks. I've seen quite a few blasters and saber hilts in TBS that are just way too soft. I'm hoping one day they'll stop using that type of plastic. We'll see...
You actually seemed to have less trouble with the helmet than a lot of other people have lol I am •so damned conflicted• here, folks… I want this fig' so bad, but you've gotta' admit… It kinda' represents Hasbro at its very best •and• its very worst ×D I'm pretty picky about my Hasbro Star Wars figs, too. . .
Haha thanks. It is a frustrating figure for sure. It's a great looking Vader as long as you don't fiddle with it too much. You pretty much nailed it in saying, "best and worst." I think if you have any sort of ROTJ display, you kinda need this one. I just fixed it how I wanted it, stuck it on the shelf, and just left it be. It does look nice on display with ROTJ Luke. I appreciate you checking out the video!
Lenses should be black
Yeah, they were black for the most part in ROTJ. However, there are some scenes where they do have a redish brown tint. I personally prefer the black.
I am so glad the one i got from Entertainment Earth (in a seriously unnecessarily huge box) was not a defective product in regards to the mask. I was getting so frustrated when trying to get a photo of him. When posing him, he always ended up with a gap between the face mask and the respirator it annoyed me so much. That and trying to bend the elbow on the right arm was a pain at first to where his hand popped off when trying to bend it amd i had to reattach it. Other than those two gripes, its a well done figure imo.
Glad yours arrived safe and sound. Yeah, this figure can be very frustrating - especially the mask. But apart from a few gripes (just like you), I love the figure. You can't go wrong with Vader. Thanks for checking out the video!
