Hi Rob. Paul Weller (the Modfather) as you said is a legend in the UK. The Jam, Style Council and then his solo career. One of the few artists (3 I think) with #1 albums in five different decades. He keeps on experimenting, never settling. Amazing composer, singer and guitarist.
Here are some suggestions for you to react (or enjoy): - Wild wood - Broken stones - Hung up - Peacock suit - Friday street - Changing man - You do something to me - Sunflower - From the foor board up - All in a misty morning - Science - Gravity - Bullrush .... and I can go on!!
It IS the same guy you're thinking of. As in former frontman of The Jam, Paul Weller. His solo stuff has evolved a fair bit over the years. I reckon you'd like his 90s stuff in particular. Albums like Stanley Road and Heavy Soul. The latter, I saw him on the tour for that. 1998, I was only 15 and it was only the second gig I ever saw. What made me go was a last-minute announcement of the support. Noel Gallagher was opening with a solo set of Oasis tunes. A real treat as the venue wasn't massive either. Definitely smaller than the arenas and stadiums Oasis were playing to by then.
Great tune by weller , his catalogue is awesome .over ere in uk he his in McCartney/ lennon bowie league.lps i recommend you listen to on his solo career are wild wood ,stanley road , as is now , true meanings , on sunset .the rest are mint to.this guy goes down different avenues all the time ,never stays still. Lives and breathes music .✌
