Handling various PCM chips in real-time on the MSX is impossible, so I was brainstorming ways to manage all this. That's when I decided to pre-render the PCM parts separately. As you know, unlike FM chips, I believe the identity and quality of PCM lie not in the chip itself but in the sampling itself. So, I thought it made sense to leave the SFG (FM) as it is and focus on pre-rendering the PCM only. FlashJacks has an efficient IMA-ADPCM processing feature, and I modified VGM-Play to stream the PCM parts to FlashJacks using this functionality. You might find FlashJack's FWAV feature helpful for reference. Thank you.
Say, ever though of using OPL4 PCM for playing the PCM sides of arcade and Sharp X68000 tunes and soundtracks on the MSX, especially since the OPL4 PCM side has more than enough sound channels to do so(up to 24 PCM channels)?🤨🤔🧐
Great one!
Impressive! How does emulate Namco C140 with FlashJacks?
