That spongy tofu can be eaten here in the Philippines,mixed with we called "arnibal"melted sugar or a vanilla or sweet strawberry flavor and small tapioca😋🤤🤤

Taste really good. It’s quite common in Yunnan, Guizhou and Anhui I believe. Don’t let its hairy appearance scare you.

I love watching the process of Hairy Tofu. There's a restaurant an hour or so away that serves it as a appetizer choice and ordered it a few times. It's taste reminds me of one of my favorite cheeses: Blue Cheese.

I love blue cheese so now i’m intrigued instead of grossed out. Especially since ive eaten some french and spanish blue cheese varieties that definitely had visible fuzzy mold on them.

the hairy fungus (i don't know what it called) is similar to the one on tempe, it's okay to eat it raw, because i've tried it before.
At some point in history, someone was so hungry that they ate tofu covered in hairy mold. I suppose it's not too surprising. After all, people from about every region of the world looked at cheese curds in old milk and thought "I'm going to eat that."

That probably is mold. However, not all mold is bad; there are mold-cured meats and cheeses. It's just another form of fermentation, but it is off-putting if that kind of fermentation is not familiar. I don't think I would be comfortable eating this. However, this also proves that if you deep fry just about anything, you can make it palatable.

They have little money but it doesn’t mean they can’t live on their own because of that. My grandparents used to live like this. They’re very knowledgeable about different remedies and farming. Jobs and employment isn’t everything, that’s modern society. Usually the resources are already prepped a few days before so it doesn’t take so long.
