Thank you for bringing this up. The CM and babus absence, animated video, pannu's video message, synchronized negative responses, and so many pieces are falling into place. This was clearly a botched up attempt to assassinate the PM. Babus answer to their political masters, we've seen this in Maharashtra too. But we have a bigger problem on hands in Punjab with radicalization of a new generation.

I agree that P M 'S security was under mined. But one question is unanswered -- S P G OR Security travels say 5 to 10 min ahead of a V V I P say that is about 10 K M ahead. In P M ' S case also the same protocol would be adopted. Why then the Pilot ahead did not inform the P M cavalcade about the road block? This info would have saved the P M from being stranded on the fly over. Does it mean the Pilot team ahead was silent or they were also mislead? Even if they were mislead the communication should have been sent to the cavalcade coming behind. Sree Sir your view.
Right. As per protocol the Pilot car should be from the state police. Either there was no Pilot (it disappeared from the carcade?!) or it was redirected by higher authority. Eitherway the state police is clearly compromised. Don't forget there are video clips of cops on the route standing aside and enjoying chai in total mockery of the occasion!!
It is normal practice that whenever PM goes on tour to different country or within nation SPG/NIA is involved in its planning with state/international counter part. In this case I feel caution was thrown out of window by even SPG/NIA. There is a serious breach on security and I feel SPG's actions, too, need to be checked.

I can't understand how the SPG did not verify and double check the road route. I feel it is as much if not more of the SPG lapse. They should know only too very well that a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. Not that it absolves the Punjab Police, the Congress dispensation of Punjab and the babudom.

Though I agree with most of the points Mr. Mani has raised, there is a serious concern in SPG's planning and execution. It was very serious threat to life of mr. Modi when his motorcade was blocked. In my humble opinion- 1. There should have been pilot car atleast 5 kms ahead to check whether there are any blockades or bottlenecks. 2. SPG is trained in identifying bottlenecks and probabilities of attacks/ ambushes in their ways. 3. There should have been drones surveillance. These all normal precautions taken by security agencies of Biden, Putin and Israel PM.. Indian security agency has miserably failed. Thanx.

The PM chair and the entire entourage has to depend upon the host on a few things irrespective of political difference. Could be a flaw, but that's how Democracy is. 2) may be true. But the threat has to happen. For example if a protestors action was remotely causing threat to protectee SPG would act. Else they wont. SPG will use force only if the protectee is having a threat. In this case the situation was a POTENTIAL threat and not an actual one. Had SPG asked the state forces to use lathi charge then the situation might have worsen. This must lead to a public debate and open societal exchanges across the board. The entire issue of Security to VIPs , the legal and administrative features that govern this framework , the accountabilities thereunder are all matters that concern every Indian. We are all stakeholders in the matter and even a duty to acquaint ourselves with. Each region , geography in the country has unique problems, local issues and each needs a separate approach to security and public administration. I don't know why All India Services officers are considered "scape-goats" - These actually form executive branch of our Republic. If politicians pressure, civil services officers should have been trained to resist and do their duty.

I can't understand how the SPG did not verify and double check the road route. I feel it is as much if not more of the SPG lapse. They should know only too very well that a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. Not that it absolves the Punjab Police, the Congress dispensation of Punjab and the babudom.

Though I agree with most of the points Mr. Mani has raised, there is a serious concern in SPG's planning and execution. It was very serious threat to life of mr. Modi when his motorcade was blocked. In my humble opinion-
1. There should have been pilot car atleast 5 kms ahead to check whether there are any blockades or bottlenecks.
2. SPG is trained in identifying bottlenecks and probabilities of attacks/ ambushes in their ways.
3. There should have been drones surveillance.
These all normal precautions taken by security agencies of Biden, Putin and Israel PM.. Indian security agency has miserably failed. Thanx.

1) There is no hostile or friendly states for a constitutional post. The PM chair and the entire entourage has to depend upon the host on a few things irrespective of political difference. Could be a flaw, but that's how Democracy is.
2) may be true. But the threat has to happen. For example if a protestors action was remotely causing threat to protectee SPG would act. Else they wont. SPG will use force only if the protectee is having a threat. In this case the situation was a POTENTIAL threat and not an actual one. Had SPG asked the state forces to use lathi charge then the situation might have worsen. Their attempt to connect to both DGP and CM wasnt successful.

Such kind of scenarios are created, enacted and rehearsed hundreds of time. Any such happenings anywhere in world, is discussed and its countermeasures prepared. I am sure security breach of our PM would be matter of concern among all democratic nations. This is more of concern to us when we lost our CDS in a freak accident just few weeks ago. I don't intend to criticize any security agency but want to point out flaws which could be avoided. This must lead to a public debate and open societal exchanges across the board. The entire issue of Security to VIPs , the legal and administrative features that govern this framework , the accountabilities thereunder are all matters that concern every Indian. We are all stakeholders in the matter and even a duty to acquaint ourselves with. Each region , geography in the country has unique problems, local issues and each needs a separate approach to security and public administration. It is pathetic that we are having a conversation stating that he "deserves" to protected since he is a "hard working" man. This is ridiculous. He is India's PM for God's sake and if we are ambivalent and defensive about defending his life , then it will simply embolden a whole lot of people whose vested interests the PM has attacked and destroyed. The investigation into this deadly epolisode should an immediate national priority.

It seems that Indian judiciary system is favouring only the culprits but not the victims.. Indian judiciary system has to be revamped altogether since the public lost the confidence with the court vague judgements in many cases. The security matters have to be dealt by Military Courts instead of civil.courts then only we get remedy rapidly. .I have a doubt whether India is fit for democracy since the most of the politicians are anarchists.

I don't know why All India Services officers are considered "scape-goats" - These actually form executive branch of our Republic. If politicians pressure, civil services officers should have been trained to resist and do their duty.
We have a basic intelligence and aptitude test for every Govt job in India.But,there is no test for entrant to Politics which forms major law making body in India.Politicians neither have to have any educational qualification,no testing agency for getting a ticket in any political party or Independent candidate,no obligations to people etc...Unfortunately,our bureaucracy is made scapegoat every time.This must change and Politician must be held accountable in such cases.
