I super love this. The way you talk through the boss is oddly relaxing given it is a fire-werewolf monster haha. One boss I struggle with is the Abhorrent Beast in the Lorran chalices. If you can make a guide for that one, that would be neat especially since a lot of chalice bosses are kind of looked over when it comes to Bloodborne content and guides.
Honestly, all of the DLC bosses would be good for a guide, other than the useless mushrooms. But one that I struggle a lot with is Ludwig, The Holy Blade. Thanks for the guide!
Honestly a series of "Lobos' Guide to Bosses" done in this sort of fashion would be very helpful. Arranged in a playlist so everything is neatly there. You explain and show things in a very coherent and memorable way.
for real! especially the way that he explains it *every* single time it goes off so you're not expected to just memorize it from watching. he goes over it, demonstrates, reinforces, repeat. it's so good
Seconded. It would give you a new type of content to make (a breath of fresh air? and easy to make), extra youtube revenue, and PERFECT guides for newbies because of how slow and methodical you were about this (you let full patterns show themselves, as opposed to just explaining individual attacks)
I always appreciate the time when lobos lets the music play out a bit. When I play I'm too frenzied to notice how great the music is. I do own the OST on CD though, so can listen to the tracks I like the most at will. The First Hunter is probably my favorite; so good.
"Hello, welcome to my guide to Pinwheel" **Does 3 R1's** "And that's my guide to Pinwheel. If you can master that then you'll beat him in no time. Thanks for watching!"
This is literally the best boss guide I’ve ever seen. I had no idea you could trivialize his first half like that. I always got comboed so hard in that phase
I've tried this strat and it simply doesn't work because whenever i stand to the back left of him he hops away and i end up in front of him again, which in turn makes him do a totally different moveset.
Your an absolute legend. I was being really stupid and his attacks felt completely random and annoying. This really helped me and I got the inner peace you need to beat these bosses again.
I've had Ludwig's and Laurence's themes on rotation for about 4 days now. I literally cant get enough of these amazing pieces of music. Glad to see you are still enjoying them too Lobos.
Gascoigne's theme is overlooked a lot because of how early you hear it but i think it's one of my favorite themes in the series. It's got such a horror movie vibe to it lol
This was incredibly helpful and fun to watch! Felt like I was attending some sort of class. I love how straight-forward you were with this guide - you didn't bloat the video with extra information about ALL of the possible attacks and the entire moveset of the boss, just the ones that the player needs to know. Would love to see more of these, thank you!
This is super cool, I love this free-flow style of video you've opted for. Guides from the master himself are always appreciated. Keep it up, Lobos :-)
As someone who isn't really great at these kind of games, watching an interactive guide like this is really helpful! I think others will also appreciate it as well! Great work my dude, you should totally keep them coming.
This also works as a fantastic thing to look out for other games. Enemys left handed or has a huge flaming long left hand? Stick to its right side etc. Always look out for weaknesses and abuse them
This was probably one of the best guides I've seen for any game's boss fight. Informative in explaining the reasonings and went the extra mile to purposely draw it out to show all the boss attacks and even the music.
I know I am super late to the ‘party’, but Man, your video is probably the most thorough Laurence guide I have ever seen. By watching your video and practicing this fight, Laurence went from being one of the most difficult boss fights for me, to one of the easiest ones now! Thank you, thank you very much for sharing your strategies with us 🤘🏼
As a big dumb baby who brute forces his way through all these games out of sheer instinct and moment to moment reaction... I could really use more of these xD This was legitimately awesome, thanks Lobos!
This video helped me a ton, before I was really struggling to dodge any of his attacks, but this guide helped me figure that out, and also the second phase. I think now that I understand his attacks I like this boss more than I did before too, thank you for this amazing guide!
Really comfy guide. Since you've clubbed the hardest version of basically any souls boss to death with your fists, you can really give a relaxed and methodical guide that helps to show how important being calm and careful can be when it comes to beating a boss, while also letting the viewer see spots (either directly told or by watching the game) where you could be risky and get extra damage in
More of this please! Thanks Lobos! BTW doing this on the fly while streaming shows how much experience, knowledge and dedication you have with these types of games
I've beaten him BL4 once before but it was a struggle. Watching this has given me some insight (pun intended) on his attack patterns and how his AI works a little bit more. If I ever do a BL4 run again, I now feel fully confident with fighting him because of your tips. Thanks Lobos.
I just wanted to tell you how grateful I am for this particular guide of yours. This video was the one that made me beat Laurence on my own BL4 run. Someone mentioned you in my chat and I looked you up, and thank God I did! Without you it would've taken much longer I'm sure. Also this strat makes the fight sooo fun and sooo easy, it's amazing. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I always wondered if you’d make videos like these. I remember using the pillars in the O&S fight because I saw you block with them, there’s tons of tiny things like that throughout the series you taught me and tons of other people.
I love you teaching mechanics, Lobos....I've always struggled with ummm 'seeing' the mechanics, & walkthroughs like this help a lot. It's like learning a dance - waltz to Ludwig, & this dance to Laurence. Even though I recently beat Laurence, it's still really interesting to see the breakdown, because I admit, I did not enjoy this fight (the Orphan, however, I absolutely LOVED!) I've only played BB several times (& recently achieved my solo platinum, of which I'm super proud XD), but I can't imagine doing SL4 eeeeekkkk lol! That's amazing, Lobos :-)
Honestly, at this point you may as well do a run in each of the games dedicated to making guides. Your guide was really good, so it's very useful to have everything in one place, instead of having to look through a bunch of random channels hoping for the same level of clarity. Hoping to see more guides in the future!
3 years later and you’re a legend man, i have been stuck on Lawerence for months. and he made me quit the game lol, and following your guide i just beat him second try ! Thank you so fucking much
Just wanted to say that I didn't even watch half of your video and I was able to beat Laurence in less than ⅕ of the tries it took for Ludwig or the Orphan. Everyone else's strategies are difficult and yours is just to barely move so that helped me in a huge way. Thank you!!
Man, I never managed to finish BB, you are making me want to start it anew. Fantastic guide. I'd watch this sort of thing for sure (Lady Maria, for example)
I've probably died like 15 times and noticed Vicar does A LOT more moves, like the random jump attacks, more punching and sweeping moves, etc, than what this guy had to go through. I'm so frustrated by this boss. Is there a way i can call on a hunter to help me out with this fight? *Update* Guys, i did it! After like 16 deaths, no summons for online or cpu help, all solo lol, I FINALLY beat Laurence the first Vicar!!!!!!! Holy smokes this guy was tough for me. Thanks for your strategy video bro!!! Now, i have to prepare myself for the hardest boss in all of Bloodborne, Orphan of Kos. BRING IT!!! 💪😎 Another Update: Finally killed the Orphan of Kos and got the platinum trophy 🏆!!! I don't usually get emotional when i beat video games, but Bloodborne, was one of the few where i cheered, and scream for joy that i won!! Best PS4 game of all time. Can't wait for Elder Ring.
This just shows me how much more difficult it is to react to animations instead of to movement rules. I'm always way too panicked to realise patterns in movement so I only react to animations directly. This looks so much more easy and enjoyable to do, especially for Laurence. Awesome guide, Lobos!
Thank you! The second phase strat helped a million. I couldn't get the first phase to run as smooth as you. I ended up going more midrange and dodging back, baiting his grab and slams to get damage in. the 1, 2, 3 was key though!
Hey, just wanted to say thank you for helping me learn Laurence's moveset. I would've struggled on him for a week without you! Now I just need to find every weapon and I would've 100% complete the DLC
I remember being lost and not understanding the parry mechanics in DS1 at all. That's how I found your Parry The World videos 5 or 6 years ago and they've been really helpful in figuring it out. Condensing that into short guide videos, explaining mechanics or bosses? I'm all into that! This way of fighting Laurence has now been burnt into my brain. 😊
Easily the hardest boss in the game, but also my favorite OST in all of Bloodborne. I actually appreciated the run up to the boss room, too, because it was easy to farm 10 blood vials or so on the way. Great guide; took me 12 tries and I adapted my own strategy that was a variation on this, but you clearly know your stuff!
Love this! Please do more guides like this. I stopped playing because I dislike bosses in games and especially in Bloodborne but I love the Bloodborne game in between. So if I know how to deal with the bosses easily, I could actually enjoy the rest of the game.
This is really helpful, and especially the phase 2 part. For a lot of bloodborne bosses I find myself being really bad at the second phases if they have them, probably cause I have much fewer opportunities to fight them. So ye, would love to see more videos like this, and for me personally, ones for bosses with multiple phases would be especially helpful.
It's amazing really. More than six years on people are still making Bloodborne content, and dying to this jerk of a boss. I think this video helped me more than any other, if I didn't get flustered, greedy and divide my attention between the game and watching, I could have gotten my first ever Laurence on the first try. Oh well, I still beat him much quicker than usual. Thanks, mate, sub earned :D.
I’m on NG+2 and almost gave up on him after like 40 attempts. But after watching ur vid i beat him right after! ur calm and patience to learn the combos and dodge slowly then approach him with one hit at a time have inspired me and it was not that hard to beat him after all 🎉 tysm super helpful and fun vid to watch
I think it's a great idea to start doing guides like this Lobos. Not just with BB but with the Souls series and even Sekiro as well. I may not play any of them anymore but when I did I learned alot from watching your vids so I can imagine how much people would appreciate full on guides
Thank you! Because of this video I was able to beat this boss!! Your 'counting' of the boss's moves really really helped. It's same way I learned to defeat the Nameless King in Dark Souls 3. Thank you thank you thank you. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Watched this video and beat him on my 8th try. Seriously amazing video, seen so much stuff about how hard Laurence is but this video breaks down all his weaknesses and makes him an easy fight. Great video.
I’ve been playing this game for years and I always just brute force Laurence. This video made the most frustrating part of my annual playthrough a breeze. Thanks Lobos!
Dude Holy crap this video actually helped so much. At first I was getting mad cause I didn't know what to do bit once I watched this video I went in doing better and now im not getting mad at all and this helped me get to 2nd phase a lot more. Thank you so much
Thanks for a really great video! I've been stuck for a couple of days.... this is such a well done video and will definitely help, best video guide I've seen
Incredibly noob friendly guide. Super easy to understand and doing it live like that just shows how comfy the strats are! (along with your 1000s of hours of exp lol) thanks Looby.
DUDE THANK YOU. THIS HELPS A LOT. im currently stuck at him with BL185 45 Vit, 35 Skill, 45 Str, 40 Arcane at NG+. i've beaten orphan. he's the only guy left before i'll platinum the DLC. SOMEHOW HE'S ALWAYS ONE SHOT ME WITH THAT STUPID 123 COMBO. really dude, your video helps me a lot by learning his moveset.
as someone trying to complete their first bl4 all bosses run, this guide was such a massive help for me and I think it would be great if you made more like it.
Thank you so much! This was the most difficult for me for some reason… it’s my first From Software game but still others were ok for me. I didn’t want to higher lvl of my character (Hunter) like others do when they face difficulties. It took me 3 tries to learn timings and I finally beat him) the most useful guide 😊
I used your strats for my BL4 run a while back. I did the first phase a bit different and played it more aggressively, but once he starts falling over, that back leg fall over loop strat works wonders. I don't lock on during it though (or during the fight in general, which I find a bit more reliable, especially for getting in damage in the second phase).
A thing I noted with the lunge and the 123 is that with the lunge, he gives off a low screech that immediately precedes any significant movement, but with the 123, he begins to raise his arm before making a high screech and swinging. This can be used to tell which attack he's going to use. Thus, as long as you hear the low screech, you're safe to circle strafe to the right before attacking, but if the arm raises before any sound, that's when you start the 123 dodge.
I'm sad we'll never get lobosFx for Bloodborne. There's not a single other streamer that appreciates the music the same way as you do. Always fantastic to watch. I look forward to joining the stream when the hardware I require arrives!
You can keep him in a loop of doing only that first attack by running behind him, getting in a few hits, then running diagonally from him to medium distance. He won't do any other attack until his final phase
I have always wondered why the master himself never had any video for "guide to ___" and finally here it is! I have defeated all the SoulSekiroBorn bosses already but will be looking forward to a pro's take on them. Just in this video, I have already learned new things.
Thanks for the guide! I beat him in 2 tries after watching this. You want to bait out his 2 punches and 3 punches combos, those are good opportunities for dmg. And also try to do 1 hit between him walking/idling. In his 2nd phase you want to dodge his 3 sweeps combo and attack when he fall down to get in some rally and dmg. In the final phase be careful for his very delayed single slam into a sweep. Also watch out for a faster single slam into spewing magma combo. Attack when he is done sweeping or spitting out fire.
Funny enough I just played Bloodborne for the first time this month, April 2021. Just goes to show the longevity and success of this game. Managed to beat him on the first try but he certainly was kicking my ass.
You are a Legend my Friend Laurence was the only boss i ever struggled with in Bloodborne i could not beat him no matter what i tried until watching this Video. I +10 my Saw Cleaver adapted your strats ans did beat him in no Time Thank you so much
Did this teach you anything new? Would you like more guides in the future? Let me know in the comments! Who would you like a guide for next?
I super love this. The way you talk through the boss is oddly relaxing given it is a fire-werewolf monster haha. One boss I struggle with is the Abhorrent Beast in the Lorran chalices. If you can make a guide for that one, that would be neat especially since a lot of chalice bosses are kind of looked over when it comes to Bloodborne content and guides.
Honestly, all of the DLC bosses would be good for a guide, other than the useless mushrooms. But one that I struggle a lot with is Ludwig, The Holy Blade. Thanks for the guide!
Honestly the two bosses I’ve yet to ever beat in BB have been Kos and Laurence.
Yes yes yes. Please do all the bosses. Also any tips for staying calm? My heart rate always jumps the second I step into a boss fight
That was great, makes me want to play bloodborne again. That kind of guide is always interesting.

Absolutely this 100%
... And he MUST sing!
YES! I learned a lot about dark souls just watching him play. A "git gud" guide for souls games would be amazing!
This is basically a Laurence OST appreciation video, I dig it
The darkest and most depressing of Bloodbornes OST... It'd be nice if it wasn't accompanied by *WRRRYYYYYY*
His ost is so good
I always appreciate the time when lobos lets the music play out a bit. When I play I'm too frenzied to notice how great the music is. I do own the OST on CD though, so can listen to the tracks I like the most at will. The First Hunter is probably my favorite; so good.
@@jwest88 i see you re a men of culture as well
@@GodOfRestroom it's unfortunate the dlc ost wasn't released on cd as well. Did download a flac version of that too though since I can't buy it.
The spacial awareness you need for this strategy to work consistently, is nuts. He makes it look easy so don't let that fool you 😂
Ur right
"Hello, welcome to my guide to Pinwheel"
**Does 3 R1's**
"And that's my guide to Pinwheel. If you can master that then you'll beat him in no time. Thanks for watching!"
It's probably a lot, but I got most of my souls "skills" from watching you, so videos like this are honestly so helpful.
This is literally the best boss guide I’ve ever seen. I had no idea you could trivialize his first half like that. I always got comboed so hard in that phase
Perfect to use BL4 to do this. Really shows how full proof this strat is. Well done Lobos
lol "full" proof
@@Jamie-tx7pn I totally thought that’s what it was too lol dammit
Fool proof papi
Yes! This boss guide was the easiest to follow format I’ve seen. These would be a great addition to your channel. Please do Orphan next!!
I can't wait for more of these unedited guides!
I've tried this strat and it simply doesn't work because whenever i stand to the back left of him he hops away and i end up in front of him again, which in turn makes him do a totally different moveset.
I been trying this strat today and yesterday
... Feeling the same. Laurence is the only boss I haven't beaten.
I assume it's called "taco bell mode" because all that lava looks like melted cheese...
it's a post-taco bell ingestion period: firey cheese poops
I think it looks like the volcano taco. My favorite taco.
A minute into your video I gave it a shot with your tips and got to the third phase effortlessly. This is a quality video
As a big dumb baby who brute forces his way through all these games out of sheer instinct and moment to moment reaction... I could really use more of these xD This was legitimately awesome, thanks Lobos!
I see we have the same style then..
Me too my skill and strength is maxed out 99 BT and Arcane 75 and I still can’t get this SOB 😳😀
I’m not even facing Laurence right now, but this advice was so good it was worth a follow. I will use this in the future. Thank you.
I loved everything about it! Your tips, the fun , the gameplay. Actually really enjoyed that you waited for the music, gave me goosebumps. Pls more :D
I always feel so confident after watching one of your guides, then I pick up the controller, make it back to the boss room, aaaand...D'OH!!! 🤦♂️
I love that you still had to sing along with the music xD
Keep doing what you're doing Looby! ^^

Lobos, this was awesome. You need to do more of these. You have such a wealth of knowledge, I would love for you to share more.

This is the best guide I've seen to this boss, it honestly makes it look so easy! I was stuck on laurence for weeks and fluked my way through it
What a great vid. Very good explanation and drug the fight out long enough for us to really get his moveset. Well done!

This is the best format of video I have seen yet. Best of all, it comes from authority.
I’ve been having a hard time with him and I feel like I can tackle him just by watching the video. I’ll try tomorrow. Great explanations.
as someone trying to complete their first bl4 all bosses run, this guide was such a massive help for me and I think it would be great if you made more like it.
Note to self
4:22 breath attack
4:54 left slap (longest opportunity)
4:59 right slap
7:13 3 steps and sweep
5:04 endless steps
7:06 lava fart
7:26 overhead and sweep
Thank you so much! This was the most difficult for me for some reason… it’s my first From Software game but still others were ok for me. I didn’t want to higher lvl of my character (Hunter) like others do when they face difficulties. It took me 3 tries to learn timings and I finally beat him) the most useful guide 😊
I am absolutely in love with this GG format. Can't wait for more.
Love the video, been stuck on Laurence for days. If I go back and beat him after this you've earned a sub!
A thing I noted with the lunge and the 123 is that with the lunge, he gives off a low screech that immediately precedes any significant movement, but with the 123, he begins to raise his arm before making a high screech and swinging. This can be used to tell which attack he's going to use.
Thus, as long as you hear the low screech, you're safe to circle strafe to the right before attacking, but if the arm raises before any sound, that's when you start the 123 dodge.
any tutorial video from lobos is gold. best souls player hands down.
I'm sad we'll never get lobosFx for Bloodborne. There's not a single other streamer that appreciates the music the same way as you do. Always fantastic to watch. I look forward to joining the stream when the hardware I require arrives!
I wish I could send this to my younger self who got absolutely destroyed by Laurence 💀
This helped me so much. This and my accursed brew bombardment at the end. Thank you so much.
Love how easy you make souls game look. Just fun to watch.
You always amaze me how trivial you make these fights. Never would have thought Laurence can be so predictable, nice video btw ^^
Three tries after this video and I got him, after a good month and a half break from the game. Thanks man!
👍
Funny enough I just played Bloodborne for the first time this month, April 2021. Just goes to show the longevity and success of this game. Managed to beat him on the first try but he certainly was kicking my ass.
You are a Legend my Friend Laurence was the only boss i ever struggled with in Bloodborne i could not beat him no matter what i tried until watching this Video. I +10 my Saw Cleaver adapted your strats ans did beat him in no Time Thank you so much
