Commodore OS instructions recommend 40GB minimum HD size. The 20GB HD size shown in this setup guide resulted in Commodore OS installation getting stuck at 95% with GRUB Loader installation failure. Ensure you setup Virtualbox VDI minimum 40GB size and it should work ok. It did for me.
Nice, i had installed this some 10 years ago. I will give this a go on one of my old pc's, direct to disk. Looks like its based on Debian, so it should run fine.
@GeneralFailure In the video Jamie appears to be running Commodore OS in Virtual Box, and I saw he missed clicking the video acceleration option. If he had run COS on a real PC the graphics acceleration and compiz effects would have kicked in, but they clearly haven't, unless he was lacking drivers somehow which is doubtful. As I said, I think you're missing out on the best part without the effects.
It's a cash grab for those with money burning a hole in their lives :) I'm an ex-Commodore Warrior: attended EVRY SIG I could reach with my C64 & Amiga in-hand. I fail to see why anyone would pay ~$1000 for a C64?! The barebone units are only the plastic?! Good grief :(
I have a question. I tried creating partition via the install and it's asking me a password. You know the default password for Commodore OS 2? I tried live123 and adminuser with no avail.
Aw man, I stopped running Windows some months ago! Well, sometimes I fire it up in Lib-virt. Hey I wonder if I can run Commodore OS 2.0 inside Lib-virt?

No commodore is not back until someone modernises basic it will never be back. Linux is not commodore os. That would be like putting a c64 theme on an Android phone and calling it the new c64 phone.
This is just a theme pack for mx linux...price tag is absurd...just get yourselves a real original c64...the c64 was never designed to be modded to run in 2024...it is a machine of the 80s and 90s....

The one from 10 years ago was based on Mint which is based on Debian. This one is based on MX Linux which is based on Debian.
Hi there, the Distro Creator here. Don't forget to click "Enable Video Acelleration" which changes the experience entirely.

This OS is labled "commodore" but doesn't natively run Commodore software, i Don't understand why. anyone can install emlulators in linux.
