Oh they will be 😂😂😂😂 that stuff is getting tired bro. They even killed off the chick at the end of Covenant off screen. Then the Walter Android I think was killed off screen or whichever one is the good one.
I recommend you check out Coraline. It's darker than you think, harkening back to when stories for kids could have a bit of nastiness. It's my favorite stop-motion movie.
All of those Stop motion animated movies are incredible. I saw Paranorman First and fell in love with the Studio. Coraline is cool, and Kubo is strong. There is one more I haven't seen yet. ParaNorman is the one I think James would love.
James, Coraline is that rare creation, both the story and adaptation, that works on multiple levels. There are some genuinely creepy elements to it that might tickle your twisted sensibilities. This from someone with their own twisted sensibilities. Cheers for the consistently informative, thought provoking, and entertaining content.
I've just seen Romulus for a second time in IMAX. That tells you everything I think of it. 😂 The bad Ian Holm CGI did take me out of it and a couple throw back lines should have been left out of it, even if the two audiences I was sitting in cheered at the "stay away from her" line. Other than that I loved it.
Glad it's doing ok but oh boy has this one been over-hyped by so many reviewers. I think the explanation is that we're at desperation point for a franchise film that isn't complete garbage. It's another one that will disappear from the radar as soon as it's out of theatres, as with Furiosa and Prey. Fine in the moment with a bucket of popcorn but not amounting to anything at all in the long run.
For all the hate Bjorn is getting, I really liked the character. He hated synths and actually tried to take down the alien before it molted into an adult xenomorph. Taking action and despising synths usually serve characters well in the Alien universe.
His character was dumb. He was unnecessarily angry to the point that that was his only defining characteristic/personality trait. Then he dies because he is curious? He had the alien hurt after he electrocuted it then he touches it? After the blood burns him? ... then he stands and fulls under it??... stupid. Also the pregnant character was pretty stupid. The love interest and bald chick were more believable.
Laika Animation is one of my favorite underrated animation studios of all time. Didn’t see Coraline back then, I was at the time seeing District 9. It sucks that we’ll never get a sequel to District 9.
Great B.O. Breakdown as usual James. I really enjoyed 'Alien Romulus' and in my opinion it's the fifth best Alien film. 4:04 - I agree. Why not choose another actor to play a replicant or bring back Fassbender's replicant. I just can't trust Disney or as George Lucas calls them ''White Slavers". 5:37 - 😆. I enjoyed the cast of Romulus. 10:35 - here here. 13:53 - I caught 'Corraline' yesterday & yeah it's too kid friendly but it looks great. 18:47 - I caught 'Skincare' after Romulus and I really enjoyed it.
It’s Monday, Aug. 19. Discussion about “Alien: Romulus” is now over. It’s done. Time to put it to rest. Maybe we’ll revisit it at the end of the year, but this one’s in the books. You can express your grievances again when the next Alien movie comes out in two to three years, but I guarantee you, it won’t matter by then! Move on to the next topic of the week!
You’re being too hard on the Romulus characters’. They’re desperate 20-somethings stuck in a life they didn’t ask for. At that age you make poor decisions. I came from a very poor family, I know I made some questions choices. Anyways, I’m glad Romulus is doing well! It was a great time at the theaters. 😎🍿
you see if they made some version of "Bodies Bodies Bodies" + "Alien". little obnoxious young adults vs Xeno that could be sth really interesting. but they decided to make them these hardened mine workers or sth making it look ridiculous.
My rebuttal is always: “Deadpool & Wolverine.” People had no problem with them literally digging Logan from the grave! LFG, right? LFG! 😂 It is hypocritical to criticize the elements in “Alien: Romulus” but like (or tolerate) the same elements in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” If you do that, then you’re just being a fanboy.
Agree 'Alien :Romulus' (which I think is worth seeing) would have been better without the super-obvious callbacks. However, I am glad the industry, and R-rated sci-fi movies in general, are having a decent summer.
$41.5 Million. That’s the second best opening weekend for an Alien movie behind Prometheus at $51 Million (which is a good movie but overrated at best). I enjoyed Romulus. Finally we get a good Alien movie, something Fox swung and a miss after years of not knowing what to do with the franchise.
Oop You should have prefaced the video with a *Spoiler *Tag for Alien Romulus I had purchased a ticket for Saturday but wasn’t able to go until later tonight 👍
Liked it a lot, but didn't love it. Only glad it's doing well in order to hopefully tentpole it's way for a bigger and better sequel. Bring back Cameron's space Marines and borrow lightly from Dark Horse's Alien vs Predator, giving us what both sides of the fan aisles want - large scale military battles in open space, then ending with close quarters horror aspects once inside the spaceships. Create characters that we CARE for, that withstands the test of time like first two films.
I like the movie well enough. Nice tension, nice pacing. The ending was bad and deflating. The characters outside of the andriod were one dimensional and stupid. The pregnant character was annoying and useless to the overall plot. The Bjorn guy who was angry died in the most unimaginative way and possibly had more potential had he lived longer. Andy was interesting. I loved his character arch. Much like Micheal Fassbender's synthetic, he was the standout character and outshined any of his human counterparts.
I have not seen Romulus yet. I think I will like it. But I have a feeling Prometheus is still going to be somewhere in my top 5 with the Sigourney Weaver films.
The purest/ageist in you is killing the vibe of the success of the movie. Alien had an advantage of well known actors which is why you're do endeared to those characters.
that so not true. most people even younger viewers are not familiar with rest of the crew of Nostromo. it's just quality writing, character actors, wonderful dynamic between them make all the difference. Romulus has none of it. truth be told Aliens strongest of the sequels have it very little as well.

Disney finally figured out what to do with the Fox content, it seems. Hopefully they won't over-saturate it, but they're (Hopefully) learning from mistakes.

Do reccomend but you'll maybe lean towards going back to Succesion then. Season 3 I think is on its 2nd episode as of today.
