VOB from Indonesia, a small village in West Java. Indonesia is a 90% Muslim majority, and there has never been a state or Islamic religion forbidding women from singing or having a career. many Indonesian female Muslim singers whose careers are known internationally. Tryy to check the Vanny Vabiola channel. wearing hijab and very famous. Check out Vanny Vabiola's TH-cam channel. Phenomenal. VOB they play metal music, which is not very familiar in the village, and they as Muslim women in hijab play metal music, which is against the culture in the village. not because their religion is Islam. Where they come from West Java, there are many famous female singers in Indonesia. but only those with metal music. Hopefully it can be understood, it was the type of music and village culture that initially banned them from playing music. not because of religion or because gender not being allowed to have a career. they are great... I Love them.👍👍👍
They have a video on their channel where they talk to Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and talk about writing this song. They were talking to a teacher who they confided in about being musicians and that possibly conflicting with the people around them and with Islam. The teacher asked them if they believe in God. They said yes, of course. He suggested then that they should write a song asking God for permission to play music. It's sad to me that they would have to confide in someone about merely wanting to play music, but that's the way it is for now.
