Is there a way to deactivate or opt out of this as a viewer? I find the comments much harder to read now with those little magnifying glass icons everywhere, and I cant seem to find any information on this new feature

No, you can't deactivate , but you can change your comment settings and block particular words

There's way more necessary updates like honestly this is kind of unnecessary
