    awsome easy understandable explanation, I have read too many articles to find out exactly what is going on, but this demonstration caused me to understand fully. thanks for that

    Thank you for explaining in such a clear and conscise way. Perfect for understanding the effect of high vflow supplemental O2 on patients with acute exacerbation of COPD.

    Correction: It's Oxygen induced Hypercapnia, not hypoxia induced hypercapnia as mentioned on the last figure!

    Very well explained, though I watched it several times to let it sink in. I'll watch it a few more times, too.

    In such a situation activating the cheif muscle of respiration is theophylline acts both on diaphragm and cardiac output.also inhaled corticosteroids.control of infections.acute on chronic failure picture worsens with high flow o2 over a prolonged period.

    What does "Reserve" mean when they say Case Western Reserve? Like are they holding something back?

    I was thinking to go into respiratory therapist soon. I need to talk to the counselor. I have all my pre requisites. Only need three courses.

    A patient who has mild COPD can benefit from 1-2 L O2 via NC at HS for Hypoxemia. This Pt in the Video, had End Stage COPD.

    This is a little off topic but I was wondering if CO2 fire extinguishers are as deadly as some people think. I thought that having slightly elevated blood CO2 levels (being Hypercapnic) actually causes Oxygen to be released from hemoglobin more readily. So if you were to breath in CO2 wouldn’t it have the same effect as elevated blood acidity (as if you were breath holding) and not be immediately deadly?

    • @aarontooth
      @aarontooth ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the problem is it displaces oxygen in room air. Any sudden gas release has the same problem. That's why I advise staying away from Taco Bell.

    I got lost when she was explaining the V Q mismatch and then she say why giving Oxygen would stop this hypoxic constriction deffense mechanism , cause it would increase the perfusion . And then she went to ; but that blood would have to come from somewhere... can someone explain me pls

    • @jenyarb48
      @jenyarb48 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is being diverted away from the aveolae that are still capable of normal perfusion.
