It was a battle between the greatest power in India, the Marathas(in association with almost declined Mughal empire) vs Afghan ruler Ahmed Shah Abdalli( supported by Indian Afghan Chiefs of Rohilkhand and Nawabs of Awadh).
Many Indian powers supported Abdali either because they were plundered by Marathas very often, or were jealous of Marathas or due to Afghan ethnic links.
Marathas lost, never to return to the peak of power. This battle left India open to British to become most formidable force in India, as only power capable to stop them were the Marathas.
So, for India it is always said, that it cannot be defeated by outsiders without the help of insiders.
This had been the trend during Islamic Turkish invasion and Mughal invasion on India.
In the past(5-6th century), Huns also attacked India(at the same time when they pushed eastern Europe into chaos and led to decline of Western Roman empire), but they were ousted by Gupta Dynasty rulers like KumarGupta and SkandaGupta. At that time, there were lesser internal fights comparatively.
The only thing interesting in this one was “Sanjay Dutt” he looked awesome and i bet he’d do good too.
