  • I recently installed a TCS (Train Control Systems) CN-GP decoder on one of my two Life-Like Canada CN GP9ru locomotives, (These are the models with the stock 'chop nose' Canadian National rebuilt these units with) This is going to be unit 4023, the other will be 4114, and the shells for both are still 'in the shop' and will be shown later.
I've seen a lot of comments in various forums about these particular models not running well, but note how smoothly this eight-year old unit rolls with the TCS decoder - particularly since it hasn't been used for those eight years. It never even ran on DC. This is its maiden run.
When this locomotive finally debuts, it will have Richmond Electronics miniature LED headlights, deck-mounted ditch lights, separately-lit numberboards and fiber-optic truck lights. Yup... fiber-optic truck lights. I've already tried them out in a VIA Rail F40PH, and it actually turned out to be one of the easier stunts I've attempted. Who knew.
Anyway, nice work, TCS. As they say back in the east... I'm smilin' as I raise me glass lookin' t'ards ye!
The music is stock audio from Apple iMovie.
