- This was a stupidly difficult challenge, my goal was 6 minutes or sub 6 minutes and almost all of my clears were 6:20, until this run.
This quest has FORCED monster invasions with Rajang and Magnamalo, unless you spawn Daora in its 10% spawn area which is dogshit to fight it.
So instead I opted for this spawn, and used flash bombs, which I usually NEVER use, just to prevent the Turf War between it and Magnamalo (that's also why my map shows up in this video)
Anyways, if you are wondering, yes, I chose to do this with Spread LBG on purpose. If you're unaware, Kushala Daora's Wind Mantle (always active in Risen state for Risen Daora) protects it from bullet damage except pierce ammo, and the only part of its body that can be shot by any other ammo is its front limbs.
However the Wind Mantle seems to be a "bubble" hitbox around Kushala Daora and not precisely tied to its body parts, meaning that at certain angles/during certain of its animations, even shooting the front limbs will count as hitting the mantle, rewarding you with zero damage.
It is clear this would've been easier with a pierce elemental set or with Courage or Strength Hammer but I wanted to do this a unique way, for fun and challenge. Also because I can only play Spread LBG to have fun with the weapon.
As for EX Daora, I think it has been decently tweaked, but seems like the weakest of the EX Elder Trio by far. It is difficult, and it hits like an absolute truck, but the fight is far less crazy than Chameleos and Teo.
Also my apologies for how dark this hunt is. Even cranking my brightness to 70 doesn't matter, this game is just goddamn dark at night and the frost islands in particular.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but EX Risen Kushala is the funnest of the three to fight for me. Kushala is the biggest glow up in the series man. It's also pretty damn hard, harder than ex cham but not teo for me. I love the buffed up version of it's attack sequence it always uses when going risen, it's new patterns and aerial combos, and especially the combo of the "go in the middle before it's too late!" tornados into the dragon stomp. Some of it's changes aren't as obvious, but still significant and fun.
Looks good! I just started rise and have idea who Jae is, but this now gun looks like my speed to play. I usually stick to hammers or twin blades on mhw.
You know what I kind of want to do at some point for LBG in this game?
I want to compile a list of the best Rapid Fire guns in the game that Can't Move And Shoot/Reload, because I want to sacrifice literally everything for the sake of damage and try and make the tactile feel of using a gun in this game resemble 4th gen and prior gunning. I wanna know if you can actually do that, and I want to know if it would suck in this game's environment or if you could make it viable. Get only just the right amount of reload speed and recoil that you get roughly the same amount of commitment per shot fired, instead of just 'hang on let me spend all my One Slot Decorations on removing all feedback from this gun and making it a rhythmic bullet hose'.
Like, genuinely the issue is it's so easy to get your gunner substats deco'd in on your build because they're all single-slots, and the simple act of being able to fire more bullets faster is the biggest DPS gain in the game theoretically possible, especially stacked on top of being able to strafe around every attack while you do it. It's the thing I don't really like about gunning in this game, it's... genuinely kind of way too easy, in that sense (not to say every hunt is now ggez every time I pick up an HBG or w/e but you know what I mean). I do kind of miss that little bit of Stress I felt every time I pulled the trigger on my 4-shot-salvo of elemental ammo or whatever in 4U and I wonder if it can be recreated without making me want to die entirely because 'oh turns out Sunbreak is literally too fast for that'.
Does someone know, which layered Headpiece this is? Or is this exclusive for Female?
Its Ethereal Diadem, you need to complete all support surveys, and beat the Advanced quest

Due to its protection from bullets with the wind BS I resort to Artillery Shield HBG. One of the few times I'm happy to main it seriously for fights like this because Spread HBG was a horrible experience with how mobile it is. Curious why you opted for Jae as a follower? If you are trying to prevent turf wars he is the absolute last follower to consider.
I mix which followers I bring as to not do many repeats between quests and Jae has decently high HP, allowing him to tank through very difficult quests like this without needing to be revived. Doesn't have anything to do with the turf war.
Pierce still hits trough its wind armor which is decent
