another neat little thing about frostcraft is that it works very well with sakura slash. If u dont cancel the sheath animation the frostcraft bar will refill almost faster then the dmg ticks consuming it.
A funny thing about that is depending on when both hits of sakura slash connect with the monster, (and you might need to use the Velk sword for this one, bc I’m doing that) sometimes the frostcraft shimmer effect triggers for every hit and it looks funny
I love this interaction, it let's every hit of Sakura hit for around 100 every tick, especially if you use the Velkhana Longsword to make the gauge fill faster
My quick sheathe 3 foray 2 no slot talisman is finally worth using! Thanks for the build suggestions Peppo. By far the most informative build recommendations. It's always worth it to wait for your uploads.
We love you peppo. you’re so underrated and you deserve so much more. you put so much effort and thought into these videos we honestly feel spoiled. ❤️
Though lai-spirit counter doesnt work all too well with Frost Craft, the rest of velkhana's armor does. Having crit draw and high affinity and the added quick draw makes it pretty viable as options. But I think rather use TU3 over it still. Maybe dragon conversion from the new valsatrax. With that said, still benefits LS way more than most weapons including great sword. Because great sword is horrendous for anything that isn't blast or raw. Which is a good thing- kinda. But, its awesome to see someone analyzed these skills! I think with the velk weapons, using lai spirit may be an option.
I'm a noob as far as LS is concerned (I'm a cowardly Lance main) so I use Frostcraft with Special Sheath. It takes me so long to decide how to unsheathe that the gauge has time to recharge! Tbh I use this as a joke build. My "primary" LS build uses Sacred Sheath (which I land about once per hunt) and the Risen Kushala set, with a focus on the silkbind parry move. Information on how things work from a pro is very insightful though, so thanks for the video.
I find Frostcraft is more comfortable to use than Wind Mantle, as for my playstyle usually sheath the weapon alot, walk arround, check my teammate status to see if they need healing or throw a flash to help them escape, wait for opportunity to set trap, use epidemic life to make it easier for myself and my teammate to deal damage. For the style, as you said, SSC style is better since ISS style consume too much frostcraft gauge with little charge refund before the sheath animation run out, while with SSC you can completely charge up before dealing big damage, I find myself using SSC style alot lately since Frostcraft release.
I am using sakura slash and Sacred sheathe cause I am so bad on Counter timing of the monster hehe...will do full Frostcraft build with your set. NICE VID
How come the Gold Rathian Longsword outscales the Lucent Nargacuga Longsword? I know that you need to augment for Rampage Slot with Lucent, but with the Additional Attack Augments Golden Rathian still ends up with the Same Raw as Lucent. On top of that you also have to invest into Handicraft 2 (if you have augmented far enough) with the Golden LS to reach Purple Sharpness, while also having worse Slots in the Weapon. The only thing where the Golden LS seems to outscale the Lucent LS is Poison and the 10% Affinity, but I don't know if that is worth sacrifing essentially two level 4 decoration slots. Would love to hear your Opinion on this!
Probably because I'm considerably worse than Peppo, I actually get a lot of value out of frostcraft with special sheathe to the point that it feels worth using again for me even if it's still a bit weaker than becoming a full time beyblade. This is style I would want LS to play as with special sheathe and helm breaker on one scroll for when monsters are enraged and sacred+sakura slash on the other for when the monster is exhausted or downed or to quickly mount a non target monster. Even get to use both spirit slash variants. But yeah, I end up spending longer in special sheathe stance because I am very imperfect and don't use it the right time all the time so it charges up a fair amount. i'm definitely not spending the whole fight in level 3 or anything, but I'm probably averaging like a 10% boost and I still have it for powerful sacred 3s when I've got the chance.
I figured as much since Frostcraft doesn't play nice with Wind Mantle and that skill became key to my offense since I absolutely abuse Sakura Slash into Sacred Sheath and have condition myself to almost never sheath my sword outside of healing and running. That and Frostcraft really is an all-or-nothing skill since Frostcraft at 1 and 2 isn't that good with the Rimeguard Coil being meh for longswords since we don't need Focus, while one point in Wind Mantle is all I need and thanks the this update,I can put it in any armor piece. That all being said, I'm rocking the Rimeguard Mail because it has 3 Quick Sheathe with great slots. In TU5, Frostcraft will most likely go into Qurious crafting and I will probably invest in Frostcraft 2 just to make my Sacred Sheath stronger depending on what the new skill are.
Do you think it’s useful to eat Dango specialist for more status? I guess monsters are already poisoned for most of the time without eating for specialist
for the frostcraft build, why did you use risen kushala head? as you said in the video wind mantle will not have much of use, in my build i use risen teostra head piece. it has crit eye, weakness exploit and powder mantle, plus lv3 and lv2 skots
I'm pretty sure it's due to the Sakura slash spam when using SSC. You'll usually have your sword drawn the whole time and Sakura Slash is really wirebug hungry
Yeah exactly because of this. Wind Mantle is a must if you spam silkbind attacks, and with sacred sheathe play style you definitely want to spam Sakura, that’s where WM comes in handy. If you then can get WM on the Risen Teostra head via Qurio Armor Crafting… well sure then that’s better 😅
Goldian LS with no focus fully charges level 3 frostcraft pretty much exactly as fast as you get to full power with sacred sheathe, so honestly I'm of the mind that you should just use it if you can. It gives a pretty big boosts to sacred sheathe and that by itself justifies having it. Hell, I'd even run it alongside WInd Mantle 1 because during special/sacred sheathe WInd Mantle remains active and helps get your wirebugs back after a Sacred Sheathe combo so you can get back to red fast with 2 Sakuras. Btw Intrepid Heart for the price of a size 1 slot is amazing for making sure your big damage moves don't get interrupted.
Ive been waiting for this before I start playing TU4. thanks as always Peppo! Just a side question, is it worth levelling powder mantle to lvl 3 through qurio or no? thanks
Hopefully he will answer but not for LS IMO. It builds it up super faster and you have to wait out the 20 second orange timer no matter what level you have and the damage doesn't increase.
Some passing thoughts Wind Mantle is q craftable now, so it may be possible to replace the headgear for Risen Teostra to min max the Powder Mantle procs, as well as the crit boosts. I think anything past Attack Boost level four is a waste when you can get more raw increases via other skills. Otherwise, I'm a HH player and don't really touch LS. It's possible my thoughts on Attack Boost aren't relevant simply because I'm using Frenzy, Dereliction, and Blast, so there are avenues for different damage increases where a solid LS build without those gimmicks/risks may not, so it's preferred to just max Attack Boost. I'll have to try that non-Frostcraft build if I ever touch LS. It might be nice not being as vulnerable with my HH build, or if I'm ever really needing tails.
frostcraft for ls was perfect in iceborne when the special sheathe animation took forever to occur and quick sheath did precious little to improve sheath time
Im on switch and was wondering what settings you have for camera/game/controls etc and what you usually leave on when you want to give off a cinematic/tutorial video
Good Peppo, a doubt, with the abilities, what is there now and the increases, the Quryo long sword of poison, already surpasses the elemental ones? I don't know if with the Velkhana element set it will still be good 😅😁
@@PeppoLS Ok :’). Bone elemental longswords are still stronger than a poison one with the Velkhana set, I saw that the Gold Rathian longsword with burst and bonus stack does much more damage than the elementals
Hey ! Nice work thank you Is it still worth to look for some element LS and element talent instant of another one (Critical boost & dragon attack 5 for example) ? Or just elemental LS with these talents is enough
why not the "kaktus himmel" longsword from flaming espinas? 20% affinity, better slots and also poison for foray. I know fire is not the best element but for overall damage it shpuld be better right?
Hi, big fan of your tutorials and builds, i have a question, is it really worthy to get maximum might in sacred sheat? I ask this because i move all the time to repositon and that take stamina, or that is a bad habit of mine?
its not worth it anymore since you have critical draw specially putted there for your sacred sheath combo. also when u charge your blade, you're using dash to evade or get close to the monster so, it'll be unnecessary to put maximum might. It works well with special sheath since it you're just standing up there hitting and waiting for counters.
imo, the first point is a game changer while levels 2-3 are luxury. If you get them, it's good but not significant so i usually just run atleast 1 and get generally good ones, like burst, powder mantle, bloodlust etc so I can use the piece in other builds as well. 👍
Wind Mantle level 1 is fine. Build Up Boost the more levels you get the better I guess. Priority is getting WM1 PM1 BUB1 and then try to raise BUB levels
I noticed you use the Rathalos instead of Scorn Magnamalo for the waist. Is Mail of Hellfire not that important? Also, does Luna LS build outperform elemental LS on weakness matchups?
Mail of hellfire is good if you play Elemental LS, otherwise I wouldn’t personally use it. Luna LS, thanks to Build Up Boost primarily, outclass all the elemental LS in most match ups. Velkhana is an exemption, in that case Magma Almudron LS is the way to go
Am I overestimating handicraft for LS, or even in general ? I’m not very late game yet, but it’s the skill I’m prioritizing when getting new armor/decorations
Yeah, it's not very worthwhile in rise unless you need one or two levels to reach a new sharpness tier. It's almost always more efficient to just get a different sharpness skill like razor sharp or protective polish (or bladescale hone if you are running adrenaline boost and evasion skills).
The thing is that in Sunbreak the difference between white and purple sharpness for raw damage is just 5%, so most of the times it doesn’t make sense to get purple if you can have enough white.
Wait I don't understand the armor augmenting. Do I lose all current stats? I'm doing the frostcraft and the boots and helmet give great stats why would I remove those for powder mantle. Seems like a waste
@PeppoLS Hi Peppo, I am an elemental users since MHW, so the build up boost raw still the best META for LS build now? Coz I kinda want to try on the build up boost build if elemental will never surpasses RAW in sunbreak. Appreciate the content!
Elemental has surpassed raw thanks to skills like foray and build up. Without those, I believe raw might remain superior. This is what I’ve been hearing around the LS community at least
@@geezus7678 But for furious rajang my elemental ice build still melts him away faster than the raw buildup boost With LS poison in it. I assume thats because poisoon didnot affect rajang at all yes? Coz i just cheked status vulnerability on rajang Poison is not recommended.
Elemental LS is still decent, especially on monsters with high weakness to the element (Velkhana for example). However, when monsters have good HZVs about 60+ and you can consistently hit them, then Raw surpass element most of the times. And here the player’s skill plays a key role: always hitting the weak point will make raw more powerful than element, but if you struggle hitting the weak point then element tends to outclass the raw. In general raw is better because of Build Up Boost which boost your DAMAGE (not attack) anyway.
@@PeppoLS got u! So its just a matter of adjusting which monster got better HZV then imma use raw, if not and EZV value is higher go for elemental yes? Appreciate the assist 🔥🔥🔥
Is maximum might a good skill, since you need to keep stamina at full to get the actual affinity boost? How long does it take for the skill to activate? Would you benefit more from using something like Crit eye instead?
Long Swords actually one of the best weapons to keep Maximum Might active. It's attacks rarely if ever use stamina. That paired with somewhat generous window Maximum Might affords when actually using stamina makes it a pretty damn good skill for the weapon.
@@YoungstaJoey-j2s Maximum Might only need 3 points to get 30% Affinity while Crit Eye need 6 points. Compared to Crit Eye, it's a skill that's use for slot efficiency at the cost of tighter stamina management.
i somehow got another build with frostcraft that uses lvl7 attack boost lvl7 critical eye lvl5 defiance lvl3 quick sheath lvl3 focus lvl3 crit al draw lvl3 wirebug whisperer lvl3 speed sharpening lvl3 stun resistance lvl2 int heart lvl2 helm of hellfire lvl1 powder mantle lvl1 wind mantle lvl1 weakness exploit lvl1 element exploit lvl1 flinch free and a free 2 slot and a 4 slot so i put on lvl3 evade extender as a comfy skill
It is. Elemental build are massive DPS difference over raw or status. But it depends entirely on your plastyle. Ele rewards perfect play better, raw loses less for less optimal play.
Longsword is still a primarily raw weapon imo, some of it's attacks have good element multipliers but it's raw damage gets boosted much easier and faster. Charge blade and switch axe are weapons where element far out damages raw
It was before TU2, before they introduced Risen Chameleos, and specifically Build Up Boost. The problem is that LS always struggled with element, and Capcom givi by you more offensive power with raw/status weapons doesn’t help. So yeah poison LS in Sunbreak, as for this moment, are superior.
Foray is a DAMAGE boost. That’s the difference. Attack boost is an attack boost xD. Build up Boost is simply too strong imo, it shouldn’t have never existed, the elemental LS meta got completely destroyed 😢
If you dodge only 1 step then MM won't unproc. If you dodge 2-3 step then it would proc again in around 3.5 second. It's pretty usable, especially if you need to wait for FC bar to refill anyway. And don't forget fc3 comes with Crit Draw, and it does affect the whole 3 attack of Sacred.
Yeah that's why you have Critical Draw, to guarantee the crit on the Spirit Release Slash even if you reposition before landing the attack. The point of Maximum Might is to gain 20% affinity for all the moves that don't consume stamina, and Longsword doesn't usually consume it, that's why MM is good with this weapon :)
I tend to use a bit of both styles with each on one of my scrolls (Sakura/Sacred on one, Helmbreaker/Special on the other) That way I can still use Helmbreaker if the monster is a bit too active for me to land the Sacred Sheathe combo, and I can use Sakura Slash if I'm not used to their attacks enough to counter (I'm no super practiced speedrunner, so having these back-up strategies for when I'm having a hard time is helpful) Do you think Frostcraft is worth it on these sorta hybrid builds? Or is it better to just use the more general build in that case?
I say it only good for weapons that don't utilize counters for there damage. DD or HH level 5 evade window are probably you best bet for use foray for max dos
Correct match up will give ele an edge but not much. If you can get Buildup Boost 3 and/or Foray 3 then it's no contest. Luna wins. Edit: Ah don't forget that Foray can be triggered by Poison, Paralysis and elemental blights, it's not limited to your weapon's ailment. So don't forget to pickup those beetles.
They are if the enemy has shitty elemental zones, like 5-15. Many monsters have 20-25 which makes elemental option superior. Status builds are however more reliable (regardless of elemental zones) and versatile (since almost all monsters can be affected by poison/blast etc).
I know I’m not gonna take credit for the frostcraft build, but something funny I thought of using those same pieces for that set when I made my frostcraft Ls set
You just need 1 lvl of powdermantle to have its effects with qurio crafting its easy to get it on the frostcraft set. Also when playing sacred sheath you may want to try out just QS lvl 2 instead of 3 to get more time when you need to counter.
It depends on your playstyle... If you play with Sacred Sheathe go for Frostcraft, you don't have enough space for Powder mantle. You can only get that via Qurio armor crafting unfortunately. You'd lose too many skills if you want both Frostcraft 3 + Powder Mantle 1 without using Qurio armor crafting
So i tested it and im not sure if i miss something or whats wrong but: My testsubject is rajang (i know 0 weakness to poison) when doing helmbreakers i now only get between 100-120 ticks. While when i used my frostcraft build or any older build that just focused on raw i got 180-210 ticks. Is build up boost really that usefull compared to full raw attack and full critical eye?
my goldian ls hits harder than mizu and tigrex ls w/ max agitator my mizu ls has max peak peformance, max maximum might, max crit eye, max attack boost, max agitator but gold rathian hits harder with 190-243 ticks i also see few 304 and i think that's the additional from my foray lvl 2 and max buildup boost. But i also have full atk boost here with my goldian and gave up 2 crit eye
so yeah buildup boost adds 20% when you land a hit building abnormal stats and kinda superior to agitator and peak performance coz percentage = higher damage than flat ones
another neat little thing about frostcraft is that it works very well with sakura slash.
This is true, because sakura’s tics consume only 6% of the gauge each. Nice observation!
I love this interaction, it let's every hit of Sakura hit for around 100 every tick, especially if you use the Velkhana Longsword to make the gauge fill faster
I am not a good player so I do Sakura Slash twice/thrice, run around for position and Sacred Slash and repeat A and B.
Same with automatic sheathe after Spirit Roundslash. Frostcraft bar start refilling as soon as the sheathe animation starts.
I'm not taking Rise as serious so I was bumbling around with my TU2 build up until now and it's time to upgrade. Thanks, Peppo!
What's hilarious is Sacred Sheathe's 3 level charge synergized perfectly with Frostcraft full charge wait

Wow what a coincidence! :D

Im sorry but that what is that sword and armor you look so cool??
beautiful armor spé skin , what the name please :) ?
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Is maximum might a good skill, since you need to keep stamina at full to get the actual affinity boost? How long does it take for the skill to activate? Would you benefit more from using something like Crit eye instead?
Long Swords actually one of the best weapons to keep Maximum Might active. It's attacks rarely if ever use stamina. That paired with somewhat generous window Maximum Might affords when actually using stamina makes it a pretty damn good skill for the weapon.
@@GUTHICC But wouldn't crit eye just be a better overall skill, since you don't have to meet a conditional requirement to get the affinity boost?
@@YoungstaJoey-j2s Maximum Might only need 3 points to get 30% Affinity while Crit Eye need 6 points.
Compared to Crit Eye, it's a skill that's use for slot efficiency at the cost of tighter stamina management.
@@YoungstaJoey-j2s Crit eye is more Slot intensive with the max level being 7
what style of armor do you use?
i somehow got another build with frostcraft that uses
lvl7 attack boost
lvl7 critical eye
lvl5 defiance
lvl3 quick sheath
lvl3 focus
lvl3 crit al draw
lvl3 wirebug whisperer
lvl3 speed sharpening
lvl3 stun resistance
lvl2 int heart
lvl2 helm of hellfire
lvl1 powder mantle
lvl1 wind mantle
lvl1 weakness exploit
lvl1 element exploit
lvl1 flinch free
and a free 2 slot and a 4 slot so i put on lvl3 evade extender as a comfy skill
does dereliction affects on poison or nah?
Frostcraft with LBG Machine gun build?
Is swapping your longsword to the corresponding element actually worth it in rise?
Do i need status trigger if im playing on multiplayer?
What layered armor are you using
I still miss the safi jiva set effect :( everything else doesn't tingle me nearly as much
Oh right that skill was good, but the monster… I’d rather not fight that thing again 😂
@@PeppoLS first time was cool but it got very tiring very fast 😅
Is foray + buildup boost better than attack + agitator and + burst ?
My guess is yes, bc Foray + Buildup lvl 3 gives you a Flat 20% boost while Agitator lvl 5 is a non flat 20% and u already have 100% of Affinity.
Foray is a DAMAGE boost. That’s the difference. Attack boost is an attack boost xD. Build up Boost is simply too strong imo, it shouldn’t have never existed, the elemental LS meta got completely destroyed 😢
What are those red birds flying around him?
For the qurious weapon, which boost better? Attack, affinity, status effect or sharpness?
Attack
is abyssal flicker good for this set?
are there many skills that are good on Lv 1? Like in your build. Wind and powdermantle and foray
Burst, Intrepid Heart, Embolden, these are just few that come to mind right now
Sorry but what is the point to use Maximum Might? When I use secret sheath, I normally need to dogde alot to reposition.
What layered armor is that it looks nice
Yukumo head, the rest is Azure Age.
What is that sexy layered armor?!
What is the skin of his helmet please
What song is this?
What's the ability wich makes the wirebug green?
Wind mantle I think
Some one please let me know the armor/layered armor peppo used in this video, please
The layered armor is the Azure Age armor with the Yukumo helm.
I tend to use a bit of both styles with each on one of my scrolls (Sakura/Sacred on one, Helmbreaker/Special on the other)
That way I can still use Helmbreaker if the monster is a bit too active for me to land the Sacred Sheathe combo, and I can use Sakura Slash if I'm not used to their attacks enough to counter
(I'm no super practiced speedrunner, so having these back-up strategies for when I'm having a hard time is helpful)
Do you think Frostcraft is worth it on these sorta hybrid builds? Or is it better to just use the more general build in that case?
He said the decorations so fast lol. Anyone got a list of what for both builds?
It’s Great For My No Counter Build
Anyone know the name of pappo layered armor
If the Best User of Longsword and Master of that Weapon says it, then is true.
Are poison/Foray builds stronger than elemental builds?
Status builds are however more reliable (regardless of elemental zones) and versatile (since almost all monsters can be affected by poison/blast etc).
any subs for the helm and leggings part on the frostcraft build?
I know I’m not gonna take credit for the frostcraft build, but something funny I thought of using those same pieces for that set when I made my frostcraft Ls set
You nailed it then!
@@PeppoLS A reply from the goat? Yooo.
When leaving a weird team makes for better content 😂
Comunque con sto update, è diventata tanta roba la Longsword.
What layered armor is he using?
Yukumo head, the rest is Azure Age.
Frostcraft or Powermantle? I'm trying to build a set around both but :/
You just need 1 lvl of powdermantle to have its effects with qurio crafting its easy to get it on the frostcraft set.
@@Sejiko Thank you for informing me! Appreciate it.
@@PeppoLS Amazing advice. Thank you, I'll keep this in mind when building my set
@@Sejiko that’s a great advice!
Sorry offtopic but do you play mlbb? I played a german duo there one was called peppo just wondering if it was you?
No I don’t. Sometimes I play chess but that’s it, I don’t play other games
why no critical eye 7?
Not enough slots. If you feel more comfortable with CE7 just use a decent charm and swap the mighty deco with expert!
Whats the thumbnail LS?
Azure Star Longsword from the USJ event quest.
I love using poison weapons ❤
So i tested it and im not sure if i miss something or whats wrong but:
My testsubject is rajang (i know 0 weakness to poison) when doing helmbreakers i now only get between 100-120 ticks. While when i used my frostcraft build or any older build that just focused on raw i got 180-210 ticks.
Is build up boost really that usefull compared to full raw attack and full critical eye?
my goldian ls hits harder than mizu and tigrex ls w/ max agitator
my mizu ls has max peak peformance, max maximum might, max crit eye, max attack boost, max agitator but gold rathian hits harder with 190-243 ticks i also see few 304 and i think that's the additional from my foray lvl 2 and max buildup boost.
But i also have full atk boost here with my goldian and gave up 2 crit eye
so yeah buildup boost adds 20% when you land a hit building abnormal stats and kinda superior to agitator and peak performance coz percentage = higher damage than flat ones
