▶ My "It's Just A Video Game" Series: • Palentro's "It's Just ...
I wanted to try something different for my actual first edit. This beautifully intense soundtrack has been stuck in my head for awhile, then watching it being used in tribute videos has inspired me to edit one of my own. The music mainly revolves around The Last of Us series. Listening to the guitar strungs reminded me of Joel's first demonstration as he played and sung for Ellie, the last gift she inherited and memento of him reminding her of her deepest regret and true loss. Although the sequel received much controversy and backlash for the story's approach and direction, it has been an emotional rollercoaster experience I had ever felt nonetheless.

I wanted to try something different and do hope you’ll enjoy watching as this took a long time editing. This video isn't perfect, there are several parts (especially audio/sounds) that could’ve been exceedingly better, but I’m contentedly proud of the final result. At this point games almost and already rival movies books they show storytelling like no other, characters that you get so attached to. even more than characters in books and movies then they die and you have seen everything through these characters eyes and it tears you apart man, video games are more than just games, they are art

But this is great, at the start I thought it was like some of the others I had seen with a good starting transition and nothing else. but I was wrong, about half way through I started to recognize the effort and hard work done to make scenes from different games blend together, to make every motion inline with the music. so while I doubt these words will reach you, and an apology for sounding poetic but thank you. this is gaming. people might not respect it nor understand it but I can with certainty that you do. thank you for making this and for sharing this with us.

It's just a perspective that one can have. To deliberately not invest oneself in the story that a game tries to tell - I do it often, just turn off my brain and play - or to pay attention and live along these characters.
To paint yourself among them, live among them in their world. Invest yourself in their lives as you would do with friends and family in the real world.
We've kinda left the era of big monsters or insurmountable odds. Sure, we still have DOOM and other "simple" games for a reason, but most titles want to tell a story. Stories of grief and hardship or of victory and pride. It's not so much brain-dead fun anymore as it is to bring people an experience; like theatre or an event. It's no longer to spend time, but to witness.
Who am I kidding? We know damn Well that video games as a medium have grown incredibly fast. We can sling around big words all we want, but we all know that games are more than just the play: it's an event now.

Honestly, this was the best video I've seen in my life, TH-cam has a lot of content, but for me nothing beats the emotion of having seen this video, I felt very emotional because this video was so epic, so thank you!
And as much as I haven't played a lot of these games, the lines and the synchrony fit together in a phenomenal way to show the reality of being human.

These have been great to watch man. Love the transitions and all the work you put in. Many things I forgot about brought back a lot of memories and emotions. Especially the Church monologue near the end, wasn't expecting to feel so much emotion from that bit too.

Church's monolougue broaden my perspective of every hero's stories, how they're dedicated to saving the day, even to an extent to sacrificing their own life knowing they'll never witness the ending they've been truly fighting to achieve for. But entrusted and believed someone else will accomplish their dreams because they're still determinedly fighting with as much resolve as the hero had. 3:45-5:00 I absolutely adore. Not only are the music and transitions amazing, but it was like reliving the moments of my gaming experience that made me feel such emotion. I relived the feeling of seeing that nuke set off in Modern Warfare, me fighting my sworn brother in Yakuza Kiwami, me making that final leap to survive in Mass Effect 2, me feeling the weight of the consequences of my actions in Detroit Become Human.

I know this video is a year old and I hate that I'm seeing this just now
This proves video games are a work of art. They can sometimes provide stories that are so appealing to the human mind better than most modern day movies. Video games have caused a revolution in how entertainment is protrayed and how stories are told with the use of a giving us control of how the story can be told and placing us in the shoes of the main character in these 3d worlds and allow us to step away from reality for a few hours everyday, but they always manage to connect the story in this fictional world to real life lessons and have damn good actors portray the emotions felt in these stories to a tier I've seen some actors in movies struggle to do. Video games are the new medium of entertainment and have managed to touch a person's heart via a gripping story or just an escape from this crazy world we live in and will continue doing so for many years to come.
