No offence to anyone else...but Parimal-ji has the best right hand fingering based techniques and nikaas in the modern times....my personal opinion though

Whatever laykari you are capable of doing, whatever be your expertise on uapj, the most important thing of tabla playing is the nikas. It is the soul of tabla. Leave apart Anindya Chatterjee, Swapan Chowdhury, Kumarj Bose, Zakhir HUssain, Yogesh Samsij. The nikas of Pt Parimal Chakraborty I think is the best. Infact almost of that standard. Exery Tabla Player gets exposed when it comes about playing solo. It shows how much control you have on your instrument. Just listen to his solo playing here in this concert. You would have an idea how much control does he have on his instrument.
