    Yellowtail snapper are one of my favorite (and easiest) dinners here in Marathon. Those and Mangrove snappers are definitely my go-to fish.

    Worst part is the skin removal. But fried trigger fish is deeeelicious.

    Your recipes have been on point for a long time, but your plating skills have become killer. love your catch and cook videos, they have inspired me to stir things up in the kitchen again. You should consider doing a catch and cook off with Brook and a few of the guys.

    Do you know what rod you were using on the ballistic? It looks like a dobyns to me, but I'm not sure. I am currently looking for a rod around $100 or less to go with my Fuego 3000. I have a Dobyns fury that I use either my Fuego or Stradic ci4 on for bass fishing, but it is a medium light. I also have a 7ft Medium Heavy Fenwick HMG I use with the stradic when saltwater fishing and possibly will buy an identical one for the Fuego.

    That's a bad-ass looking trigger fish on the table! Were you fishing inside the reef or outside the reef? I keep seeing the American Shoals Lighthouse so your fishing where I grew up. I spent my summers for 21 years straight on Cudjoe Key at Mile Marker 22.

    We sometimes pull a little bit tight and play the line like a guitar for upto 30 seconds. The vibrations sometimes freak them out and they bolt out of their hole. 90 percent of the time it works half the time. Lol. Bermuda.

    Do you ever bleed your fish or is there no need to with saltwater fish? And I think a spoon works great for scaling as the scales don't fly everywhere so it's a little cleaner.

  • @bigfri5
    @bigfri5 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yo my mans. If you score the skin side of the fillet with the knife there is no need to press the fish down and let the moisture out of the fish to prevent it from curling. You see the fillet break after you press it down. Just a tip! Good stuff my guy

  • @montyleblanc4672
    @montyleblanc4672 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    You should try a stiff wire brush for scales. Works wonders for the species up here in the PacNW.

  • @propwash6880
    @propwash6880 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tip: pluck your line like a guitar. It annoys the grouper and makes them want to come out.

  • @vader2042
