- After the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, the Australian Government set up the National Redress Scheme to recognise the sexual abuse many people, including people with disability, experienced as children in institutions.
Through the Scheme, people who have experienced institutional childhood sexual abuse can request all or any of the following:
• Monetary payment to acknowledge the seriousness of the hurt experienced
• Counselling and psychological services
• If you want one, a direct personal response from the responsible institution
Our advocates provide free and confidential support for people with disability who are considering applying for the National Redress Scheme. Find out more on our website: pwd.org.au/our...
