I just wanted to say that you hit the nail on the head in that description. Bonnie is not as confident as what you see at first glance. The way you pointed out her complexities was beautiful. I adore her friendship with Damon too. It is so different and unique. This show may be a guilty pleasure most of the time but it does have some brilliant plot lines/relationships now and then.
