a lot of things happened during the war of our liberation struggle but after the war there was reconciliation and people shared differences and got united to be come friends. so why not the Gukurahundi era done the same, guys , if we keep on talking of the past we wont develop the country what so ever. lets do what the late cde VP Nkomo did to unite ZANU PF and ZAPU.

We had an alternate plan at elections, had Zapu joined us we wlould have crushed Zanu and their weak Zanla forces. It was inevitable that Mugabe would turn on the Matabele (Ndebele) and the whites. Sibanda, I am not patronising you, but really Zimbabwe needs people like today. It is very very rare to hear someone from Matebeleland who seeks to have way forward besides spewing tribal hatred and desire to revenge. What happened was unfortunate and both Zanu and Zapu leaders put the country on a bad path. We need to find each other guys. Nkomo himself said Gukurahundi was never a tribal war between Shonas and Amandebele. Gukurahundi affected both sides so is the current economic/political decay. Both Shonas and Ndebeles are destroying the country through Zanupf where minister of finance is a Ndebele. Talk of Obert Mpofu who was at centre of 15 billion diamond. There is no tribalism in ZANU but the ordinary citizens weaken themselves against a commom enemy.
Thanks to President Munangagwa for taking action on the Gugurahundi issue. The signing of the act indicates the true wish of reconciliation, peace and unity from the President. The country is on right direction in this manner.

A seperate Matebeleland state is not a good idea. We have intermarried and have relatives across the country. Are we going to need passports to go and visit our sisters brothers and children from the other side. I also support the fact that Shona and Ndebele relationship is in shamble, its a perenial time bomb. To resolve this issue we must go back to where it started. I do believe we all know that Gukurahundi is the latest event of this saga. Going back to the seventies Shonas and Ndebeles killed each other instead of killing whites who had conquered us for a century. Going back to the mid 1800 century our first encounter was not clean and smart. This could be the source of hatred. When Shonas meet the Mpofus, Nkomos, Ncubes today, they always remember the Ndebele brutalies that made their Shona families adopt new Ndebele surnames. It was not easy. today, Shonas feel Lobengula iltreated them and Ndebeles feel Mugabe iltreated them. Lets work together as Zimbabweans and stop this epic cancerous hatred.

The problem with Dabengwa is know that he did not know that ZAPU structures in other province suffered a loft yet he is only saying they kill Ndebele people.
At the first ZAPU Congress after it was revived, that is in 2009, there were two old ladies who spoke about the murder of their husbands and sons during Gukurahundi. One was from Mash West, the other from Manicaland. They spoke in Shona. This happened through the efforts of Dabengwa. But there is no doubt that the overwhelming majority of deaths happened in Matabeleland. During the killings, people were told "We are doing this to you because you are Ndebele". We know that the real reason was the agreement between the Zimbabwe government and the South African government to block Zimbabwe from being used as a rear base by MK. They therefore had to suppress ZAPU and make it look like a "tribal issue". Unfortunately the majority of victims believe that it was hatred by Shonas which was responsible rather than the political agenda to undermine African liberation which was the real reason.
It's a sad event shame and if it is left unsolved really its hurts I lost many relatives and neighbours This very event of umvukela has created hatred some us we find it better to stay separated to the Shonas and its spilling to our descendants Until maybe there truth and reconciliation it will easy the tension So far that page stays open and unread no solution
