I read on your website about leaf tip burn. I got those too in the inner leaf of my cos letucce crop. How much calimag did you add to your nutrient solution to solve the issue? Please note that my DLI is about 14 (should be good) and my nutrient solution EC is around 1.0. I am growing with DWC container of 8 gallons, those contains 6 plants each. Thank you, great information on both your website and this channel.

Thank you so much for the kind words Eric! I'm glad it's been useful for ya. I normally add 5ml per gallon of solution. That should help. Also, open that lettuce up once you feed calimagic. It will tear the dead tissue, but will open it up for healthy new growth. Make sure you have a fan or something on the lettuce as well, that will help improve transpiration.

@@HydroHowTo Thank you for the quick answer, I will apply those tip to my next grown. Just to be sure, you add the CaliMagic before the nutrient, then adjust the EC to the appropriate level? (this is the indication on the Calimagic bottle) Or you adjust the proper EC then add CalMag?

Depends on the nutrient you’re using. If you’re using a multi-part system, like Flora Series, add CaliMagic after the nitrogen-focused part (usually first part). If you’re using a single part nutrient like Flora Nova Grow, add CaliMagic after the nutrient.

@@HydroHowTo and the final EC (between 0.8 and 1.2) should include the Calmag

Yep! That’s the range I recommend. If it’s a little higher that’s ok.

Awesome video! Where do you buy those brown insert trays for the rapid rooters?

Thanks Luke! The brown insert tray is actually for rockwool cubes. I picked that one up at a local hydro shop, but you can pick them up on amazon as well. amzn.to/3xWXp0R (affiliate link)

@@HydroHowTo thanks! How long are you running those lights on them at the germination/early growth stage?

Lights on for 10 to 12 hours. I’m normally shooting for a DLI range of 6 to 10 during germination.

@@HydroHowTo great! Unfortunately my grow light is combining with the ambient summer heat to raise my rapid rooter temp to 91, leading to poor/slow germination. Do you think light is absolutely necessary for the lettuce to germ? I know it can vary from one variety to the next. I’m growing little gem, specifically

As long as your seedlings are getting a decent amount of sunlight, a grow light isn’t necessary.
