Many people get wrong the purpose of this device. It is not a Miyoo mini 2, but rather a Miyoo mini Pro. It;s not really meant to play Dreamcast, or PSP but to enhance what was already capable the original Miyoo mini like for example better PS1 with doubled resolution and better performance in other systems.
N64 games work for me great even on the stock firmware, you just have to lower the settings. Only games like rogue squadron won't play. I even got shenmue 2 on dreamcast to almost run. This little device I thought capped out at ps1 but it's much more powerful than that.
The retroarch menu entry there is not intended for launching games from and especially not for updating the cores. The cores have to be compiled specifically for this device and are supplied as part of the CFW. That feature of retroarch won't work on most CFWs unless they have their own repository like Arkos and RA with cores compiled especially for them. PS I like your videos
Also I don't see the benefit of a custom firmware on this as fixing Dreamcast or PSP, that's unrealistic, the strength of spruce is the wealth of new cores it adds. Note that in recent versions I believe only cores for ROMs you actually have will be visible but it supports so, so many systems
I just use miyoo A30 as gameboy console, if i want to play psp or dreamcast game, i would rather buy more powerful console than miyoo A30 but i brought it for the sake of convient for me to play my gba games on the go. It small, it light, and very easy to configured or map button i want it to be.
i notice you ran the handheld with the year 1970. this can bring issues to any connecting to servers as they wont sync. and can result in crashes etc. i had problems with some devices and wifi in the past but the fix was always to change to a current date.
Good point but it turns out that this device just can't update Retro Arch via online updates due to the way the file system works. It needs to be configured separately. Such a shame this isn't mentioned in the custom firmware "features".
Its same but its still recommend to just reflash new MicroSD with new firmware and throw away the MicroSD that came with this kind handheld, why? Most MicroSD they use is gacha non branded quality, some have good durability but if you not lucky its will death when you receive it.

@@hatchxable can you blame them? Miyoo A30 when launch have same price as other handheld that can play at least few PSP and Dreamcast title, so of course everyone have high expectations for Miyoo specially after Miyoo Mini success.
As of 15.08.2024, Retroid 4 Pro is the best buy. With these Chinese, handheld retro-consoles, the stock software is ok, at best. With custom firmware, the real fun starts.
The retroid 4 pro is not a competitor to the Miyoo A30, they are completely different proposals. I have an Odin Pro, it has a 6-inch display, very good for playing more robust emulators, but it is not as discreet and portable as the Miyoo A30.
Got one of these but the screen broke in delivery, got a refund which is great. Especially since the buttons and dpad seemed so mushy I can't imagine actually playing anything on such a bad dpad
What do you say D-pads are bad compared to? I received mine, I think the D-Pads are perfect, I've had several handhelds, I even have an Odin Pro and I much prefer the D-pad on this Miyoo A30.
I love how Miyoo used a matte screen and not glossy and also how they have it recessed into the system. It’s very unique in that way.

Yeah, it's surprising how much it can handle when you give it the right settings.

Yes, this is true. I do know this but the fact that this new firmware basically buggered up a feature that was working isn't cool.
A lot of PSP games that are 2D (16-Bit) work really well, Just not 3D.
It is good for what it is and for its purpose and would be good for young ones (and young ones in heart 😊 )
Good little device to play mk1,2,3,umk3,street fighter 2,3rd strike arcade, snes, gensis or megadrive, gba,gb,gg,nes and few more like c64

You can get it for 25$ now thats a steal
Got one for 31 euros hah that was a good deal. Plays really well up to PS1!

why no more lifeonjapan videos?
Because I don't have time to go anywhere interesting to film.
I am in the process of collecting footage for a new video. Maybe by the end of August.
So, was it any better than stock?

Where is EMU refresh? It's not in my APPS section.
