I was watching when the hood took flight. It could have been worse. I've been working on cars for 50 years and the number of dumb things I have done is countless. Those are the lessons that you never forget. Keep upp the good work Doug.

Great that you were able to not only admit an oversight but then to make a video of it is a huge thing. Great job

You should check out the "Claw" style rivets. They expand with 3 "claws' that stick out. I use it whenever riveting to plastic.

I wanted to see if you could do a video round tube front end for the fox body mustang. I’m looking to do one and not sure what is involved. Thanks and great video

Could also use a thin piece of aluminum rail on the back side of the plastic to sandwich the plastic in between when using rivets.

Any rivet going into plastic I will use split rivets, claw style, washers or sheet metal backing. Also if you nut and bolt it I would suggest poly nuts.

A tech tip Tuesday idea, share different diagnostic approaches for different issues you may encounter with misfires, failed boost solenoids, partially stuck open waste gate/blow off valve, excessive crank case pressure, low fuel pressure, etc. These cars dont have an obd2 port to give you trouble codes so how would you approach it within the tuning software, how you can spot poor data, and what kind of programmable warnings can you preemptively set within the software...

Again, Dzus fasteners are NOT a way to mount a bonnet. Pins are. Reinforce the bonnet with some reinforcing ribs under the bonnet to stop most of the flex. It may weigh a pound more but will not fly off. Though those ten fasteners probably weigh more.
Pins also can be removed very quickly for a fire unlike dzus.
And I have done this on road race cars that is doing 175mph 2 plus min lap after lap. Not under 10 sec.
