Watching Carole for the first 2 mins. is like watching a cat waiting to pounce. At approx. 2:15 she begins to whine and shortly afterwards claws are out. "Tis time to switch off.

No wonder Carole doesn’t support paying doctors more. How she spoke to the doctor here is appalling. What a patronising woman.

A very good contribution from the doctor.

I agree with Henry and the doctor. These doctors do not get treated well enough for the work they do. They save lives.

Australia does have an NHS it’s a public tax funded system that is free at the point of use. Primary care is not free for the most part (although free GPs do exist) but hospital care certainly is and the public hospitals are of a similar if not higher standard to the NHS. Almost every doctor who leaves the uk for Australia goes to work in the public sector, you can’t actually bill in the private sector (which is paid by copayments from patients, insurance and government) for 10 years and private sector salaried jobs are fewer and similarly paid to public. The pay is not the biggest driver, people don’t like a system that doesn’t allow them to provide good or even adequate care.

The Dr is correct. The NHS was one of the best places for healthcare in the world under Labour and now its ranking has gone way down under the Tories. The Tories have deliberately spent less of our resources to fund the NHS to destroy the NHS. Carole would be happy for it to all be run by insurance companies like it is in USA where people literally go bankrupt because their child gets sick or they end up not going to the hospital until it’s too late for easily curable or treatable diseases because they can’t afford to go for help. Many of these Tory MPs have shares in these US corporations.

Maybe they should’ve trained our own people instead of importing cheap foreign labour. 🤔

You've hit the nail on the head there! Since the UK has encouraged everyone to go to university, degrees and qualifications have decreased in value. Elite people used to go to university, where their skills and knowledge could be increased. Now, the elite are sitting in lecture theatres with people who have scraped through their 'A' levels, so graduates aren't as skilled as they used to be, so we've had to import them from places with lower wages. So we've started paying them less as well. Now it's no surprise that they want to leave!
I work in admin in the NHS, where I see non-qualified people doing unnecessary non patient-facing jobs, on higher grades than some ward sisters, who are responsible for the care of 30 patients and the wellbeing of 40 staff. It's not just a 'doctors' problem as highlighted in this video, but a demonstration of how the NHS is broken.

The argument that tax has to go up is spurious. Yes taxes should go up to pay for a quality health system (most people surveyed agree with that) but why not cut the nuclear deterrent that costs £3bn a year by 1/3 which would cover a 35% pay rise for the doctors (remembering that for much of that rise the government is going to take back a substantial % in taxes on it). The costs of not giving the increase will outweigh the savings if just a small % leave
