    Consistently rode and raced fully rigid throughout the 90's with great success. All of us had long stems and crank arms. The trick is to think ahead and lift off the saddle over bumps. Listening to your brakes squealing all the time leads me to believe that your pads are glazed over. Some riders used Hite-Rite seat post droppers but most did not. We even took our full on road bikes off road at times! It is all about attitude.

      @bike.breath  22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ah the golden years! Our east coast rocky trails really put my crank arms to the test. Also my bad knee too :(
      I almost bought a Hite Rite but the lever up top is a convenience I wasn’t ready to give up just yet haha.
      Rigid bikes are so fun! Thanks for checking out the video :)

    TH-cam algorithm got it right this time! We see a lot of bike building videos, but it's hard to find POV rides! Beautiful bikes, love the colors. I'm slowly building my 92' Trek 800 and I take a lot of inspiration from builds like yours!

    Excited to learn more about them

    • @bike.breath
      @bike.breath  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@notsoupmoto it’s pretty much a nod to the original mountain bikes! Which were then called all terrain bikes. So basically just stripping away all the modern mountain bike stuff like suspension, flat bars, slack geo, etc.
      We still love modern mountain bikes, ATB is just one of my fav types of riding lately.

    • @notsoupmoto
      @notsoupmoto 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ very cool!
      On the dirt bike side of things, I’ve recently been more drawn to the more stripped down trail bikes as opposed to the more high powered race bikes with all the bells and whistles. I’ve found that riding the simpler bike has been way more enjoyable and actually makes me want to get out and ride more often.
      As you mentioned about modern mtb, I still love the race bikes but there’s just an unexpected draw to the simpler and more chill stuff recently.
      Food for thought 💭

    • @bike.breath
      @bike.breath  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@notsoupmoto that’s so cool that there’s parallels like that! I find a stripped down bike means I’m more playful on it (although not in a big sendy way). Do you feel that too with the dirt bikes?
