Ateez are performance Kings! ❤ Why I like Ateez:
    1. They are special because their making is like destiny. At first their company (KQ entertainment) actually never wanted to debut an idol group. It was a company that consisted of producers, dance choreographers, and solo singers. But one of the Ateez members (Hongjoong) sent them a letter with his mixtape and said that he wanted to train as an idol from KQ because he liked their music. One by one Ateez members joined the company and eventually they became the Ateez we know now. Why I called it destiny because
    a. Hongjoong unknowingly is a source of inspiration for Seonghwa. He only found out that Hongjoong is the boy his teacher kept talking about when he eventually joined Ateez
    b. Yunho & Mingi are close friends from high school who never knew they auditioned in KQ & only found out when both of them accepted.
    c. Wooyoung followed Yeosang to KQ from being trainees of Hybe because they had been friends for 6 years & Wooyoung wanted to fail or succeed beside Yeosang.
    d. San & Jongho are from the same Choi family and meet as trainees there.
    Their background stories are heartwarming
    2. As they have their own in-house producers called the Edenary (along with Hongjoong & Mingi) they create discographies that are so unique and touching, no one can sing Ateez songs like they do. Their lyrics are also amazing, revolving around the youth / people in general and their struggles. So it touches your heart & soul deeply.
    3. They also have in-house choreographers (BBtrippin) that create awesome dance moves that many other groups find hard to perform. But Ateez are performance kings and will always serve when performing.
    4. They are a group of people who are so humble & genuine. KQ gave them freedom unlike any other idol company. And they are just the sweetest boys with genuine love for their arts and fans.
There are still a lot more of why I like Ateez. But that's it for now. I hope you will give them a chance.

@@emmylia from what I know, Hongjoong was initially sent the mixtape and wanted to work with Edenary. He didn't think about being an idol. Then, he waited for a year until someone found his tape in a tray and contacted him. Hongjoong simply replied that he could do anything as long as it was with the Edenary team. Later, KQ discovered that he actually knew dance moves, and asked him to be the leader of a boy group, instructing him to learn from that.

They are now quite famous but they come from a very small company so the budget of their MVs and things can be clearly seen through their story increasing and the quality but in comparison the company still does not have as much weight and contacts so they still don’t have much promotion and support from within the industry, the quality.. they are so good. You should check their full album :) haha let atiny know if you need any help with concepts/lore or with the story or knowing the members ❤

Thanks for the reaction! Despite their incredible MVs, Ateez is actually known for their incredible live performances. They are 8 incredible performers with amazing vocals and performances skills. They come from a small company and literally started with nothing. They have an in-house production team including Hongjoong and now Mingi (the two rappers).
They are also known for both their non-standard song flows including anti-drops and layered bridges and choruses. Many of their songs are anthems-like. They have a nickname as the ‘last 30 second idols’ due to their tendency to have explosive ending to their songs. (Halazia and Guerrilla are the best more recent examples that have amazing MVs)
For true music fans, what really sets them apart is their B-sides. They have an incredibly full discography that incorporates a lot of genres, but still has an Ateez signature sound. Oh… and they also have Jongho… widely regarded as the best singer of the 4th generation of K-pop. You didn’t hear him showing out as much on this song, but he is the one playing poker.
I am not sure what types of songs you like, but for MVs…
My favorites that are signature Ateez: Halazia, The Real, Utopia
    Anthems - Wonderland, Answer
Mid tempo - Inception, Say My Name
    Ballads - Turbulance
Bangers - Guerrilla, Fireworks, Bouncy (this was their last release)
    Sexy - Deja Vu
    Bright - Eternal Sunshine, Aurora
My favorite B-sides: Cyberpunk (synth wave), Take Me Home (synth wave), Outlaw (rap heavy), To The Beat (booty shaking lol)
Here is some more information on their lore and where this video fits in, if you are interested:
Ateez has an entire storyline that is carried through almost all of their tracks, MVs, and live stages starting from their 2018 debut. It is pretty complex but the basics are they are a form of multidimensional, time traveling pirates (think more like underground, government overthrowing pirates than sea pirates, but they do incorporate some traditional pirate elements). There is World A (our world) and World Z (Strictland…where they are in this video). In Strictland, emotions, art, and music are banned. There is a movement to overthrow the government, which is what is happening in this video. This video also calls back to early video of their’s called Wonderland which is one of their most popular songs.
They have a lot of references to movies strung through their videos including 1984, Equilibrium, Inception, Money Heist, and many others.
The MVs stand alone, but if you want to know more about where they are in the lore, you can react to the related trailers and teasers along with the videos:
    Guerrilla (the battle begins)
    - The World Movement Trailer 1
    - The World Movement Trailer 2
    - Guerrilla MV
Halazia (this is a spin-off that shows the beginnings from the point of view of people that were there)
    - Spin Off From the Witness Prologue
    - Halazia MV
    - Spin Off From the Witness Epilogue
Bouncy (they are in hiding with different roles… this is the release right before Crazy Form)
-The World Ep. 2 Outlaw Official Trailer
    -Bouncy
Dance practices and stages are popular. KQ is the company they are under and are know for being pretty reactor friendly. I haven’t seen a reactor have any issues with any content from their channel.

There are 8 members! One of them got injured so they couldn't be in the dance scenes.
Ateez's concept has been pirates since their debut in 2018, they have a MASSIVE storyline going through their music. (I'll leave that for someone else to explain 😂)
For me personally, I heard their music first before seeing their performance so that's what got me into them, however Ateez are known as one of the top performance groups in K-pop, I believe they won a few awards this year as best perfomers of 2023.
As for what sets them apart? Once you get to know them a bit more I believe you would understand, it's hard to describe, like they have a unique vibe? Their older music as well are not like I've heard from other groups, and not to mention all their personalities, they are all very different individuals and unlike other groups where they try to form a more cohesive unit, Ateez members are more free to express their selves but still come together perfectly with their own styles, you will see this especially on live stages, their styling and dance styles are all completely unique to each member and are not forced into one style of dance to make it look more in sync.
For me personally, San 1:11 with the red hair and Yunho 1:21 with the silver hair stand out (in everything, hence why they are my biases😂) but other fans are drawn to other members because they are all different! Just depends on whose style speaks to you the most (and it's hard to find ateez fans who don't have more than 1 bias, we are all ot8 at heart😁)
One more thing I'd say, Ateez's music has changed A LOT, they bounce around genres and I can see why you would think they just make stereotypical K-pop songs from this video (even if I love Crazy Form I do agree that it's quite stereotypical if you expect the "K-pop" sound) but most of their other title tracks are nothing like Stray Kidz music unless you count high energy because Ateez have those in spades.
I'd recommend Answer or Guerrilla next for a different vibe!
Sorry for the long comment, I got really into thinking about what makes them my top group and well... I could still go on but I'll end it here for now 😂

Thank you for reacting to ATEEZ. They are not from big company but they success to bring themselves in a par as group from 4 big company. They known as Pirate in Kpop and proud of it. Hongjoong known as Captain and have his armband in every stages and MVs. They also known ass 'last 30s group' for their intense music in most of every song they have.
Personally I love ATEEZ because their music really unique. Not typical kpop music. They have different genres but sound so ATEEZ.
They also known for their live performance. They sing live for every stage they perform. Hence not surprise they won 4 times in Immortal Song - a show where contestant had to sing live and the only kpop group who won that much.
Their lore - ATEEZ hold their lore very strong. Since debut day. Their mvs, performance always related to each other and it make me excited for their comeback just to learn more about their storyline.
For example this era/ THE WORLD series, the order of the songs are Guerrilla - Halazia - Bouncy - Crazy form. If you watch these video in order, you will find the connection in term of storyline, songs and mvs.
Guerrilla - they manage to entered the Stictland (Dimension Z which the place where any emotion and arts are forbidden). They use music to intercept the device that control people emotion and mind. The end of the MV, escaped kid from Prestige Academy asks them to save his brother (this one explained in diary version album).
Halazia - this is the spin off for this series. Its pov from the witness. The 'blue bird' appeared for the first time here.
Bouncy - After they enter the Strictland, 8 of them undercover with different identities and preparing to get inside Prestige Academy. They managed to kills Android Guardian in this mv. They use chilli pepper to smuggle the bullet.
Crazy Form - I supposed they are in Prestige Academy. They all are on their mission. And this song sounds like a victory after they manage to take over the place.
Idk if there will be an epilogue or something from this era/series coz from the diary version of the album, it still unfinished story 😅

Thanks for reacting to them! I love ATEEZ because they are a group of hardworking individuals that have a very real passion to create art no matter the situation. They come from a small company (probably why you haven’t heard of them) that had no experience on how to debut a group and some of the members were even friends from middle school before becoming apart of the group. Some became friends afterwards. They’re a very tight knit group.
I don’t like to talk about numbers but ateez’s case is a special one. They are known as the “miracle from a small company” cuz they only sold 430 albums when they started now they’ve sold 900K in one day.
They are an 8 member group (all members are in the video but one member had surgery and couldn’t do the dance scenes, The youngest, Jongho. He was playing poker). They’ve been active for 5 years and this is their 2nd full album. This album has songs made and written and/or produced by a member. The group does have two members (Rappers HongJoong (Leader) and Mingi) that write and produce on every song with their in house production team, Edenary. ATEEZ are known as the “Light of Kpop” because of their explosive and charismatic performances and anthemic music style. They do have lore and most of their music videos look like movies. They’re pirates on a ship called Destiny and are in search of Treasure and helping people find their own treasure.

For me they are one of the only current groups that sing live in almost every single stage (minus when a they are forced to lip sync for VRs or audio by the shows and they literally cannot lyp sync) so it’s more like raw and natural! And their personalities ❤

  • @BeccaFaye1314
    @BeccaFaye1314 ปีที่แล้ว +12

The 2 things that set Ateez apart for me are their very in depth storyline and their extreme dedication to performance.
Their storyline which revolves around them becoming rebels and "pirates" in another universe fighting a government that has taken control and brainwashed the population to no longer have any emotions is intense. They tell their storyline in teasers, trailers, diary films, the m/v's, live performances, in the lyrics of the songs themselves and most importantly in diary entries that almost act like comics in the physical copies of their albums. So not only is there story that the fans get to theorize over in the m/v's but there is defined canon story told in the diary albums. Also fyi Ateez have been Pirates since their debut in 2018. Their debut song is literally called Pirate King and fans and Ateez alike don't call the leader of the group leader, we call him Captain Hongjoong. Always have.
Second is their committment to performance. Each member of Ateez are incredible dancers. As a whole they are the best dancers in the 4th gen of k-pop in my opinion. But they are also dedicated to stage presence and the characters they are portraying in their story on stage. Fans call some of the members "The Demon Line" because the facial expressions and persona they portray on stage almost looks like they become possessed. On top of being incredible dancers with a story that they are dedicated to portraying through their stage presence, they are all incredible singers with amazing range and they insist on singing and rapping live as much as possible all the time. The youngest of the group, Jongho, is the best vocalist in the 4th generation of k-pop in my opinion. He has the best control and power vocally. But he is not the only great singer. San is also a top tier vocalist, which is crazy because he is apart of the demon line and considered the best performer of the 4th gen as well. Then Seonghwa and Yunho are both also incredible singers with so much range. Finally Wooyoung and Yeosang are also great vocalists that sit on opposite sides of the vocal range. Wooyoung has a higher tone of voice that can be very light and airy but also has some power. Yeosang has a natural deeper tone but can also be very soft and airy as well. Then the rappers are both very charismatic and powerful on stage.

I was listening to stray kids when I discovered them but I discovered ateez and somehow I stayed with ATS. They just drew me in more, the excitement, the dance, the facial expressions. They are called the performance kings for a reason you need to check them out.

What set ATEEZ apart from other kpop groups is that they’re performers in all the sense! They dive too much into character depending on the song, meaning they can be all cute or very scary! Their discography is very cinematic, they have a lot of references of movies and books, and have very versatile genres (you guys will found out about this once you dive more into their albums)! Another thing is that they NEVER give a boring performance and always sing in live as much as they can (in fact they even won 4 times in Immortal Song, a competition program where artists perform a cover of other artist without lip-sync), something that today’s groups don’t do that often!

thank u for reacting to my Ult Group! This song and the album is insane!
I donno if i commented this already, but hopefully it helps. Take your time, this Group has a lot of lore and information. They come from a small company and are basically legends to the upcoming groups in k-pop. Even though, they are young themselves. They have only been in the industry almost five years and have changed the game.
You mentioned that they are a big group, well surprisingly, they aren't that popular in Korea due to their unorthodox debut and their experimental sounds. Korean fans also fight then on everything, they don't like that Ateez performed this song at the MNET Awards, and I heard that they don't like the choreo too. They seem to like Ateez for the visuals cause Ateez tends to get low Korean sales. Thankfully, Ateez is extremely popular Internationally, with lots of US, Europe and even Caribbean fans.
Also, they are from a Small Company called KQ Entertainment (a Member has also states that they started with like 10 staff members and have now made it to 100). Kpop has "The Big 4" ,which are companies that make groups like BTS, Blackpink and Stray kids. The companies are SM, YG, Hybe(or Big Hit) and JYP. They have been at it for decades and are worth billions, so they got the budget for good videos.
Ateez and KQ on the other hand, started from the ground up, using free sets in Morraco to film their first MV and making only 430 sales their first album. The Company was in debt and Ateez brought them out of it with Talent and Insane Stage Presence (they have a sub unit called the demon line for a reason). They've only just started getting increasingly better editing and budgets (think 2021 to 2023) but their storytelling and passion makes them stand out before even that (see fever diary film if u want lol)
There's 8 members and ALL are incredible Performers, vocalists/rappers & dancers. They are called the "Standard of Performance in K-pop". There's only 2 English Speakers (they are still Korean), but the members try to learn English. Our fandom is call Atiny, which is a combination of Ateez and Destiny.
Thank you for the reaction. K-pop is known for lots of beat switching and lots of pleasing visuals but Ateez didn't rely on visuals, especially when they first debuted (see Hala Hala which was released 4months after their debut). They also switch up genres a lot, rock, punk, sea shantys (lol) even softer songs.
For the Production side of things, the Captain of the group, Hongjoong (rapper, singer, leader, songwriter and producer) had written over 40 songs before their debut at 18 (songs like Good lil Boy, Desire, Aurora and Rocky) he's also part of the production team with the other Rapper of the group, Mingi. They both write their lyrics and have producing credits. With this new album however, the members all have writing credits.
Please Note: if you listening to the albums, they come in series. This Album is 3rd and last of The World Series Ep Fin_the Will. Other album series are the Fever Series, the Treasure Series.
Performance wise I would recommend Crazy Form, Poppia, Desire, Take me Home & the Precious+Treasure Mix, Black Cat Nero and Intro+New World (these are some of my faves, lol but you can check out anything in your spare time if you want), try the user *sanie's* uploaded videos of the live dvd performances for an even insane-r experience (you'll see) even if in your free time. But please be careful when choosing lyric videos, they mess up who does the lines a lot.
Again, thanks and glad u like them. Hope this helps with the Kpop side of things too.

The reason I like them so much is because they always bring so much energy to everything. Their vocals are stable and very good. Their dancing is amazing. They were initially a performance style group. You can see it in their pre-debute KQFellas dance clips. Pick It Up even created an unintentional fan chant.😂. They are all so very different from each other but somehow they work together and even seem to genuinely like each other. They've been together 8 years so I hope so!😂. And they're NICE. Sure they mess with each other like any mid-20's guy with their friends, but they are very kind to fans and take care of each other.❤

I agree with everything that’s been said in the comments but also to expand on some of them: ateez are from a small company that didn’t have much money in the beginning, they’ve only fairly recently started earning more due to ateez’s album sales and high tour numbers (they’ve sold out several world tours, they even went on and sold out a world tour a few months after debut due to high demand internationally, tho like i said kq didn’t have much money so it was a sponsored tour since international fans really wanted to see them and the venues weren’t very big like the ones they tour nowadays but they still sold it out, and it happening just a few months after debut is wild to me). You’ll see as you go through their music videos the slow but steady increase in their budget over the years, especially if you watch it from the beginning (they shot their debut music videos in the desert in Morocco because it’s a free location and they couldn’t afford much else, in one of the music videos you can even see tourists in the background since they couldn’t rent out the places they went to. The difference between those and the mv for crazy form is astronomical). Ateez have talked about how they’ve struggled through the years trying to find success while being from such a small company, it’s sad to hear but I’m so proud of them for where they are now, they’ve worked so hard🥹
Anyway pardon the long comment hahah

Ateez is soooo creative! I stan them and no other Kpop group because they have FIRE 🔥 in their performance! They have the best LIVE vocals while maintaining strong stage presence!!! They are fierce and unlike the group you mention skz and enhypen. Ateez had their performance stages cut short and sometimes cancelled all because unlike the group you mentioned who comes from a wealthy famous company, ateez came from an unknown smaller company. They were snobbed from left to right in the Kpop industry. Their sales was only 430 the first week! Not 430K but 430 albums!!! They came from NOTHING! They were so excited when only 10 people liked their song! Also they had free concerts at the park in the beginning of their career. They were very nervous that nobody would show up! Those group you mentioned will never ever worry about nobody showing up!!!! Ateez did! They literally struggled and got shit on the industry and awards was too many times! Even when they made#1 in billboard 200 spot, they are Atinys, the fandom’s hard-work and team work. Kq doesn’t even have a proper distributor like those groups you mentioned. Yet,Ateez thrive against all odds! They said when they performed , they would performed like it’s their last. Their CEO told them they could be cancel anytime. I love how they inspire Atinys. The captain of Ateez Hongjoong have told us many times never to dream small. He would ask, “did I ever teach you to dream small?” They are captivating and mesmerizing! I think enhypen is pretty good but for me, ateez has the hunger , the drive and fire on their stage presence other group lack! You won’t know what I’m talking about till you see their performance kingdom symphony #9 wonderland! FYI, They have had pirate concept since before 2018. They are known pirates in Kpop :) They definitely do not own pirates concept lmaooo but just saying they have been consistent with their pirate lore pre debut and debut onwards. Their leader is called captain. Not leader. We are all called Atinys Ateez mix destiny! Like we’re destined to meet Ateez and our pirate ship is called destiny. Once you became an Atiny, you hop in the pirate ship together and sail through the smooth and rough waves and we never give up. Our ship only goes one way! To chase our dream and achieve it!!! Other Kpop groups had private concept much much later on 2018. Again Ateez doesn’t own private concept haha but just putting it out there that they are known as pirates before 2018 :)

Ty for this reaction it was fun watching ❤️ theyre 8 in the group btw, Hongjoong, seonghwa, yunho, yeosang, san, mingi, wooyoung and jongho. Jongho wasnt there at the end of the video for some reason. Ateez has songs of almost every genre, from slow romantic songs to edm and rock. Theyre crazy good and they do stand out from other groups because of their insane performance skills, and they NEVER lack energy or anything when theyre performing on stage. It would be fun if you would react to some of their older songs like halazia, deja vu, answer and hala hala :)

He wasn't cleared for dancing from the surgery he had on his knee until pretty much right before MAMAs so he couldn't do the group dances.

Why I like Ateez - 1. I trust the producers (Eden-ary, who *also* work with Dreamcatcher, my ult gg) and know that even if a song isn't exactly to my taste, they can still make me like it via the way it's performed. 2. They're genuine performers - there's no questioning if they believe their stage personas or no. They do. They throw themselves so hard into their performances and give it their all. They dont have to think about what they're doing on stage because they've done all that work in the practice room. They can focus purely on the stage and performance and are ablw to adapt quickly to issues. 3. They're sincerely and unapologetically themselves while also being considerate of others.
In some ways, they are a standard Kpop group. They use the same musical genres and blending thay other groups do. They have the same dance formations, they sing live (like sorry Ateez isn't special on this one, idols train to be dancers and singers, that's their job. Most idols try to sing live as often as they can but they can get blocked by their own company or bad sound systems or being sick...) as often as they can, they're excellent performers, and like most boy groups theyre absolutely insane. In other ways, they stand out - they're given excellent music to work with, they aren't afraid to look "ugly" in their facial expressions (to the point where they're often accused of overdancing or just being too much) which goes along well with some of their songs, their base concept as pirates has never really been done before - other groups have portrayed pirates for a song or two, but no one has done it as a base concept, and honestly they're just some good kids having a good time doing what they love and that shows.

There are 8. Jongho wasn't in the last shot because it was filmed while he was recovering from surgery.
-Hongjoong-Captain (leader) of the group, rapper, writer, producer, dancer, vocalist. He's the reason KQ started a boy group. He is also one of the primary producers of their songs along with Mingi, Maddox, and Eden.
-Seonghwa is the oldest, visual, dancer, vocals. He auditioned as a rapper but they chose him for vocals because he has a great voice. He does rap some though.
-Yunho is the lead dancer and along with their backup dancers and choreographers gets everyone up to speed on each new performance.
-Yeosang is their deep voice, performer and dancer. Also looks like a pixie.
-San is a main vocalist and insane dancer. He wasn't a good dancer in the beginning but worked really hard.
-Wooyoung is performer, dancer and vocalist. He and San are best friends and even have a tattoo that matches. He used to say he was the sexy one of the group, but now says he wishes he hadn't. He's very energetic and sweet.
-Mingi is a rapper and lyrics writer. He's also very good at dancing and tends towards sexier dancing. He's a giant cream puff though and super sweet and soft off stage. He says it's a job (and he's very good at that job).
Jongho is the baby of the group. He dresses like he's 45 but is actually pretty silly. He has one of the best voices in 4th Gen and can hit insane notes.
They do have a pirate theme and have from their debut. There's a whole lot of lore behind it. It sums up to inter-dimensional time traveling pirates seeking to bring light and emotion back where it has been stifled.
They're actually friends with Stray Kids, since you mentioned them!😊.

BTS and Ateez are my top K-pop groups, they are really incredible and always present performances filled with a lot of energy! It's catchy! Please react to Answer, it's my favorite song from Ateez!

Unlike Dreamcatcher, who have story lines/ trilogies that begin and end, ATEEZ has had a single "crazy" ongoing inter-dimensional pirate story line. I like ATEEZ because of their musical connection to Dreamcatcher - who are my ults. Of the fourth gen boy groups I also like Stray Kids and TXT - but only particular songs.

Ateez music videos are all part of a long storyline from their debut music video till now, each album is one episode of their story, and you were right. It’s a story about time traveling pirates. If you like anime you can get into the storyline, if not, you don’t need to know the story to enjoy the music, but the music videos might be confusing because they build on top of the previous videos, so although it looked like the scenes were disconnected they are all part of the same larger story.
Ateez and Stray Kids are friends. Changbin from Stray Kids and Wooyoung from Ateez are especially close friends, but all of both groups became friends when they got teamed up on the battle of the bands show, Kingdom: Legendary War. Ateez have a production team that writes and produces their music, but two of the members of Ateez (Hongjoong, their captain, and Mingi) are on the production team (along with 4 other guys) and participate with composing and production although all the members have written lyrics to their songs.

Jumped back to this from seeing your Guerilla reaction first. Glad you enjoyed it and want to listen to them more. Agree with basically every comment thats already been said! I came into Kpop through BTS as a casual listener and tried a few others, but always found something a bit lacking (to me personally) and then I heard ATEEZ, who pulled me totally away from bts and I rocked up to Ateez's concert a few months after my first listen and realised they are the most amazing performers & live singers as well as being humble and hard working. Their pre debut performance vids are well worth checking out - KQ Fellaz - theres 3(?), 2 full group and one solo from Yunho
