AGREED!!!! Favorite lines "You have to have FAITH for this to work on ME, Mr. Vincent!!!", and when he "tempts" Billy Cole, "All I need you to do is TAKE MY HAND!!!" Just like Satan does I'm sure. Come, Lord Jesus!!!
I saw it in the eighties, first, but I don't think I had the chance to see it in the theater. I probably saw it a year or so later, when it was on VHS. There was comedy, but the scenes with Charley and "Jerry" the vampire, seemed so dramatic and intense at the time, and still do. Like the bedroom scene. Or Ed and Jerry when he turned him. As well as Peter and Ed, when Ed became a vampire. There were tears in Stephen Geoffrey's eyes. It would go from comedy to drama seamlessly.
Chris Sarandon's line "Welcome to Fright Night For Real" is absolutely priceless and his acting in the movie literally made the movie. Chris was the "captain" and the cast brilliantly followed.
Agreed, but Chris is not a selfish actor either. He puts 100% of himself into his roles but never to the point of overshadowing his co-stars. That shows he is a good listener and a good collaborator.
The movie was far from underappreciated. It was the second highest grossing horror film in 1985 behind Nightmare part 2. Chris Sarandon said the audience went crazy the first time he was at the public premiere in theaters.
Chris and Roddy made the film so memorable. I just watched it, it was so scary and fun. I did not expect an older film from the 80’s to be quite scary but the effects were amazing
One of the BEST Vampire movies EVER!!! Still love it to this day!!! So classy of them to "leave a chair" for Roddy McDowell. He's smiling from Heaven! Maranatha!!!
I just finished watching the movie and came here to watch the reunion I grew up on this movie and I'll never stop watching it because there's nothing till this day that comes close to the 80s and the films that came along way with it such beautiful moments
I think Silver Bullet is scarier and a little better overall than The Lost Boys and Silver Bullet has a lot more creepy, disturbing, and eerie scenes and a much scarier score/soundtrack than The Lost Boys. Silver Bullet is underrated although the book of Silver Bullet called "Cycle Of The Werewolf" is much better than the movie. Gary Busey, Corey Haim, Megan Follows, and Everett McGill were awesome in the Silver Bullet movie though. Honestly, The Lost Boys is much cheesier than Silver Bullet if we're being honest. Between the annoying little vampire kid, the main character trying to look like Jim Morrison, Corey Feldman being a cheesy and over the top teenage vampire hunter, the "big bad" leader vampire being a big dork at the end, etc....the movie has plenty of cheese to go around.
Love Fright Night, probably seen it over 100 times over the years. Great panel, and great to see them all again. I almost expected SG to sound like Evil when he spoke. 💯💯💯😂😂
Such a great Soundtrack -- and it has the right vibe that many spooky movies are never able to capture. One thing I do like as well is the diabolical sensuality that was relayed by Jerry Dandrich (as a character).... Really love this movie more than words can say!! :)
It's a beautiful little movie. An homage at horror classics, perfectly balanced between comedy and horror. Will give you laughs and fear. Everything in this movie is just right. We love it.
I remember seeing European Vacation at the movies and Fright Night was one of the previews. The preview was so good I couldn't wait to see it..37 years later and it's still one of my favorites.
Tremendous film saw it three times as a 15 year old and just recently still out performs tons of recent horror with great ensemble cast perfect combo of humor and horror that actually works effects practical and phenomenal and Roddy and Sarandon were performing at high level love it

I hear you,it is emotional for me too.I'm an old man now,so many years have gone by,so many loved ones, friends & dreams are gone ,watching the movie after so many years later was bitter sweet.
When Stephen/Evil Ed gets the cross Fried into his forehead... and he turns and looks at Peter Vincent and half screams... "What have you DONE to ME?!" It's SO Convincing that he was REALLY in pain! Just AWESOME!
William Ragsdale is still looking good then 6 years ago and now in 2023. Chris Sarandan is a wonderful actor and in his prime was gorgeous too. Rip Roddy McDowall ❤forever love to you! Brillant actor he was and always will be.
I'm looking at it for the umpteenth time, 2nite on Ovation channel. I saw the 2011 reboot, but for me the 1985 version is my all time favorite, though I like Colin Farrell. But just like there's only 1 Jack Torrence, there will always be 1 Jerry Danridge. Lots of laughs, especially when Charlie brought Art Evans, who played the cop to the house to prove that a vamp lived there. Priceless 👿! Missing Roddy McDowell. He was a great actor.
I didn't know that was a bit, until the very end, when he's playing with his phone, stalling until the applause break, to deliver his line. "That was my Father." Great bit.
I do think it was kind of odd that when William Ragsdale was asked about Fright Night 2, he seemed like he was less impressed with that movie, but then again, he seemed like he would have been fine not answering any questions. But he described it as they probably just wanted to cut costs. When Stephen Geoffreys and Amanda Bearse were right there. And they had been offered the chance to reprise their roles, and turned them down to do other roles. SO they had to rewrite another college concept. Which was great as well. I felt the second one was at least as good as the first.
Hi its amanda Cullen from Aberdeen, Scotland chris was a heart throb I was in love with him and still am he was gorgeous and still is you're biggest fan amanda x and best film ever x

The remake, such a waste of means and talent because of a lousy lousy lousy script ! Almost all the humour of the original is absent. The actors on the other hand are very likeable. Colin Farrell is quietly terrifying, his Sheridan Le Fanu (of ''Carmilla'' fame) Irish heritage showing ! Toni Collette is very lovable and more active as Charley's mother in defending her son than in the original. Chris Sarandon made a surprising cameo as a victim ! But all this was made forgettable because of the story, and not worth watching again. Unlike the original !
It’s not explainable how much it disappointed me when I found out Charlie grew up to be Gary in justified and I never new it my favorite tv show and one of my favorite movies for years now and I just now found that out wow
The sequel question: Why did Amy not return and there was Traci Lind as Charlie's new gf: "I think Tom knows more about that." Which Tom, William? Tom Holland (Fright Night director) or Tommy Lee Wallace (Fright Night 2 director)? Why does Deborah Fiedel sing "Come to Me" in part 2., when Brad Fiedel scored, composed the instrumental version and sang the alternate version? Why didn't Evil Ed return for the sequel when they had planned to have him back (hence the red eyes in the window at the end of the first film)? Somethings, we may never know.
Amanda Bearse was on A t.v. sitcom and could not do the film. Deborah Holland was a better singer, plus it was a sequel and the song was altered somewhat, so a different version was made. He was referring to Tom Holland
Seeing the empty chair in the middle broke my heart. RIP Mr. McDowall; you were the perfect Peter Vincent. 💙💙💙
Yes that is so sad but everytime I see him in any movie he will forever be immortal and love in my heart for him.
He lived a long and successful life, he'll be missed, BUT, to be missed, he'll be remembered.
Hes in heaven. 🌈

Definitely one of the most under appreciated horror movies made. True gem made in the 80’s during the absurd slasher craze
