    I STARTED prepping because of Hurricane Charlie. I have slowly added over the years. When I see professionals doing some of the things that I have, it makes me feel great,... like I am on the right track. THANKS for what you guys do. 👍🏼💚👍🏼

    I like to soak tampons in soy wax. Soak for about a minute to minute and half let them dry then cut the tampon into 4-5 slices. Then store in a baggie. They are light weight and are easy peasy on fire starting. Soy wax burns longer than beeswax in my opinion

      Beeswax is not toxic in a tent. The others are.

      Just keep a couple of tampons unopened in your back pack. Even just plain they make good fire starters.

    A small roll of duct tape inside a cotton pad or ball taco-style catches a spark from one of those one-handed sparker wheels very very quickly and burns brightly for a couple minutes.

    Take a cheapo bumper sticker - toss the stupid message away and use the backing to stick duct tape and gorilla tape on . Pre cut to length for various uses like a pressure bandage . Parchment paper used in baking is also non sticking for pre cut duct tape .
    Never forget bicycle and motorcycle inner tube . It will float in water or while burning on snow .
    Respect for your video and Thanks .

    Duct tape will work, or you can put a indentation in the ground. Take your fatwood and make some Miadust and your good.

    what is fat wood and were do you get it?

    • @davidcolter
      @davidcolter 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Resinous pine wood, from old rotten stumps. Looks a bit like plastic, smells strongly. Natures napalm. You can find it in the woods or buy sticks of it online.

    • @purefiretactical9630
      @purefiretactical9630 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They use to collect the sap from pine trees and make turpentine with it. When the sap is high and the tree dies it usually goes to the center and hardens. It won't rot or absorb water. It also burns hotel than most other wood.. I find it and harvest it in the Ocala National Forest.

    • @sosteve9113
      @sosteve9113 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Where are you situated, because in my area there is almost no good fatwood

    • @purefiretactical9630
      @purefiretactical9630 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sosteve9113 I live in central Florida close to Chris. The long leaf pine produces more resin than the other pine trees in our area. You can buy it at some places like Lowe's but I don't think it's as good as the stuff we find out in the Ocala National Forest.

      It is the best I ever got,it smells very citrus like and burns from the first spark I trow at it,just like gasoline.
      The fatwood we have is very scares and nothing like I got sended to me.

    Why the hell did you use the edge of the knife for scraping rather than the spine? It's like nails on a chalkboard for the knife enthusiast....

    • @QuantumPyrite_88.9
      @QuantumPyrite_88.9 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's because a knife is a knife and the spine is left rounded and smooth so it doesn't tear up ones' thumb .
