After you have raised your dog's affection, Karen will then say something different about how your dog has smartened up and showing her your dog will NO LONGER raise her affection. You need to use this trick if you have a Spring birthday and you want to get Karen's gift for your 1st gift (the lucky charm bracelet, potentially can reduce the chance of damaging weather).

In this game, giving gifts to other girls doesn't not affect the affections of other girls. And not giving gifts to people for a few days will not change theirs either. So you don't need to give gifts to Rick anymore
