Thanks for the incredibly informative and helpful reviews you provide on your channel. I only wish I’d found this channel sooner, before I bought the Tikka T1x. I really like it-I like Tikka rifles, but the money it takes to make it come close to the CZ’s performance and features push the price higher than what a well-scoped and AccuTac supported CZ MTR would…probably? My next scope coming from Cdn.precision!
I have the t1x and i love it! When i purchase it, i held in my hand the 457 and the action was not quite as smooth than the tikka. I have it for about 3 years and i never had an issue with it. I recommand tikka all the way!

Great video buddy! really looking forward to the next one! if you have a B14R maybe you could add that... ;) my MTR is a true tac driver with pretty much anything SK. absolutely love it!!!
Yep, my CZ 457 with SK standard + can produce 1moa @ 150 yards all day long, but the Tikka T1x with the same ammo is not that far away at a lower cost.
Good comparison video you put together. I customized a CZ455 that still runs as my main .22 The Area 419 rail is almost a necessity as there are very few others that fit the rifle, but there are a couple things to keep in mind. 40 MOA elevation may be a lot more than many cheaper scopes offer travel for.. you will want to verify your scope has enough internal adjustment. Second the bubble level does not agree with my scope or my MDT send it digital level. When both of the others are leveled the bubble in the 419's window is exactly touching the left line. About the trigger.. with the 455 i was extremely lucky to find a "flyweight" trigger from CZ which went out of production long ago. To me the original trigger had excess takeup and felt gritty. One of the main reasons I am holding back from a 457 is the lack of aftermarket trigger groupings - what are guys running in them? I subscribed to your channel. We need more Canadian firearms channels - it gets old really fast seeing suppressors on the rifles in all of the American ones!
You did a great video here as you used 21 different .22LR brands of ammo, shot 3x 10 shot groups and then took the average of the 3. That is excellent data collection as it beats 5 shot groups every time. The only problem I found was trying to find out the distance (50m) and the group size (10 shots) - I had to look in the comments to find that info. Could you please mention the distance and group size more often in your videos - thanks.
Good video. I have both rifles and a Belgara, the CZ 457 MTR with the correct ammo, can shoot 1 moa at 150 yards all day long. But the Tikka is not that far behind, in summary my Tikka is in my opinion the best rifle I have for the money.
In my local club match, it's like 8 out of 10 shooters using the CZ 457 Varmint or MTR with a factory barrel. They are doing very well on every stage. But at the end of the day, the medal only belongs to the rest two Tikka guy who changed their barrel and chassis. I'm not saying anything bad to CZ, I have a 457Varmint and I love it. But I would definitely someday modify a tikka to give it a shot.
I have both the Tikka T1x and the CZ 457 MTR also a Bergara b14, the CZ and the Belgara are vey very close, but the Tikka is not that far behind. I always tell everybody for the money the Tikka is a better rifle.
0.2” groups @ 50 with my T1X in a SCSA chassis, trigger set at 1.5lb and off a grd pod bipod shooting SK match. Comes to life in a chassis accuracy wise!
I think that’s a pretty unfair comparison. Compare it to a cz varmint which is in the same price range and doesn’t have a match chamber. I have a tikka and shoots .3s to .5s all day with standard velocity ammo.
Coming from a non biased custom gun builder, I disagree with this not being fair. The Tikka T1X from from expirence uses a better barrel and chamber than that of a standard CZ457. Though the price points are different, you can easily swap the T1x into a Bravo or XRS stock for the same price as a MTR. In regards to accuracy, it's fair to compare the T1x to the MTR match barrel. They are both great options, but the CZ457 has better aftermarket support and I'm able to build barrels up to a 1.100" diameter contour. The T1X has a hooded receiver, thus limited to just under 1in diameter The problem with the CZ457 MTR is that theirs a huge performance band difference between one MTR vs another. While the T1x will typically perform the same as the others
@@EagleEyeShootingI’m also curious about the availability of a "Match" grade barrel for the Tikka T1x, although I’ve already got a few more dollars into my T1x than I’d planned to. I’m partial to the terrific Tikka .223 that was the 1st bolt action rifle I’ve used since I had a spinal cord injury when I was 21. I’m 53 and still a C-4, 5, 6 quadriplegic. I’d have made a different choice if I hadn’t been so taken by the .223 T3x. The deciding factor would be that the CZ barrels are interchangeable and I’d like to have the option to step up to a 22 WMR. The Tikka doesn’t have the ability to change barrels, comes in a plastic stock with a plastic magazine and I’m counting the dollars that have been spent on improving upon these cheap parts…oh boy. The CZ price is looking pretty good from where I’m sitting. Thanks for sharing your opinion on this, "EagleEye".
Thank you for the in depth video. I am considering running a 30 moa rail on a tikka t1x with a vortex 5-25 strike Eagle. Will I have any trouble with setting up a 50 yard zero. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank and keep up the good work. 👍
I'd Love to see some Anschutz 1710's and 1712's which are match 54 Actions. I really think that there isn't a lot to be gained in regards to accurate data when only two rifles are compared? If the same comparison was made with two different rifles, the Tikka may come out ahead in accuracy? Everyone knows that you can have a "hummer barrel" and a "dog" even with the same manufacturer.
Two guns with different intended purposes. The CZ is for competition/bench shooting, while the Tikka was obviously built for hunting. I wouldn’t say it was an unfair comparison, but definitely like comparing apples to oranges.
Little unfair since the T1 doesn't have a match barrel. The comparison should only be against the regular 457 American in a beech stock. The T1 is also not aimed for this, but does very well with it. I shoot 0.3xx at 50y with it. I also make cheek risers and mag bases for the t1. Is this something you'd like to stock?
each rifle is going to vary, along with ammo velocity lots, I have a tikka and I'm running Tenex at .22-.25, ''with" EC tuner .10-.15 bench rest, although the cz has a better upgrade ability, and much smoother bolt, but then the tikka has a great trigger. both have their place but i love shooting both!
It should also be noted that all Tikkas have the same gun boxes and you do not need to get used to adult caliber and can be used as a Tikka 1x22 lr trainer, it is very easy to get used to the Ergonomics created by Tikka.
Didn't catch it if you mentioned? Did you build the MTR? They don't come with threaded barrels 😮 Pro varmint barrel? If so, it's not a match chamber ?? Although, you never say MTR in the video ... 😮 so maybe you got the stock after 🤔 Thanks for the comparison 👍 😀 🙏 Would also like to see some stuff on the Bergara B14R 👍 😊

You are comparing rifles in which the CZ is nearly an extra 40% more of purchase price versus the Tikka so I would assume it does shoot better. Tikka T1x Cost $829 versus CZ 457 MTR cost of $1149 current day. I wouldn't call the Tikka MTR a precision rifle. Even Tikka do not advertise it as such, If you were to look at a true Tikka Precision rifle you should compare with the Tikka UPR. Overall i really enjoy your content but this is comparing apples to oranges.
I agree, then aging when i bought the CZ457 2 years ago it was 850$ CAD (and i wish i could fins the price of the tikka back then) and had i put the Tikka in the XRS people would have said it woudnt be fair either so for this video i decided to leave it to apple to orange and do a sepperate video comparing the tikka to itself in a chassis. thanks for the feedback
@@EpikArms After reading feedback from those that put a 22LR rifle into a chassis most say a chassis makes it easier to shoot but does not improve the accuracy/precision. I went with a T1x. My local club just started NRL22 competitions this summer so I will try it someday.
Tikka in terms of price-quality, accuracy, fit and manufacture, and what is not a little important is the availability of spare parts, factory support. The possibility of modernization. it will always be the best in the market. All products of the Beretta concern benefit from CZ.
If your winchester sporter was more accurate and reliable then the CZ you would be seeing it winning a lot more matches lol. People use what they can afford and actually win.
Stop short-stroking both actions. Really terrible technique. The MTR vs the T1X is not apples to apples at all. I could care less what the average of 21 different types of ammo shows. Give me 10 round groups of the best 2-3 ammo each shoots. The T1X bone stock is not good for PRS type shooting. I typically enjoy most of your content. This is rubbish. The Tikka goes for $625. The MTR is $900. I could easily spend $200 to make the T1X shoot as well in any PRS match.
Its laughable to call the Tikka a "precision" rifle. Now, if they made one like a CTR, I'd buy it. In order for it to even be competitive, it should have a longer heavier barrel, and it should be in a better stock. The CZ 457 isn't the perfect performer either. They are known for getting random fliers. Hell, my Winchester 52 sporter shoots better on a consistent basis, than either of these rifles. If I were looking for a better option for a "precision" rifle, I'd be looking at a Savage target rifle, like the FVT.
