They turned off anything that could track them when they stole it other than Vader’s pod which they later discard. I have a feeling it was parked on Alderaan. The real reason Tarkin wanted to destroy the planet was to avoid paying the 30 billion parking tickets that were stuck to the viewingpanels of the parked ship.
The name, Carrion Spike is actually an homage to the Carrion Spike on Eriadu where Tarkin was trained by his uncle on the ways of survival and arguably where he was forged as a man. It (at least canonically as I know) has nothing to do with the Tarkin family being hunters

yeah great catch, I always come across issues like this, which is why it is always so silly to me when people freak out about lore breaks. Writers just make stuff that seems cool and new, with some mild research, but I don't think it is a terrible thing. I am able to hold a series of stories that I find interesting in a fictional universe, even if they contradict each other in some parts. It is also why I don't care too much about finding out if it is Legends or Canon, both contradict themselves at times, so just like what you want and ignore the rest when it comes to fiction in my opinion. But again great catch.
I agree to a degree. Thanks Freddy. I remember a conversation we had in your video about the space submarines that them not being able to turn in space for really hinder them. With what ever the Carrion Spike has, it would definitely make that in universe possible.
Cassian's U-Wing (Rebel Shuttle LMTR-20) was able to adjust it's course while in Hyperspace. (Such as when it went to Eadu after making an emergency jump away from Jedha with no indication that the ship reverted to Sublight).
@@richardched6085 yeah but we never really have an indication that they reverted back to real space, in ep.4 it seems like the millennium falcon goes from the outer rim to the core in a single jump.
0:32 - nice size chart there. Although I have to continue to disagree with Wookieepedia about the size of the Arquitens-class. The guy on there used a Sentinel shuttle as a size marker, but ignores how much smaller that shuttle seemed in Rebels. Comparisons with an ISD also make the Arquitens in the range of 200-250 metres.

So basically, the Carrion Spike could technically cross the galaxy faster than the Millenium Falcon because it could take a more direct route than the technically faster ship. The Rebel cell that stole the Carrion Spike made a grievous tactical error by using it to immediately attack Imperial targets. Firstly, they should have assumed that a ship of that calibur would have a tracking beacon. They should have IMMEDIATELY scoured the ship, removed, the beacon along with Vader's meditation sphere, put them in two separate uglies, and sent them in opposite directions. Secondly, they should have played the long game. They should have poured over every system, component, and material of the Carrion Spike in order to learn how to reverse engineer it. They had the key to developing the IDEAL Rebel strike craft and they squandered it on a series of relatively neglegable short term gains. PATHETIC! Epic Rebel fail.
And if they were going to use it for raids, modify it to carry a lot of *heavy proton missiles* so it could do maximum damage in the minimum amount of time. Decloak, launch everything while the target is hopefully unshielded, and then stealth away before return fire can track you. Dropping stealth and then getting into a slugging match is suicide against a heavier ship/ target. Maybe even load it with bombs that it could drop, instead of having to rely on MG100 Starfortresses being able to survive to get on target. And going for annoying raids against expendable targets? If the ship had never been damaged and could just keep raiding, what would it accomplish? Just a slow annoyance. Instead go for killing blows against high priority targets that could cripple _important_ facilities. Destroy drive yards with precision strikes before they can engage defenses, or at least the main control room and oversight facilities if the drive yard itself is too robust. Take out Imperial research facilities, sector headquarters that contain elite and senior personnel, not some resupply station crewed by grunts. It's targets should be assassination of command personnel and facilities, and their _vital_ infrastructure. Maybe key training facilities if they are few in number, but nothing that could be closed as a budget decision. Heck, with a bit of foresight and planning, go after Palpatine himself when he's planetside, just be ready to jump a few seconds after dropping stealth and firing everything.

The Carrion Spike could attack any planetside target on Corruscant(preferably a wealthy and influential district) that would severely undermine his credibility. If they kept a reasonable supply of ion torpedoes, it wouldn't even matter of their targets are shielded because the rest of the torpedoes would get through they Shields after the ion torpedo bombardment. This sort of scenario also begs the question, why are there no nukes? This would be the perfect platform for some nuclear ordinance. Obviously only used the nukes on military targets. They would be incredibly effective. Ion weapons basically work like EMP weapons and one of the by products of a nuclear explosion is a massive EMP so any ships a new code does not destroy, it would likely cripple. I like this discussion.

Is there any in universe reason why these stealth ships were long rocket shaped cylinders? Surely a broad compact hull would provide more interior space. And did it need a specialized hull design for the stealth to work or could the tech be built in any configuration? Because if so it would make sense to have it based upon a proven design (suitably modified) so that it could blend in when not stealthed.
Even the ship is invincible, you can fire on it. When you self fire, the enemy can see your position. Ion fire is a critical wepon to the invincible making decices. So you should have a small ship with high speed to evade the attacks.

Pretty sure the tracking device in the fuel cell wasn't a standard feature. My interpretation was that it had been planted there when the rebels that stole it stopped to refuel at an imperial station.
This should have been Moff Gideons like secret back up ship in the Mandalorian season 2 I also thing they should have done 10 episodes season of All there shows its star wars we crave that content and its obviously going to be a success Dave and the gang are going ham bring in stacks and packs of money

I find it amazing why they didn’t do this.... we have this now!!!!!! One flaw in the cloak..... it would light up like a Christmas tree when it entering a planets atmosphere rendering its cloak useless. I’ve always wondered why the empire didn’t research hyperspace sensors to detect incoming ships and or to constantly scan normal space whilst in hyperspace to make course corrections to avoid objects rending hyper lanes irrelevant
I'd say 33% Rule of Cool, 33% because all Imperial ships had intimidating (and often death-related) names and 33% because Tarkin was a bloodthirsty psycho and the name reflected that. And 1% because why not. Edit: And probably because "Carrion Plateau" was a place of importance for Tarkin
